The announcement of the ferry's departure broke the silence, prompting the passengers to gather their belongings and head towards the boarding area. Dwight, Reese, Jasper, and Chloe joined the line of travelers making their way onto the ferry.
Once aboard, they found a spot on the upper deck with a clear view of the ocean. The cool sea breeze was refreshing after the long drive, and the gentle rocking of the boat was soothing. They settled into their seats, with Jasper and Chloe sitting side by side and Dwight and Reese taking seats opposite them.
As the ferry began its journey, Reese decided to use his spiritual sense to scan the area for any signs of trouble. Now that he had broken through to the peak of the Nether Realm, the range of his spiritual sense was now 250 meters.
Scanning the whole ferry was not a problem for him. He then closed his eyes briefly, focusing his energy to extend his awareness around the ferry. He was particularly concerned about anyone who might be a threat to Jasper and Chloe.
As he scanned the surroundings, Reese noted the usual mix of tourists and locals, all seemingly enjoying the trip. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary, but Reese remained vigilant.
Satisfied that there were no immediate threats, Reese opened his eyes and relaxed, but kept his senses alert. Just as he was about to engage in some light conversation, he noticed two young men approaching their group. The men were grinning and seemed to have their eyes set on Chloe.
"Hey there," one of the guys said, leaning a little too close to Chloe. "Name's Luke Fernandez. This is my buddy John Geminez. Mind if we join you?"
Chloe looked uncomfortable and glanced at Jasper, hoping he would handle the situation. Jasper, already on edge from the long journey and protective of his sister, immediately stood up and confronted the duo.
"Back off," Jasper said firmly, stepping between the men and Chloe. "She's not interested."
Luke, clearly not taking the hint, smirked. "Come on, man. We're just trying to be friendly."
Jasper's patience snapped. He shoved John back, causing him to stumble. "I said, leave her alone."
The ferry passengers around them turned to watch the commotion, but Reese quickly intervened before things escalated further. He stepped forward, his presence commanding attention.
"Alright, that's enough," Reese said calmly but with authority. "You heard him. Move along."
Luke, now angry, glared at Jasper. "Do you even know who my father is?"
Reese's eyes lit up after hearing Luke's question at Jasper. He didn't want to pass up this opportunity. "Your mother didn't tell you?" Reese asked mockingly while smiling.
Luke was stunned for a moment before he pointed at Reese angrily. "You!"
'Perfect,' Reese thought happily.

Reese smiled and said, "That's right." Then he cleared his throat and summoned his best Darth Vader voice. "Luke, I am your father!" Reese said in a very deep and menacing voice while trying to hold his laughter.
A good three seconds passed before someone burst out laughing, followed by another laugh, and so on. Some even clapped at how perfect the timing was.
Jasper and Dwight were holding their stomachs as they laughed hysterically. "Oh, Reese, I didn't know you were into Star Wars," Dwight said as he continued to laugh.
Even John, Luke's friend, couldn't hold himself back from chuckling a little.
Luke was so mad that he just left without saying anything.
As the laughter died down, Jasper wiped a tear from his eye and looked at Reese. "I can't believe you just did that. It was perfect!"
Chloe, still giggling, shook her head. "You sure know how to handle a situation, Reese."
Reese grinned. "Sometimes humor is the best way to diffuse tension. Plus, who can resist a good movie reference?"
Dwight clapped Reese on the back. "Well played, my friend. Well played."
The group settled back into their seats; the mood was much lighter now. The rest of the ferry ride was peaceful, with the group sharing stories and enjoying the scenic view.
After a smooth and eventful ferry ride, the vessel finally docked at the port of Santa Fe on Bantayan Island. The group disembarked, stepping onto the sunlit pier. The scene before them was breathtaking: the clear blue ocean stretched out to the horizon, its waters sparkling like a sea of sapphires. White sandy beaches lined the shore, inviting and pristine, while swaying palm trees added a touch of tropical paradise to the picturesque landscape.
As they moved towards the entrance of the port, Reese noticed a man in his mid-20s waiting for them, his demeanor confident and slightly imposing. Chloe's eyes lit up as soon as she spotted him.
"Alex!" she called out, her voice brimming with excitement.
Alex Barreto, Chloe's childhood sweetheart, stepped forward with a wide smile. "Chloe! It's been too long!" he said, opening his arms.
Chloe ran up to him, and they embraced warmly, both of them laughing and talking at the same time. Jasper followed closely behind, his expression a mix of happiness and relief. He shook Alex's hand firmly.
"It's good to see you, Alex," Jasper said.
"You too, Jasper," Alex replied, giving a friendly nod.
Reese and Dwight stood a bit behind, observing the reunion. Alex turned to them, his smile fading slightly. He gave a curt nod, acknowledging their presence but not offering a handshake.
"Alex," Dwight greeted him politely.
Alex nodded again. "Dwight."
Reese noticed the subtle shift in Alex's demeanor—a hint of superiority in his posture. "Nice to meet you, Alex; I'm Reese," Reese said, keeping his tone neutral.
"Likewise," Alex responded, his eyes briefly meeting Reese's before shifting back to Chloe.
As they began to walk towards the port's exit, Reese couldn't help but think to himself, 'Well, someone sure thinks highly of himself. This should be interesting.'
Chloe, oblivious to the undercurrents, chatted animatedly with Alex about their plans for the day. Jasper joined in, his mood significantly lightened by the familiar surroundings and the presence of his old friend.
Reese and Dwight exchanged a glance, both aware of the dynamics at play. Reese shrugged slightly, deciding to let it go for now. There were more important things to focus on, and the beautiful scenery of Bantayan Island was a welcome distraction.
As they made their way through the port and into the parking lot, Alex led them to his car. "We'll be staying at my parents' private resort," he announced with a proud smile.
Dwight raised an eyebrow. "We already booked a hotel."
Alex cut him off, explaining, "I called Mr. Ramirez and asked him that Jasper and Chloe should stay at our resort. It's much safer, and he agreed."
Dwight nodded in understanding. "Alright, sounds good."
The drive to the resort was short and scenic, with lush greenery and glimpses of the ocean along the way. When they arrived, they were greeted by five workers: one woman and four men. The woman, who appeared to be the caretaker, introduced herself warmly, while the four men helped the group with their belongings.
The resort itself was welcoming and homey, with well-maintained gardens and a path leading to a beautiful swimming pool. Beyond the pool, the pristine beach stretched out, the clear blue waters inviting and serene. The overall atmosphere was one of relaxation and comfort, making it an ideal getaway.
As they unloaded the car, Alex turned to the group. "By the way, I will be celebrating my 27th birthday here at the resort tomorrow."
"Happy early birthday, Alex!" Chloe exclaimed, giving him another hug.
Alex smiled. "Thanks, Chloe."
He then led Jasper and Chloe to a beautifully decorated mini house, perfect for their stay. "This is where you two will be staying," he said, gesturing towards the house.
Turning to two of the workers, Alex instructed, "Please lead Reese and Dwight to their cottage."
The workers nodded and guided Reese and Dwight to a charming cottage nearby. It was cozy and comfortable, with all the amenities they would need for a pleasant stay.
Alex turned back to the remaining workers. "Please put Jasper and Chloe's belongings inside the house."
With that, Alex led Jasper and Chloe towards the main house to meet his parents. "They've missed you both," he said, smiling warmly.
Reese and Dwight watched them go, then settled into their cottage. Reese couldn't help but think about the dynamics at play, but for now, he was focused on ensuring everyone was safe and ready for whatever lay ahead.
