CHAPTER 7
March 12, 2019
Mytikas Kingdom
Day ??
1
Queen Isaella and Thaeda sat nervously in the dining room, unaware of what was happening outside of the room. The two guards Damion instructed earlier stood by the closed doors of the dining room. Loud bangs and constant footsteps vibrate through the walls as they sit, waiting for their meals.
“Wait, this guy has the mark too!!” a voice behind the walls sounded like yelling at someone. Intense footsteps rumbling across.
"Is this one of them sir?"
Sir. My general here is dead. Who are these following orders from? I have a bad feeling about this. Queen Isaella thought as she directed her eyes to Thaeda, gesturing to her to stay next to her due to the large table. One of the two guards next to the door ran up to protect Thaeda and Queen Isaella.
“No! Please. Please! Don’t!” a voice yelled.
SPLATTER.
The footsteps now reached the door.
The Queen breathed heavily, and her heartbeat rose, pounding her chest. Thaeda felt a pulse as she sat directly with her but got spooked when she heard the beating. She embraces the Queen, hopefully making her comfortable and at ease. She saw the Queen’s pupils dilated, fixing towards the door.
BANG.
The door flew open, causing the first guard near the door to go off balance. An enemy guard was seen tossed across the dining room. Thaeda noticed the mark on its neck. Another one?! She thought of the number of guards in the building, as she had been in the place many times being the Queen’s right hand. “Get Down!” The second guard said.
Theda and The Queen embraced under the dining table, covering their heads. They then heard heavy, slow footsteps entering the dining room.
“Sir.” The second guard sheaths his blade.
“They in here?” a familiar voice.
Both Thaeda and The Queen lifted their heads and exchanged expressions. Was that Damion? They both thought.
“Yes, sir. They are under the table.” The second guard responded.
“You can bring them up now. It’s all clear.”
“Alright.” He kneeled under the table. “My Queen and Thaeda, It’s Damion. You are safe now. Come on.” The second guard helped The Queen and Thaeda out from under the table. Both sighed in relief and lifted themselves.
The Queen suddenly shrieked, unintentionally scaring Thaeda too, due to almost getting jumped scared by bloodied Damion.
Damion looks at himself and backs up, recognizing it, “Oh Christ, Sorry about my looks, my Queen. There were more enemies inside the building. Me and the hoplites were scrambling all over the place hunting for any traitors hiding. Again my apologies for the appearance.” He sees pieces of bread on the table. “Ah, perfect.” He placed his M4 rifle on the table, grabbed the apomagdalia, wiped his hands on it, and crumbled it to dust. “Now my hands are clean, I’m famished.” He looks up at the Queen’s face, still frightened. “Please, I’m sorry about this chaos. Let’s eat. Hopefully, the food will keep us at ease and relaxed.”

