Chapter 5 - Unwanted Scar

Chapter 5 - Unwanted Scar

Everyone in the place was perplexed. For a moment it seemed as if the whole world had stopped. It was too much of a stimulus to see familiar faces lying in that huge pool of blood.

— Sam!

A fiery cry came from the queen. She ran desperately in the midst of all those bodies to something that looked like a fallen child. To her misfortune, it was Sam... but she was no longer alive.

— AAAHAAHAAAAAHHAAAHHAHAHAHHA!!!

A deafening scream erupted from the queen. Kneeling with her beloved granddaughter on her lap, lifeless.

She then fainted.

— Darling!

— Men, see if there are any alive. Hurry!

King Ayres rushes to help his fallen wife. He picks her up and carries her to safety.

— Men, take care of her for now. Give her some water to drink after she wakes up.

Then the king himself begins to search for survivors among all those fallen bodies. But to his dismay he sees a distant body, covered in a grizzly bear cloak.

— No, no, no...

He mutters to himself as he slowly walks over to the body

— Please. For the goddess... Please, no...

When he got close enough, sobbing, he bent down beside the body, picked it up by the shoulder and turned it over.

It was Nork...

— AAHAAHHAAAHA!!! EVIL!!!

All the soldiers run towards the king. Seeing the reason for the shout, they all understood what had happened.

It was an ancient tradition in the kingdom of Grishwolds that all soldiers killed in battle should receive an honorary salute in their honor.

So both the king and the soldiers kneel down and say a prayer in honor of Prince Nork who died in battle.

— My son... This happened too soon... It would be right for you to bury me, not me...

In tears, the king still couldn't accept what had just happened.

Everyone was dead. Nork, Sam and the whole army. No one had survived.

A while later, while he was wiping the tears from his face, a soldier came up to him.

— King, the queen is awake! She's stunned.

He ran towards the queen to see what was going on. When he arrived, she couldn't believe her eyes.

The queen was rocking a piece of stone on her lap, while singing a bedtime song.

— Sleep Sam or the Goblins will get you.

— WHAT DOES THAT MEAN GYTHA? HAVE YOU GONE MAD? WHAT'S HAPPENING TO YOU?

The king grabs the piece of stone from his hands and throws it away.

— You've gone mad, woman. Sam is dead. Our granddaughter no longer exists.

Puh...

The queen jumps towards the king's throat. He quickly grabs her, immobilizing her.

— Give it back, give it back, give it back!!!

The queen was upset. She kept struggling as Ayres tried to calm her down while holding her.

— Calm down woman, calm down...

A while later, she finally stopped struggling and began to cry.

— Men, take care of her.

— Okay, boss.

King Ayres was also upset, he sat on a rock with his arms under his knees. Looking at the horizon, he began to think. His son and granddaughter had died and his wife was mad. All because of those damn monsters.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

"I can't leave it like this. Let me make it look like they've won".

— No, no. It won't stay that way...

He mutters to himself. He starts to think of something.

After a lot of thought, he went over to the soldiers, who were at that moment all upset about what had happened, and said.

— Men, we're going to attack these monsters. I will not let the death of my son and granddaughter go to waste.

— What do you mean, my king? What are we going to attack?

The soldiers turned towards the king to hear what he was saying.

— I know these lands, I've been here before with Nork. I know that there is a village near here inhabited by Goblins and Orcs. Surely the perpetrator of this slaughter must be there, enjoying himself right now. I can't let this happen.

— Really, my king? Then of course we will. I want to avenge the death of our companions as much as you do.

— MEN! HUZZUAH!!!

— HUZZUAH!!!

It was done. Everyone set off the next morning to carry out the plan. They were going to attack a small village near the cave. Ayres firmly believed that the perpetrator of that slaughter was there and he would pay for what he had done.

...

..

.

The day dawns. Everyone was very serious and focused on the objective. To attack the village and kill everyone in it. It was a fair price for taking the life of a Grishwold prince, they thought.

— I'll go too!

