Fritz's eyes caught hold of something fast moving. The cannonball was all wrong. Its blonde hair was dirty from an explosion. The ball was the wrong shape. It was straight as a plank and it was holding onto an onyx rapier? Realization hit Fritz like a sack of bricks.
"Ada!" Fritz screamed as he pointed to the flying object. Neva and Brenn's eyes immediately locked onto the flying beastkin. Her destination was obvious. She flew like a pigeon towards the swarming mass of undead around the scarecrow.
The explosive chain reaction took hold, as the fire touched the C-4. The ground quaked as a shockwave travelled through the air. A plume of fire shot through the air as the ground exploded. Fritz felt the pressure in the air knock into his chest like a fist. His hearing went completely silent. Metal and bone was ripped apart like it was made from paper. A thousand lifetimes of swordplay proved fruitless against the cruel realities of sudden excess energy. The lucky vampires were vaporized instantly. The unlucky ones became imprisoned in dented armor as the napalm burnt their bodies to a crisp.
The shockwave hit Ada as she flew. It slammed into her, ruining her entrance. She fell to the ground landing on her ass, as a plume of burning jelly jumped into the air coating the nearby ground in perpetually burning agony.
The undead halted. The beastkin stared in utter disbelief. The city shook. Glass windows broke. Everyone went quiet as a silence fell upon the battlefield. The entire city looked towards the gates, waiting in anticipation for what came next.
"Fucking hells!" Neva screamed. A whip of fire wrapped around the wall's crenelation. "Just like her mother! Brenn! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Save Ada!" Neva jumped off Hueryss's walls into the plains below, swinging through the air with her flame whip.
"On it!" Brenn jumped over the wall. Her body disappeared as she teleported into the fray.
"Marcelle with me!" Fritz screamed. Running into the gatehouse, he started shouting orders. "Fire! Fire! Fire! What are you doing?! Get the cannons firing!"
The stunned crews scrambled into action. The guards moved the cannons up, as Fritz forced Gaspard out of the way. Gunpowder ignited, sending cannon balls towards the enemy. The stunned captain finally jumped into action. Like a composer he started directing through the madness.
"Jurgen, stop gawking! Clean the sparks out of the barrel!" Gaspard yelled.
Fritz moved out of the gatehouse onto the walls. A nearby mortar crew watched the battlefield below. Their hands were idle. Fritz yelled, screamed, and shouted waving his shotgun around like a madman as he directed the inexperienced beastkin to fight like a human.

Marcelle watched Fritz yell above the pervasive symphony of artillery. The gatehouse of Hueryss boomed as the eight cannon crews fired from within. Fritz advanced down the wall towards Toshi's battle harem. Toshi stood behind them in his foreign gi. His arms were crossed over his chest as he supervised his harem loading their mortar. His battle harem's path of progression was taking an interesting turn, and Toshi was there to support them all the way.
The lamia watched Fritz point out towards the plain directing the fire arc and direction of their shot. Toshi's fangirls quickly repositioned the mortar aiming to assist Ada. Marcelle turned her head to watch the battle unfolding through the plains. The undead kept advancing despite the explosive ambush and pervasive artillery. Some of Javert's warriors had successfully escaped. The explosion had knocked away their undead pursuers. A mass of re-animated corpses advanced past the patches of burning napalm on the ground.

Ada was locked in combat with a vampiric knight. Her onyx rapier darted towards the heavily armored undead slowly working through his defenses. The mounted knight circled her as a flying shortsword slammed into his chest throwing him off his mount. Seizing the opportunity, Ada descended upon the knight with her rapier.
Mortar shells exploded in the air. Holy water sprayed out coating the undead in the goddess's burning vengeance. Iron fragments rained down on the horde, ripping into bone and decaying flesh.
Despite the damage, the horde was relentless. The necromancers directed the chaff to keep moving forward through the heavy bombardment.
Marcelle's hands roamed over the potion belt strapped to her chest like a bandolier. Toshi's fangirls ignited their mortar. The smaller shell shot out high overhead. Fritz took a moment to watch the mortar sail through the air. It exploded over a mass of skeletons. The holy water within the inner shell burst open, causing droplets of holy water to speed through the air.
Fritz yelled above the din of battle encouraging the defenders into action. Anxiously he looked towards the center of the horde. There Ada, Neva and Brenn were engaged in a large fight against a group of vampiric knights. Cannon balls sailed over their heads slamming into ghouls and undead abominations. Everything was loud chaos. Nothing was smooth or easy. Everything was awkward panic.
While Fritz helped Toshi's battle harem reload, a grappling hook landed on a nearby section of the wall. Even in full plate armor, the undead knight scaled the tall stone walls with quick ease. Hand over hand, the knight gained great vertical distance within a short time.
Looking past the mortar team, Marcelle's purple eyes caught the glint of the iron grappling hook, just as the vampire mounted the crenelations.
"Fritz!" Marcelle hissed, as her hands reached for a potion along her belt. The lamia rapidly uncorked the yellow bottle before gulping down its contents. Fritz's eyes went wide, as he beheld the monster. Toshi was the first to respond, jumping forward to defend his dumbfounded battle harem.
"Hiyaaaa!" Toshi screamed as his righteous fists struck the armored foe. Knuckle hit plate. The knight barely reacted, as Toshi withdrew his hand away in agony. With a flash of speed the knight grabbed Toshi, his fangs extended as he tried to bite the martial artist. The cultivator barely reacted in time pushing hard against his enemy, forcing him back just as the fangs brushed his neck. The long razor sharp teeth ripped into his skin drawing a bloody gash across his tender skin.
"Toshi!" His fangirls screamed, as they jumped into action. The vampire drew his longsword. His cruel eyes found Fritz. With a frightening burst of speed he moved past Toshi, ignoring him. Fritz's heart nearly stopped, as his eyes struggled to track the vampire. His muscles twitched erratically as a sudden panic seized his body. Drawing his shotgun he searched for somewhere to shoot. Just how hard was the plate armor? Could his weapon penetrate it? What if the blasts ricocheted off the slanted steel breastplate? Where should he aim?
The vampire was in range now. Victory over the human was his. He could feel it. The stupid human was too slow. His strange weapon was too far away and in a moronic position.
Fritz pulled both triggers. The gun barked as both shells slammed into the knight's chest. The impact dented his plate, stopping his swing and staggering the vampire. Fritz grimaced as the shotgun's slug ricocheted away. It wasn't enough, the breastplate stopped the slug. The undead knight re-adjusted his swing. The sharp longsword threatened to end his life.
Marcelle shot past in a blur of speed. Her tail wrapped around the leg of the vampire, slinging him into the air and back over the wall. The vampire fell to the ground like a helpless sack of potatoes, slamming into the ground below.
"Jesus Christ. Thanks Marcelle." Fritz said between heavy breaths.
"You owe me, minion." Marcelle spoke way too fast. The lamia shot towards the wall looking over the edge. It was like she was on fast forward. Everything about her moved with a supernatural speed that defied logic.
Fritz shook his thoughts away as he made a plan to finish the vampire. Grabbing a mortar shell he ignited the fuse with a conjured match before approaching the edge. The lamia stole the shell from his hands with lightning speed. Her entire body drew upward in an instant before she threw the mortar shot with all her might. The shell slammed into the vampire as it tried to stand up from its fall. The undead abomination screeched in pain, as the shell exploded in a shower of holy water. Its cries of anguish joined the din of battle as his face melted into the ground below.
