Chapter 5: Plane

CHAPTER 5

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP BEEP!

Damion is suddenly awakened by the constant beeping noise.

His whole visual heads-up display bickering red, and he got himself out of bed.

⚠New Objective Added⚠:

* Arrive to Greece - 286 km

* Escape the Cargo Plane - 20 m

“Huh!”

BOOM!

Damion heard a loud bang, and the plane suddenly shuddered.

“Get UP. We have to go now!” Helix yelled.

He jumped out of the bed and grabbed his backpack. A second turbulence occurs and steers in the opposite direction, causing Damion to lose balance and hit himself on the wall. With the plane not stabilizing, Damion summons his sword from the inventory. Now flying sideways, he unsheathes his sword and stabs the wooden floor. He then placed his sheath under his belt, tightening it. To grip himself up. He swirls, lifts himself, and jumps towards the mounted bed.

Damion held tight to the bed frame with both of his hands. Using his feet, he yanked the blade off the floor and flickered his foot upward tossing the sword towards him. He grasps it with his left hand and repeats until he reaches the right edge of the door.

He tries to pull the door in his direction but to no avail.

“Shit.”

He suddenly remembers the skills he obtained. Based on his situation now, he can’t use a sword skill, or he would return to square one, plummeting back down. He could use a gun but doesn’t want to have both hands occupied, so he considered one remaining option. Damion glances at the door, and with his right arm gripping the hilt, he clenches his left hand.

“HELIX PUNCH” Damion thrusts his fist toward the door and plummets into his room, hitting the wall.

Crack.

Damion, seeing the windows cracking, threw the sword out of his room and leaped to the doorway with his grip on the edge. He flips himself out of the room, landing on the hallway's wall. He sheathed his sword and followed the direction of the new pinpoint from his objective. As he sprinted, a bright blue projectile flew toward him. In return, he leaped mid-air with his left leg extended in a full rotation. After he rotated once, it clashed at the base of his foot.

With enough pressure he gained from the flip, Damion was able to kick the projectile, forcing it back in the opposite direction. The project then exploded in the distance revealing a few human silhouettes plummeting mid-air.

He landed back safely and sprinted, eventually reaching the stairway on his right. The pinpoint is behind the stairway, and Damion looked back. An explosion detonated. Scorching blazes overwhelmed the hallway and zoomed toward Damion. He glanced inside and leaped to the uppermost railing. He directed his legs into the stairway and let go of the rail, sending him inside, barely making it in time.

Damion protected his head by bracing his arms up, hitting the wall hard. Before dropping down, he clasped onto a rope. Using both feet, he forces himself upward and realizes he is in the rear cargo. He was right next to the back of his car with the tires strapped to the cargo floor.

As he nudged his right foot over the car, commotion can be heard from the opposite side. “These guys have no shits,” he grunted. Damion withdrew his Glock 19, and while gripping the rope with his right arm, he fired two shots into the opening. A few Riseods came out.

Damn It. Damion missed both shots. BANG. "Christ!" A bullet missed his head, and Damion fired one above him, hitting one in the eye and again at his neck. That Riseod went motionless after jerking back abruptly midair from the neck shot.

The motionless body slumped downwards, and taking the chance, Damion leaped upward towards the body and used the body as leverage, and jumped in the air again, firing a shot to the second Riseod.

He landed above his trunk with his rear hitting the back glass. Using both legs to keep himself from falling, he unequipped his Glock and unsheathed his sword. That previous shot missed the second Riseod but brought Damion enough time to inflict a slash of energy.

Bright blue energy flies toward the remaining Riseods. Now wasting another time given, Damion withdraws his Glock again and fires at the back glass. He drops into his sedan, hitting himself on the thigh at the center console.

Damion lifts himself off the narrow space between the front and rear seat and swiftly crawls to the front seat. Once properly seated, he turned on the car, and as he was about to push the pedal, he realized the tires were strapped to the floor. He looks at the rear mirror, and nothing is behind him other than various tinkering explosions.

Still having his sword, he pulled down his window. “HYAHH” He gives a simple swipe motion, inflicting the surroundings with fire. Damion slammed the gas pedal, increasing the friction and heat. As he pulled the window up, a new popup, “What now?!”

⚠ New Objective Added ⚠:

Oh fuck, seriously? What did he do during this? Damion turned around and witnessed him running with something on his belt. “Oh, hell no!” Damion yelled and slammed the pedals once more. Snap. He heard the snap and the car vroom out of the plane. The car leaps off the plane, and without facing back, Damion summons his M16 Carbine and points it rearward through the window. He pulls and holds the trigger and throws it at the passenger seat after using all the ammo.

BOOM!

He grabs onto the wheel and steers the car in the air, looking back and seeing all debris and smoke. He pierced the blade to the center of the window, shattering it and unleashing Pre-Hellbringer. The blade enlightens on fire, and using the side view mirror, he positions the blade as close to the bottom rear edge of the car.

“Come On, Come On, Come On!” He said repeatedly, as he aligned the blade with his left hand.

“Damion, hurry, or we toast in the water.”

“I know!!”

