Chapter 89: Buying Medicine
Once outside, Reese glanced at the faucet and chuckled, thinking, 'I wonder how much the water bill will be once the pond is filled.' However, he wasn't worried about the bill. Now that he had more money and a lot of treasures, he could easily afford whatever the bill might be.
Now that he found out that the Amethyst orb could change the properties of the water, Reese felt very excited, knowing he had found a way to help his family and friends become powerful. The potential of the Amethyst Orb was immense, and he began to wonder what else he could achieve with it if he put foods, drinks, or medicines into its environment.
"Drinks would definitely change, but how about food and medicine?"
Smiling, Reese picked up his cellphone from the nightstand. With a clear plan in mind, he began to search for various types of medicines rich in essential vitamins. His first target was vitamin A. As he read through the benefits, he found that it was crucial for maintaining or improving good vision, strengthening the immune system, and promoting skin health. "This is great," he said to himself, pleased with his findings.
Next, Reese turned his attention to vitamin B. He quickly realized that vitamin B was a complex category with many subtypes, such as B1, B2, B3, and so forth. Each had its own unique benefits, ranging from energy production to nerve function. While it was a bit overwhelming, he noted the importance of these vitamins and moved on.
Searching for vitamin C, Reese found that its benefits were somewhat similar to those of vitamin A, focusing on immune support and overall health. Deciding to keep it in mind, he continued his search, this time looking up vitamin D. Upon discovering that vitamin D was rich in calcium and crucial for bone health, a smile spread across his face. "This is what I need—something that can make my family and friends stronger," he thought. If the Amethyst Orb could enhance these properties, it would significantly strengthen the bones of his family and friends. He contemplated the possible pain they might experience from consuming the potent medicines.
"No pain, no gain."
He also learned that vitamin D contributed to muscle strength. "Now, this is what I want," he said aloud. Motivated, Reese continued his research, looking up various vitamins and their benefits until he grew tired. Realizing he could simplify the process by buying medicines that contained these vitamins, he decided to head out and make the necessary purchases.
Putting his cellphone back in his pocket, Reese checked his wallet and noted he only had 10,000 pesos left. "I better withdraw some more, just in case," he thought.
Before leaving, Reese remembered the shovel he had borrowed. He quickly entered the Amethyst Orb, retrieved the shovel, came back, and exited his rented house. He made his way to his landlady’s house first, returning the shovel with a heartfelt thank-you. And he set off towards 360 Pharmacy.
Upon arriving at the entrance of the pharmacy, Reese paused for a moment and glanced inside. He noticed that there were only a few customers. Before approaching the cashier, he decided to stop by the ATM machine located inside the pharmacy.
He checked his balance to see how much money he had left. "50,000 pesos. I still have plenty. It would be quite excessive to spend it all just on the medicines I plan to buy," he thought. After withdrawing some money, Reese walked over to the cashier.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"Hi, sir, what can I do for you?" the cashier greeted him warmly.
Reese returned the greeting and then asked about the vitamins they had available and their prices. "Could you tell me what vitamins you have in stock and how much they cost?"
The cashier smiled and began listing the available options. "Of course. We have a variety of vitamins. For Vitamin A, we have capsules at 500 pesos for a bottle of 30. Vitamin B complex, which includes B1, B2, B3, and B6, is 750 pesos for a bottle of 60 tablets. Vitamin C tablets are 400 pesos for a bottle of 50. We also have Vitamin D capsules at 600 pesos for a bottle of 30. Additionally, we offer multivitamin packs that include a mix of essential vitamins and minerals for 1,200 pesos for a bottle of 60."
Reese listened attentively, considering each option. "Thank you for the information. I'll take five bottles of each of the medicines you mentioned."
The cashier was visibly shocked upon hearing Reese's request. She hesitated for a moment before clarifying, "Did you say you wanted five bottles of each? I just want to make sure I heard you correctly."
Reese nodded, reaffirming his order. "Yes, that's right. I need five bottles of each vitamin you mentioned."
The cashier blinked in surprise but quickly regained her composure. "Alright, let me gather those for you." She began collecting the bottles of vitamins from the shelves, double-checking the quantities to ensure she had the correct amount.
Reese watched as the cashier worked, noticing her initial surprise. He understood why she might be taken aback—ordering such a large quantity of medicines was not a common occurrence.
After a few minutes, the cashier returned with a large bag filled with vitamins. "Here you go, sir. That will be 17,250 pesos in total."
Reese was taken aback upon hearing the total price. He realized how quickly money could be spent when purchasing large quantities. Nevertheless, he paid the cashier and thanked her before leaving the pharmacy and heading back to his rented house.
Upon arriving at his rented house, Reese immediately entered the Amethyst Orb and went to the area where he stored the barrels.
As soon as Lakan saw Reese carrying a plastic bag, he asked, "What do you have there?"
Reese replied, "Medicines. I thought it would be beneficial to keep them in the Amethyst Orb. The Amethyst Aura might enhance if they stay here."
Understanding the reason, Lakan nodded and said, "That makes sense."
Reese meticulously emptied the contents of the plastic bag he had brought from the 360 Pharmacy into the barrels. He opened each bottle of vitamins, carefully removing the covers to ensure the Amethyst Orb could work its magic more efficiently. By exposing the medicines to the Orb’s environment, he knew their properties would be significantly enhanced, turning them into potent supplements that could greatly benefit his family and friends.
Satisfied with his work, Reese decided to check on the pond’s progress. He walked towards the pond, his footsteps echoing softly in the tranquil environment of the Amethyst Orb. As he approached, he could see the water level was still quite low. He let out a sigh, feeling a bit frustrated. "When will this ever be full?" he wondered.
After spending a few moments by the pond, contemplating the situation, Reese decided to leave the Orb and think about what else he could utilize within it. He went back to his rented house and started searching for ideas. He pondered over various possibilities but found himself stuck. Apart from food and drinks, he couldn’t think of anything else that might benefit from the Orb’s unique enhancement capabilities.
While searching, Reese's phone suddenly rang with an unknown number. He stood up from his bed and answered, "New phone, who’s this?"
From the other end, there was sudden laughter. It was Jasper. "Reese, do you always answer unknown numbers like that?"
Realizing it was Jasper, Reese laughed in embarrassment. "Uhm, yes, just in case it’s someone I know who I accidentally erased from my contacts. Anyway, is there a problem? Are you planning to go out?"
Reese thought to himself that Jasper was probably planning to go out drinking again tonight.
Jasper laughed on the other end of the line, thinking to himself how well Reese knew him, probably from watching over him in the background before he knew him. "Of course, be at my place tonight. I need your protection. Who knows, I might get kidnapped like Chloe," Jasper joked, laughing.
Reese shook his head with a knowing smile. "I figured you were planning a night out. Alright, I’ll be there tonight."
After ending the call with Jasper, Reese looked at the time on his phone. It was 11:15 a.m. on a Saturday. "There’s still plenty of time. I might as well get some sleep," he said, knowing they would be out all night.