Thaeda seems more relaxed now, based on the body language given off that she is safe. She laid herself leaning on the back of the chair. “What is gonna happen to us now?”
Damion paused for a moment.
“Damion?”
“Ah, nothing. I got lost in thought. Anyways, our allied hoplites and such are having lunch just like we are but in a separate room. The chefs and cooks are all safe during this commotion and have finished cooking our lunch.” Damion sighed and surrendered to his dining chair. “A coincidence that I am awakened, and then an attack happens within the Queen’s men in a short time frame. I feel this is a bigger threat to you and to your kingdom. Things break loose, and a full-blown war might happen.”
Thaeda's eyes turned dead serious after hearing, “full-blown war.”
“How can you know about war and kingdom? You only just woke up.”
“The map I saw in the Gallery answers my questions of where I’m at..”
“What do you know?”
Damion pointed upward, “North. Xacrobar Empire.”
The Queen and Thaeda are stunned by the information given. Thaeda leans to her seat again, astounded, and she loudly requests red wine.
Damion turned to the first guard, “What’s your name, soldier?”
“Orion.”
“Well, Orion, tell one of the servants or anyone to give us some red wine. That would be appreciated.”
“Right away,” Orion answered and dashed out of the dining room.
The Queen muttered.
“What?” Damion asked. “Are you trying to say something, my Queen?”
It can’t be. They broke the treaty. The Queen got stressed out while trying to keep her serious face.
“I can see you sweating. What's the matter?” Thaeda said.
“Mam!” Damion raises his voice, and she looks at him. “You were saying something.”
‘It’s just I can’t believe they would break the treaty.” tears slowly flowed out of her face.
“Oh, yea I talked with the guys about that.” Damion rubs his forehead and summons his notebook. “You can’t back away from this. You will have to decide sooner or later how to handle these fuckers.” He writes down all the stuff he discovered during the hunt. Just in time, the food and wine arrive.
Damion and the two are given their kylix, and the servants pour the red wine. “Thanks.” Damion took a sip of the red wine. “Nice taste. I’ve never drunk one in a long time. Ladies, please enjoy and savor our lunch. Once the meal is finished, we have serious business to deal with.” Damion drinks more red wine as the servants place the cuisine across the table. He also invited Orion and the other guard to attend lunch with them.
2
The meals served are vastly large and not what Damion was expecting due to the fact in actual Greece lunch was served in smaller servings. When he first woke up he had no idea where he was until he saw the map in the gallery minutes ago, realizing he is not in the usual Earth anymore. The similarities and differences between Mytikas and Ancient Greece on Earth is distinguishable but at least the cuisines are close to exact.
Damion ain’t into fruits so he had a hard appetite compared to everyone else in the room who enjoyed figs and other fruits. He took a piece of salted fish and bread along with the extra wine. He took a bite of the salted fish.
Hunger Effect Ceased…
I really only need a bite to end the hunger effect? Not bad at all. He finished the slice of bread and the glass of red wine. Damion opens the I.E.P. interface and a new menu flashes below:
* Overall
* Skills
* Knowledge
* Currency
* Inventory
* Help
He clicks it and a search bar appears with a keyboard. Damion types up about food and taps “I.E.P. Food Basics” Scrolling briefly, a paragraph in highlighted stated, “Only drinks or edible liquids can affect the user’s statistics. Food as a whole only nullifies the hunger effect and satisfaction, nothing more.”
Damn. Making food less important. Damion internally felt relieved and not at the same time as he does enjoy eating meals but now I.E.P. saying it doesn’t benefit him other than nullifying hunger, he feels wasted. However, he at least doesn't have to depend on food often so one less consistent thought in his mind. He then searches Alcohol. The result was positive and pleasing to Damion, “Under the I.E.P. Users are immune to Alcoholic products. Eliminating drunkenness.”
“Hmm this alcohol tastes great” he murmured and turned to the second guard, sitting to his right. “I forgot to ask but what is your name?”

“Lancer.” He replied.
“Lancer and Orion. Alright I’ll remember your names.”
Loud footsteps sounded like running hurling up to the dining room. A guard ran up to the doorway, breathing heavily.
“What’s the matter?” The Queen asks.
“Charon has returned!!” The guard in his high voice.
“What?!” The Queen drops her fork and knife.
“You mean the Charon?!” Theada said.
“Yes. He is heading here now!”
“Direct him here when he arrives.” The Queen said.
“Yes, my Queen!” The guard takes a breather before running back out who knows where.
Damion, curious about the matter, went up and asked the Queen and Thaeda, "Charon? Who is he?”
“Right.” The Queen took a sip of her wine and leaned back to her chair. “I was gonna tell you eventually, when you came to us unconscious the whole Mytikas thought it was Charon as he left the same portal at the time was a mystery. Still 52 years later. Now that he is back you can add on if it’s familiar.”
Damion asked her if he is some legend or a celebrity and she replied that she wasn’t born at that time so it’s a legend or stories in her time of youth as everyone in her generation was taught about him in history and language courses. Charon was also a respected general during the time of his disappearance.
52 years. That’s more than half a century but then again I don’t know about the time differences yet. I have to ask him. Damion stood up, “Can somebody give me a long rope!” He yelled across the hall and one of the gladiators arrived with a barrel of rope. He untangled the rope to a considerate length and asked the gladiator to slice it. “Great. Thanks.” Damion said.
“What’s the rope for?” Thaeda asked.
Damion ties one end of the rope to the buttstock of his M4 rifle. “For this. Like a strap carrying a bag except it’s for a weapon.” He finishes with another end of the rope and tightens it with the other end, forming a single point. Then puts it on his right dominant shoulder. He tried to yank it and the rope didn’t loosen. Good. Pleased with the outcome, he sat back down and finished the remaining salted fish.
“Thanks for the welcoming lunch.” Damion took a gulp of water and poured the remaining water onto his face.. He then stood up from his seat.
“Where are you going?” Thaeda asked
“I promised to have a meeting with everyone in the other room. They are waiting for me to start debriefing. I would recommend you two to join as well, once you finish your meals.” Damion walks out of his seat.
“Could you mind waiting a little longer?” The Queen said.
Damion stopped and looked back. He felt an unpleasant aura coming from her and the stare is similar to Thaeda but now seeing upfront he understands now why the people at the crowd during the duel act like that. Internally annoyed and eyes closed, “Sure, I guess they could wait.” He went back to his seat and sat down and observed the two savoring their meals to delight. Orion and Lancer had already finished their meals expressionless, showing no emotions from the good food.
As he waits, Damion opens his I.E.P. interface on the table and asks Thaeda a question. “I forgot. You haven’t answered me this question. What did you guys do to my arm?” He lifted his right arm while he tapped the interface on the table.
“I’m not sure.” She finishes her meal and leaves the fork and knife on her plate.
“What do you mean you are not sure?”
She pointed at his arm, “We are not capable of changing anything that happens to your arm. However, we did everything in terms of nursing you back to health till you wake up. The doctors said your recovery was beyond normal like no one has ever seen. Three days before you wake up, all of a sudden, what’s covering you starts to disintegrate into thin air, and that is it..”
Damion felt disappointed. All of that trouble for nothing, and now finally settling the matter that Helix has ceased to exist. As he opened the overall screen, he told Thaeda, “Look. In the past few minutes, I started reflecting on that duel we both unintentionally did. One side of me thinks I could have just waited until now to ask you or the Queen the question for the first time. Maybe if that happened, I wouldn’t have to force myself to cut off twelve heads and you might still have that ego. That side of me wants to say I’m sorry about that.” He paused briefly.
“But then again, we wouldn’t have something to reflect back on if it was the right or wrong thing to do. I still stand that losing is the reality check of our own character.”

