Chapter 8: Audience

CHAPTER 8

March 12, 2019

Mytikas Kingdom

Day ??

1

Everyone convened in The Megaron. Damion was told by the Queen that this is the largest and most significant section of the building. He would also learn it is called Lepritida, built during and honored by her predecessor, King Lepritida II. The meeting was originally in one of the large rooms, mainly where the four men in the cloak were. However, there is a change of plans due to not realizing the amount of audience on site, and it’s in shambles after Damion executed the four men due to their physical marks showing allegiance to the Xacrobar Empire. Due to that problem, the room was locked and under reconstruction and review for future purposes that are to be determined.

The Queen walks up to her throne. After she sat down, she commenced the audience, and everyone gathered in front of her, sitting on the floor. Damion pulls a chair and sits across Queen Isaella’s throne. “I will have Damion to begin.”

“Sorry we had to convene in a different part of the place, but we have to as there aren’t many seats for the whole crowd and it's more proper doing it in The Megaron. Anyway, shall we begin?” He nodded to the Queen.

“The treaty has been revoked. The contract states that all parties respect current territories after the conflict ended a decade ago on this continent. Unfortunate coincidence when Damion awakens, it is followed by a twist of events revealing how many of our men are committing potential espionage. That alone can signal another invasion to reclaim what's left of this continent.”

“I want to add to that. I mentioned briefly the treaty to the audience, but also the four men in cloaks, what are they called? Your cabinet?”

“Council Elders.” Queen Isaella replied.

“Right, Council Elders. First-time news to the Queen and the majority of the audience. The Elders was executed in that room.”

“What?” The massive audience all turned, and even the Queen was completely baffled. “Where are the bodies now?”

“Still in the room for all I know. I was the one that killed the elders. Their cover was also blown, and one of the hoplites saw it first and notified me.” He depicted with his hand, revealing their covered wrists till they all sat down, displaying the exact mark the general and his men have on their necks, letting one of the hoplites raise his hand. “Yes, you have a question?”

“If the deceased Council Elders are part of the culprit and are the highest in the hierarchy other than the Queen. Could it be possible that the rest of the council be influenced by them and join the other side?”

“It is a possibility, in that scenario we.”

The Queen interrupts, “Sorry, this is where I have to step in. I want to assemble a special team to investigate every present Council member for any potential espionage and betrayal acts. Then we abolish the council after the review is finalized.” She then requests a table and stack of papyrus paper.

“Well, better than my proposal. But yea. The action of war is imminent otherwise, the Xacrobar empire wouldn’t take time to waste just for influencing levels of hierarchy in the Mytikas Kingdom. This is one of the tactics used to get information to find what action is the most favorable in making Mytikas weaker.” Damion sighed.

The Queen receives her table, pulling out one blank papyrus paper. “I want all of you in the audience to sign your name initials or signature onto this, offering your loyalty through the end. Anyone breaking this allegiance will fall under relentless repercussions.” She signs her and asks Damion to sign his as well. Both their signatures filled the top of the paper, and Damion gave a line break below. “Now everyone, one by one in a line, comes up to the throne and signs below the line break.” Damion proclaiming. He starts with the front row and will go by each row towards the last. The process took around half an hour, and Damion kept count of the attendance.

“Two hundred twenty. Twenty-one. Twenty-two.” He then wrote the number below the last signature, and the audience sat back down at their spots. “That should be it.” He told Queen Isaella and put the reed pen adjacent to the inkwell, away from a slight stack of signed papers.

“Sir and my Queen.” one of the servants came to the door.

“What is it?” Damion turned around.

“Charon has arrived. Should I report him to the audience?”

The Queen nodded, “Yes, please. Quickly.”

“Well, we have more new information to tell. So please stick with us longer.”

The door opens, revealing a tall and lanky individual. To Damion’s surprise, he isn’t wearing Mytikan clothing but modern, wearing a black blazer and trousers. The footsteps from his combat boots echo throughout the Megaron. He went to America. Damion inferred from his t-shirt having the flag outline of the United States and probably an off-brand you can buy conveniently from the store.

“Where is the king? Who is this on the throne?” Charon then looks at Damion muddled by his clothing. Is he from the outside world?

“The king is dead. You were gone for 52 years.”

