17 years had passed since the village episode. The kingdom of Grishwolds was in a period of peace and nothing much had happened in almost two decades. There were still a few disagreements between races. But nothing really to worry about.
All life in the kingdom flowed organically and without any setbacks.
Merchants sold their wares. Guards provided security at the gate. Adventurers went on dungeon quests in search of fame and money. And so on. Children played in the streets.
Everything was going well.
— Hi, could you give me some information?
Until an unfamiliar silhouette entered the Grishwolds Adventurers' Guild. He went to speak to the receptionist.
— Oh no... Him again...
— What are you doing here again? Scar?
It was an Orc wearing a leather breastplate, accompanied by a sword and a dagger at his hip. Despite his athletic build, he had a gentle, calm countenance. He didn't give off a bad vibe.
— I want to apply to join the adventurer's guild. The other time you told me that I could apply here at the age of 17.
The man behind the reception desk looks at Scar.
— Yes, yes, I did. But that's not quite how it works anymore. After the last time you came here, the kingdom issued a new rule.
— You will leave a piece of paper here, at the guild, with your name and address, and one of our men will conduct an interview with you, at the place you put on the paper.
The receptionist replies to Scar.
— What do you mean? It changed just as I was about to register, didn't it exist before?
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Outraged, Scar recruits.
— Things change fast, you know...
The man replies to Scar with a slight fake smile on his face.
— Okay, buddy, have a great day.
Scar leaves the store and heads into the forest to cool off.
...
..
.
— That idiot, he always puts up some problem to stop me signing up for the guild. I have to be able to sign up for the guild, it's the best way to get out of this miserable life.
He muttered to himself as he walked with his head down. Until...
— Aaahahahhhahha!
— What was that scream?!
Scar removed his sword from his hip and ran in the direction the sound had come from.
When he got there, he saw a girl lying on the ground, about to be attacked by a monster.
— Help!
It was a girl with brown hair and a long dress. She was being attacked by a wild wolf.
Shh...
BOOM!!!
Like an arrow, Scar lunges forward, hitting the wolf's head, which shatters into hundreds of pieces. Blood and brains splatter everywhere, hitting the girl and Scar.
"Damn, I would have cleaned that up yesterday."
While Scar was still recovering from his last blow, a new voice suddenly came from the bushes.
— Princess!
— By the goddess... What's that...
It was a young man in armor. When he saw the scene of a giant Orc next to the princess, lying on the ground with blood all around him. He thought the obvious.
— Disgusting creature, get away from the princess, or I'll... Kill you... Without mercy.
Trembling with fear, he pulled a sword from his hip and pointed it in Scar's direction.
They all stare at each other without saying a word.
— rsrs...
Scar laughs at the situation.
— Arthur is not what he seems! That Orc helped me. He killed that wolf that was about to eat me alive!
She points to the body of the dead wolf at the foot of the tree.
— If it hadn't been for him, I'd be dead now.
— Hmm...? Really?
Making a suspicious face, Arthur waits for his sword. While facing Scar.
— A, well, thank you very much for your help.
Arthur goes over to Scar and pats him on the shoulder in thanks. At the same moment, he turns and goes over to the young woman to see how she's doing.
— Are you hurt, Elizabeth?
— 'Are you hurt'? Is that what you mean?
Elizabeth gets up from the ground and walks over to Scar. Holding Scar's giant hand under her breast, she asks.
— Don't listen to that idiot. Thank you very much for helping me. If it weren't for you, that wolf would be devouring me right now.
— Is there anything I can do to help you? Anything at all?
Looking embarrassed at the girl. He thinks of something to ask. Until he remembers what had happened earlier at the adventurers' guild.
— You're a princess, aren't you?...