Queen Isaella finished her meal and was about to tell Damion she was ready to go, but she stopped when she saw the two talking. She scoots up her seat closer to the table and listens. Very surprising. She internally thought.
Theada flustered as she held tightly at the hilt of Damion’s sword, “I don’t understand what you want me to do with this. Also, you don’t have to apologize. It’s my fault for losing emotions, to begin with.”
Damion called the servant out, “May you prepare a set of cobwebs and such, please.”
“I’ll see if I can find it.”
“Thanks.”
Thaeda heard cobwebs and she glanced at the sword, “Don’t tell me you.”
“Your perception is spot on. You lost to me in the duel and came out with no weapon.” Damion rubs continuously at the palm of his hands before opening his left-hand open flat. “You never had the chance to land a hit either, so I’m allowing you to inflict some damage.”
Everyone else’s eyes widened at the end of his statement.
“Now Now. Let’s not get too hasty. You were in a coma for two weeks, and you're already doing mad things.” Queen Isella said. She ordered Thaeda and Damion to not proceed.
“But” Thaeda said.
“No buts. I’m very serious.”
Damion sighs and glances back to his I.E.P. screen on the table and scrambles through the interface until he finds the public visibility option, clicking it. Thaeda covered her eyes as the I.E.P screen illuminated its light outward. He then returns to the Skill Tree screen. Only having 15 skill points, he selects everything except Widerstand I, II, and Havoc skill.

Hmm, different this time. When Damion first selected his first skill back on the plane, he went overheating for minutes before cooling down after a cold shower. This time nothing dangerous. He felt his legs and arms tighter and heard a crack. Damion jolted up and pushed the chair away. “Don’t listen to her. I just got a power-up. Do It!”
“NO!” The Queen jumps off her seat and runs up to the two.
“Do IT!” Damion telepathically said towards Thaeda, provoking her, and she gave one slash. “GRH.” He grunted and told her she let go of her hands now. Thaeda lets go, only for everyone to see in the room where his blade is attached to his palm.

Queen Isaella, next to Thaeda, covered her eyes in distraught. She is not used to seeing blood that close and vivid.
Unfortunately for the servant, she came in at the wrong time, dropping the basket and letting out a wail. The wail caused attention with the whole hoplites as they appeared at the entryway in seconds and witnessed Damion’s palm.
“I swear I’m okay.” Damion chuckled, and with his right hand, he jerked the sword off his hand. Blood splattered across the floor and evaporated into thin air. Then showed everyone, much to their shock, watching the blood immediately dry up and the dark red being sucked up back inside. The wound closed up without issues, “See. I’m fine.” He squeezed his right fist a couple of times.
Damion turned to Thaeda again, “Now you did it. Is this the proper closure of our first troubles?”
Thaeda hasn’t gotten used to it but tried to communicate internally, “Yes. I want to move on.”
Damion nodded and redirected back to everyone, “Uhm sorry for the trouble. I was just settling some troubling issues that are now finished.
“Are you a demigod?!” One of the hoplites behind the servant asked and followed with the head expressions of others.
“No. Sorry to disappoint. Maybe we can reach that level after the war begins.”
“Can that be even possible? We don’t have a whole lot against the Xacrobar Empire.”Queen Isaella said
“I proposed we work together to lead all the Mytikas Kingdom’s armed forces. With my help, all of us can be fearless of death, breaking the blocker of our potential.”
“When will discussion take place?” one of the Hoplite asked.
“Right now and if Charon jumps in, let him in.”