Fifty-Two Years?!! Charon’s face plunged. “That ain't possible. I’ve only been gone for a year!” He is in great distress and denial over the news. “So what has happened to the Mytikas Kingdom since I disappeared?”

Damion responded, “Mytikas Kingdom is at its worst state. Ten years ago, it lost territory to where it is today. The kingdom is a small fraction of its former size from what I depict on the map." He steps down from the platform. “Don’t blame yourself for this.”

Aware that Charon might swoon from the unintentional burden, Damion whisked for his chair and set it behind him so he won't fall to the floor. “Charon, you ok?” Man, he is in a state of stress. “Somebody get some water, please!” He requested.

The I.E.P. popped up, indicating he had a weakening effect.

Weakening in Effect

Duration:

20 Minutes

Spiritual Awareness Activated

Twenty minutes is a bit, and we don’t have time in this urgent situation. Everyone in the room has a decent amount of energy in their soul, so nothing unordinary. Damion wondered if he is prone to emotional distress as it can downgrade his whole character to a standstill. He has one option in mind.

The servant came in with a kylix filled with water. She poured some of the water into his mouth. Charon slowly became more alert as he took the Kylix and drank more water. A little irked, Damion pressed his chest, causing him to rouse up and rebound back to normal. “What are you doing?”

“Ah, great. It’s working. My Iryoku, or energy, is flowing into your body, getting you out of distress. The heat and burn are pushing you to full alert.” Damion then let his palm go. “There. We don’t have time for problems when Mytikas is at stake.”

Weakening Effect Depleted

“Sorry, I’m just in a state of shock and distress when certain things happen.”

“No issue, we have all been through it once. Now with everyone listening, you said it’s only been a year correct?”

Charon nodded and explained how he first noticed the portal near the Mytikas’ agora. People were curious about the phenomenon, but being one of the high generals of that time, he proceeded to walk in first. Few follow behind him until they abruptly dissipate, shutting him off from Mytikas. They journeyed downward through Mount Olympus, suffered massive injuries, and the whole group temporarily suffered amnesia.

“Then what happened after?”

“We got sent to America who, willing to help us get through our supposed lives. Learned English and tried adapting to the new life until our memory returned one day.”

“When was this?”

“It was during an incident at a company in Texas around late afternoon.”

“Stop. What city were you in during that time?”

“I was in Colgar.”

“So we are in the same world and city at one point.” Damion rubbed his chin. “Have we met before?”

Charon shook his head. Damion mentions how many days he has been in a coma in Mytikas and translates that to the time of his world. “Six hours and fourteen minutes after I reached the entrance to Mytikas, you came.”

This means I have around seven years at most before I have to return, stopping this alien invasion.

“What about you? What brings you to Mytikas?” Charon asked, and the reaction from the audience expressed interest in Damion's response. Swiftly, he figured out a response worded in a way that at least everyone could interpret. He walks up to the throne platform.

“Well. The incident Charon mentioned is actually how my journey begins. During the incident, an unnatural creature bonded with me and fused with my entire right arm. Suddenly, I got pulled into a conflict with two human-like beings who are after that creature. The battle wrecked the building, and they left behind a map circling here. I left the building, went home, gathered all my things, and arrived here.”

“You were bloody when we found you at the entrance.” The Queen said.

Damion nodded as he added that he dealt with another battle with a group of the exact human-like beings in the air and escaped with his vehicle, free-falling thousands of feet, or pous as they call it. “Anyways, that is how I came looking battered and blood-soaked. That impact also killed the creature, reverting my arm's skin to a normal human. Now I’m here to find a way to protect my world but also hopefully gain any info about that creature’s arrival.”

“What’s next for you?” Thaeda said, sitting in the front row.

“One condition, you let me lead the military forces. That’s it. In return Mytikas gains dominant power.”

“How?” Charon asks.

The Queen cuts in, “I don’t think you want to know immediately. Making him demonstrate will destroy the Megaron.” She gulped, “You just arrived, so I understand. But, the rest of us here have witnessed in horror, of his capabilities. Lastly, with Damion’s condition, I accept the offer. That will conclude our session with this audience.” She steps off her throne, followed by Damion, Thaeda, Orion, and Lancer, leaving the Megaron.

Damion stops briefly and gives his first order to the Hoplites, “You all dismissed. For the safety and confidentiality of our men, all of you will be stationed here. Use the front lot temporarily as a place of camp.”