He lost focus, causing the sword to misalign. “GRHHHH!!” Damion grunted. Disregarding the tenderness in his left forearm, he readjusted his hand and was finally in perfect position. The blade exerts the fire towards the rear. He stomps on the gas pedal emitting combustion from behind. Yes Finally. The car speeds up exponentially, lifting it back into the air. He summons his objective menu, and the distance to Greece drops rapidly.

“How much more time before I have to stop this?”

“Five Seconds.”

“Three Two One.” Slams on the brakes. The boost and fire dissipate, and the car simultaneously returns to free fall.

“If we time this right, we should touchdown at a downward slope, passing briefly of Mytikas. We would be just facing in the opposite direction as behind us, leading upward to Mytikas.”

“Let’s do it.” He said confidently. “You crazy, the car will be toasted!” Helix replied. Damion then summons his sword and glock back into his inventory.

Until the landing zone, he leaned back on his seat, admiring the blue daylight sky. The view descends fast as he can compare the stomach feeling to that in the elevator. Seconds feeling like minutes, he eventually passed through the height of clouds, and looking down at the terrain became clearer.

“Here we go. Brace yourselves!” He said to Helix as he tightened his seatbelt and hung onto the grab handle. Within a few hundred feet left, he clenched his eyes closed.

SHATTERS!

“Huh, phew-” Damion lifted his face from the airbag on his steering wheel. “Was I knocked out?”

“For ten minutes,” Helix responded with a hint of relief.

Damion wiped his eyes and saw stenches of blood on the airbag. “Must have hit hard.” He murmured. He touched his nose and jolted. Drops of blood on his finger.

He pushed the driver's door and did not budge. He gave another push, no movement. Instead, he glances behind him at the back. He unbuckles his seatbelt, causing him to slump on the steering wheel, honking its horn. Man. Seriously?! Damion's shoulders are sore, and he feels a pop as he lifts himself from the steering wheel.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Embracing the pain, and without hesitation, he exerted upwards with his legs reaching to the rear seats. Using his right shoulder, he pushes him behind to go into the passenger seat. He took one deep breath and got himself out of the sedan through the back glass. At the furthest end of the wrecked sedan, he rolls off to his right hitting the rocky terrain.

“Christ…” he faintly mumbled. His right arm got crushed, and the sparks flicked from the cracks. Too much that Helix properties were disabled. With only his left hand that could move, Damion summoned his sword again. He struggles to get up properly as his back is tender. The difficulty of standing upright is unbearable. All his effort getting him to stand cost most of his stamina.

STA: 15/180

Not good. I have to make it up to the peak. Damion didn't want to think anymore other than getting up to Mytikas. He gradually walks upward with his sword as a cane, and Damion is close to hunching over.

Despite such a short distance, it felt like miles' worth of hiking as Damion made it to the highest peak of Mount Olympus. Now on the uppermost point of the mountain, his body urged him to lay rest on the only flat surface of Mytikas. As much as he tried to resist, the urge won over, and as his whole body lay flat on the surface, he immediately dozed off, uncertain of the future.

3

Damion awoke later to find himself lying on a bed. He looked around himself, and the first thing was he was in entirely different clothes. White robe across his whole body and boots on, very unusual with robes, but he could care less. Where am I?

Objective Completed:

* Arrive to Greece

* Escape the Cargo Plane

* Kill Hendricks (Optional)

Completed? So, it’s over. Damion lifted himself from the bed.

“Sleep well?” A feminine voice said.

He jolted to his left to see a voluptuous woman sitting across from his bed. Who is she? Did she watch me sleeping the whole time? “You look fine. Come on, get up.” the woman said. She then stood up from the chair.

Seems my body is back to normal. Damion moved to the edge, let his toes reach the floor, and he stood up firmly.

“Follow me.” the woman said.

He went behind her, and she opened the curtains and left the room.

Damion’s eyes widened, fascinated by the overwhelming architecture and the interior. The area is luminous and mighty. They came out assuming it was a rental room. There were multiple doorways covered in curtains, and both walked out of the main building, revealing a massive central public space. Am I in Ancient Greek? This has to be the agora. Civilians passing by were wearing white robes just like him, except a few looked like soldiers with the helmet. “Wait.” the woman said.

As Damion and the woman waited through the walking crows, he pinched his hand, still able to sense it, and checked his pulse and detected a heartbeat. Still alive. He thought. Until now, he glanced at his right arm and noticed the carbon skin and the features from Helix gone. His right forearm now has a few straight, bold scars but other than that, ordinary skin.

He feels the back of his neck where the pieces and such are gone too. He checks around his body and still has the same enhanced physical characteristics post-fusion. “Helix? Helix, you here?” Damion telepathically asked. Silence. He asks again. Continuous silence is making him worried. Especially when he doesn’t know how long he has been out laying on the bed but also in different clothes, and Helix is not responding. The heads-up display also disappeared, and Damion turned to the woman, and she looked at him back.

“What did you guys do to me?” Damion asked

“Silence, we don’t talk outside” She gave him a menacing stare.

What the hell is wrong with her?

