Vengeful Domination
52 - Odysseus out for blood

52 - Odysseus out for blood

Eric wanted to take revenge against Shark.

He wanted to make that souffle-shaped bastard desire a quick death before disappointing his expectations.

After all, death is often too big of a gift for some individuals.

Was he exaggerating cultivating these thoughts just because of that lusty eyes and words Shark made him see and hear?

Not in the slightest, in his opinion.

In general, but especially between adventurers is crucial to make known your own boundaries.

Eric knew that by experience.

But if all of this was true, why, in this moment, was he retreating against Shark…why was his face bleeding?!

One hour before the present moment, while Shark was still blabbering and Eric was already imagining the epitaph he would engrave on the tombstone of that sad imitation of a gangster, a loud thunder rumble interrupted their respective thought processes.

As different as their own personalities.

*That’s strange, the cloud formations didn’t resemble those preceding a tempest… *

*I guess my aching bones won’t let me be on top tonight because of my rheumatism.

Those two new beauties will have to move on their own… *

Somehow Shark ignored the shivers down his spine caused by the icy stare Eve was giving him.

At the same time, his subconscious decided to interpret those fixed eyes positively.

*Ah, she can’t lift her eyes from me.

How am I able to make fall for me every sex slave? *

Sadly his vision of reality was that distorted.

Power gave him confidence, and slowly that feeling became more and more irrational.

It reached the point where killing someone in order to gain his slaves was just the regular course of nature.

As natural as an object falling to the ground if left go, the present situation was just the strong gaining what was supposed to be his own, to begin with.

In the same way, the lifeless eyes of Shark’s slaves appeared to him as simply relaxed.

Those were filled with trust in his choices, to the point of entrusting their whole being to his decisions.

Eve perceived the sick mentality of Shark and tried scaring him in the most inconspicuous way, remembering Eric’s indications.

Rubra, on the other side, had her hands full, trying to remember all the social cues she had observed in the Plaza this morning.

She was mainly observing the current situation while checking on Rita.

Unaware that Rita herself had already lost most of her interest in Eric or the approximate intention behind Shark’s fixed eyes.

Those deductions were possible only for higher leveled social animals like Eve and Eric.

Rita, catching the chance given her by the sudden sound in the sky, tried defusing the situation as much as possible.

‘’If you want to take the test now, all you have to do is write your name and age here! ’’

Eric instantaneously grabbed the three pieces of paper and started writing, using the ink pen before him.

A minute later, Eric was grinning slightly.

The reason was the name he wrote, a name that was particularly apt to his destiny.

That name was of a king that found revenge after a long and uncertain journey.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

A king who accepted retribution only if paid in blood.

On the paper was written something that Rubra especially didn’t understand.

Name: Odysseus

Age: 28

As she was starting speaking searching for explanations, Eric grabbed her hand while giving her the paper with his left hand.

‘’Rina, here.

Your twenty-first birthday is due in a short time, am I right? ‘’

Rubra may have been naive when it came to social cues.

But when Eric started nodding while talking to her using clearly false information and similarly signaling to nod by moving his thumb on her hand, she caught the message loud and clear.

Finally, Eve smiled, watching the scene, and wrote on her respective paper.

Name: Evane

Age: 19

Eve sought his eyes when she finished writing as if asking some prize for her cunning.

Eric nodded to her while smirking slightly.

He was telling her to wait.

Then made a mental note for his future self about the most effective approach to make her listen to him.

None in the Guild seemed surprised by the information given or the actions of the three.

After all, they were totally engrossed in the wait for the fight.

Rita took the protocols back and checked with the three for any errors.

Then she talked to them while showing her business-like smile.

*All I can say is good luck…and sorry. *

Her work was done after the subsequent sentence.

She didn’t want to see another party being destroyed because of Shark, but at the same time, telling something about it to them would mean accruing the rage of the alleged killer, something that any weak person with even minimal self-preservation instinct would never do.

Then she continued, deciding to wash her hands of it.

‘’Okay, if you are ready, you can go to the waiting rooms near the training grounds in the back of the building.

You will be called shortly for the start of the test.‘’

Eric nodded to her, his face still full of confidence mixed with a hint of boredom and a dash of anger.

His steps were slow and stable as if he knew where to go.

Every adventurer couldn’t honestly find anything rookie-like in that person.

Whether they decided to love him or hate him, that person seemed to have something hidden to back his confidence.

Their eyes were on those three people walking in the same direction.

Some thought they were just a new batch of beasts going to the slaughterhouse called Shark.

Others were ready to bet on those confident eyes of Eric.

After the three left the entrance hall, directed towards the back of the building, all hell broke loose.

‘’2 gold coins for Shark K.O.ing all three of them! ‘’

Instantly.

‘’1 against! ‘’

Then that greedy music accelerated even more as the sums of money called in the air grew even more.

As that mayhem had completely filled the room, none caught a shadow leaving the guild.

Fast it moved far from that city block.

Then his shape became visible again, and an arm holding a communication sphere appeared out from the black cloak covering that shadow.

‘’Yes sir, someone interesting appeared. ‘’

The voice resounded in that silent, fated night.

Only the wind was there to hear it.