Once again, Queen Gytha interfered and said that she was also going to attack the village.

— Sam might be there! I won't know until I see for myself!

The king looks at her with a confused face.

— Sam what? Sam what?

— Whatever! Men, give her a horse.

The king was out of patience with the queen. After what had happened in the cave, she had gone mad. She was saying strange things that made no sense.

They get ready, pack everything they need and start walking towards the small village.

They arrived at the entrance to the village, and what would happen there would be marked forever in history.

— Men, what will happen here will be to avenge my son and our men. Attack with will and force. Wipe out everyone in this village, don't leave a single person here.

When the king arrives at the village, he is transformed. Enraged, he takes a wolf's fur, a bear's skin and an eagle's paw and speaks the strange verse that Nork had said earlier.

— For the weak, sinful, insignificant, mortal man that I am, I bow before you. By the power and grace of the Great Goddess, grant me the power to strike down the evil before me.

Ayres transforms. He increases in size to look like a bear and his eyes turn blue like those of a bird.

At high speed, with a long stride, he enters the village and cuts down two Goblins who were standing at the entrance. Then his men followed him, attacking everyone in sight without a second thought. It was all very brutal.

— No, please don't.

The monsters pleaded for mercy. But it was no use. Everyone there was merciless. And they did it all with a smile on their faces, thinking they were avenging the death of their friends.

Then they were wiped out one by one. The ground of the village was no longer the color of earth or grass, but a great scarlet red. A pool of blood bigger than the one in the cave.

— That's for my son, you monsters HUZZUAH!!!

— HUZZUAH!!!

The king and his men attacked continuously without stopping. The attack had been going on for about 20 minutes. They entered the houses and streets of the village and attacked anything that moved, even domestic animals.

Towards the end of the village, they found a house with some Orcs inside. They entered the house. Inside there were two Orc women, crouching near the wall. They seemed to be protecting something in a basket behind them.

— Please stop. He's very important.

Said one Orc woman. Crying on her knees.

— I don't care...

At that moment, he throws his sword at the two women. In the blink of an eye, the two women are torn in half as if they were nothing. Blood gushes everywhere.

After that, he went closer to see what was in the basket the women were protecting.

It was an Orc baby. A newborn baby. It was covered in clean sheets and was sleeping peacefully.

— My king, what will you do? He's just a baby.

A soldier asks the king. Doubtful of what the king would do with the little Orc.

— I'll do the same as you did to my little Sam...

At this, the king raises his sword towards the basket, and strikes a blow with all his might.

But...

Queen!

Shh...

The queen had gotten in the way of the blow. Her cheek and the baby's had been hit.

— You crazy woman! If I hadn't deflected the attack, you would have been broken by mine! You idiot!

— Quick, someone! Get a towel to wipe the blood off her face.

— What the hell are you thinking?

Gytha was clutching the baby tightly. She held the baby Orc in her arms, protecting him.

— He's my grandchild, I won't let you kill him, you madman!

— I'll take him to the kingdom with me, I'll raise him like I did Sam!

"The queen has really gone mad"

Everyone thought so. She was hallucinating that the little Orc was her grandchild, just like Sam. She had really gone mad.

The king aims his sword at the queen's head, and with a furious expression on his face.

— Drop that child to the ground, or I'll kill you and him together now.

— My king the queen...

— Quiet!

The king was enraged; he was determined to kill the queen and her baby if she didn't get rid of him. He didn't even pay attention to the guards' requests.

— You can do whatever you want to me, but I won't let this child go.

The queen said, looking the king in the eye while he still held the sword to his head.

Seconds passed as the two stared at each other. A hostile atmosphere filled the place. Everyone was tense about the situation.

Until Ayres broke the silence.

— You crazy woman. Do whatever you want with that devil creature.

— I don't care about you any more from now on.

Saying this, the king turns and stows his sword in the belt at his hip. He walks out of the village.

— Men, let's get back to the kingdom. We've done everything we need to

— I need to rest my head. Several things have happened today.