⚠ New Objective Added ⚠:

* Stop and win the duel

Ah, thank goodness. Damion was a little relieved the I.E.P. was still with him and recalled a line text reading, “For example, if you lose Helix, I.E.P. will remain functional as normal.”

That is the line I read during the plane. Don’t tell me that is a coincidence. Internally furious with his eyes now locked on the woman. The surroundings start to notice and stare.

“Teach him a lesson mam.” one of the voices in the crowd. The lady pulls out her sword.

I see she is well respected here. Damion theorized based on the crowd’s reaction. A health bar display pops up.

“Stand down!” a loud voice behind Damion yelled.

The ones in the crowd didn’t run away yet all kneeled to the floor. Even the woman forces herself up, kneeling on the floor.

“You must be Damion.”

Damion turns around facing a fairly tall beautiful woman with a notable scar on her forehead. She is wrapped under a cloak which also acts a dress. First impression she gives off a no-sense attitude, proven by her loud voice and the crowd kneeling to her immediately. She is with two of her, seemingly to be her guards. The woman gives a ecstatic expression as Damion notices her facial muscles relaxes when both made eye contact.

“And you are?”

“Name is Queen Isaella Panagos II. I apologize for the negligence that has been caused.”

Damion sheathed his sword and bowed. “No worries, my Queen. Where am I?”

“You are in the City of Mytikas. You’ve been asleep for two weeks, and you need lunch.” She then nudged her head to one of the guards to help lift the woman. “Please follow me.”

Damion felt his stomach grumble. Yeah, no kidding. I could use a meal. “Thank you, I am honored.” He follows her and changes his uniform through the I.E.P. as he walks. Flows of light swarm around Damion modifying his robe into his previous clothes. He did keep the boots as they were comfortable. The light dissipated, and he reverted to his T-shirt and long pants. He also kept the white robe as his upper layer hiding his t-shirt.

With a loud gasp from behind him, Damion stops and turns back to the crowd.

“What?!” He yelled frustratingly.

One of them stuttered and pointed at him, “Your clothes!” Their eyes widened as if they saw a witch or something.

“You guys getting freaked out on something like this?!” Calm down. They have never faced a human like me before. Damion controls himself, “Cough. Excuse me. Try not to get yourselves killed tonight. Reevaluate your actions as a lesson based on what you dealt with today.” Damion points his finger directly at the crowd and returns to Queen Isaella.

She stops. “Everyone in the crowd leaves!” Isaella ordered, giving the same glare the woman did to Damion.

The crowd jolted upward and bowed once and instantly dispersed.

Extremely loyal and cowardly all at once. Unbelievable.

“Finally, now we can go in peace.” She said,

They all walked to the large horse carriage. The two soldiers went up to the driver's seat. Damion helped the Queen enter the carriage, and he followed and sat the opposite across from her. The woman came up and sat next to her. Damion closes the carriage door.

Queen Isaella gives a knock, signaling the soldiers to move.

NEIGH.

The carriage moves and heads off.

Damion stares briefly at the woman while her head is down, sweat all over her face. “The crowd was cheering for her. Is she a famous warrior?”

“She rescued a team and annihilated a stampede of Arktos on her own.”

“Arktos as in bears. Impressive.”

“Losing is something she can’t cope with that well. She has held the spotlight since that event for a long time until today.”

“First time?!” Damion perceives the problem. I see. He promptly understands the situation. He has no regrets, and he has to distract her away from those emotions. Looking at her once more, “What’s your name?”

Queen Isaella nudged her arm, “Hey, talk to him.” she muttered.

“Tha-” the woman stutters.

“Tha what?” Damion leans up, giving her the same menacing stare.

“Thaeda.”

That will do. “Well, Thaeda. Nice to meet you.” Damion relaxes back to his seat. “My advice is not to take losses where you take such offense and shame. Otherwise, how the hell will you improve.”

Her haughty look abruptly returned, “How can you explain such matters about losing?! You are only doing this because you won!” She yelled at him while standing up over him in the carriage.

Damion returns with a smirk, “That is the spirit I waited for. To answer your rambling, you are completely off. For starters, I lost many times, much more than you can count. Two, I faced close calls of death before coming to Mytikas. Win is just minuscule without any competition or pressure.”

“You-” Thaeda grunted with clenched fists.

Damion, eyebrows raised. “Right?” He summons his Glock 19 on his lap. Thaeda saw it and stood back, sitting away from him and Queen Isaella. Damion looks at his Glock and back at her. “Seriously? It is just a weapon.” BANG. CRACK.

“Whoops.”

“Watch it!” The Queen shouted

Luckily the bullet flew into the air, but the loud bang startled the queen and Thaeda. The carriage stopped. “WHAT'S WRONG!” sound from one of the guards who jumped out of the driver's seat and opened the door.

“Nothing. Just go.” The queen insisted, and the guard closed the door. “Phew. Please, you took it too far.”

“Sorry.” Damion opened his robe and concealed his Glock in his holster before tying back his robe, covering it.

“We are almost here. We all conversate once we arrive.” The queen said.

For the remainder of the trip, Damion and the Queen laid back on their seats, relaxing while Thaeda was still agitated and sat away from the two.
