Chapter 1: The Courier

Chapter 1: The Courier

The sun began to set upon the city of Voltros, a towering city of cloud-piercing neon sign-covered towers connecting to floating urban city blocks, flying neon-covered buses and bikes floated across neon streets. A delivery truck floated from the roadless neon road floated onto one of the many floating urban streets(which are made of a transparent material) before landing in front of an old-fashioned European cafe.

The delivery driver carried a metal box into the cafe and placed it on the counter where a young light-skinned woman(has short curly red hair with neon pink tips, neon eyes with glowing red iris', red cat ears, red cat tail and two zig-zaggy rings on each of her arms) wearing a maid outfit greeted them. She signed for the package before the delivery driver left and drove off. The cafe maid opened the box and became ecstatic at seeing its contents.

"Hey, Ion the rainbow icing, Met's order arrived," the maid said as she looked over at the tall tanned young adult male(has spikey black hair with three neon golden streaks, neon eyes with glowing golden iris, star-shaped right pupil and diamond-shaped left pupil and six neon golden rings on each of his arms; along with wearing a black fur coat with neon golden highlights, white t-shirt, white fur trousers with three neon golden rings on each of the ends of the trousers and black metal biker boots) lounging about on one of the cafe themed sofas and mindlessly staring up at the night sky inspired sealing.

"Hey are you even listening!?" the maid yelled as she tossed a glazed bagel at Ion. The bagel soared through the air before coming to a complete stop mid-air after Ion's diamond-shaped pupil flickered between golden colour and back to black.

"Yes, I get what you're going to ask, Catherine," Ion stated as he stood up and picked up the bagel while thanking the thin air. Ion strolled over to Catherine as a box of rainbow icing appeared to float out of the metal box on its own.

"Hey! What did I say about summoning your invisafriends in the cafe without their animal costumes that I painstakingly made for them?" Catherine asked angrily as she crossed her arms. Ion sighed as he grabbed the rainbow icing box.

"They're currently in the washing machine," Ion said as a golden ring appeared around the rainbow box before he let go of the box and it floated in place.

"Oh... well, I guess I'll let it slide this time but you better make it up to me when I turn twenty next month," Catherine stated as her tail started to sway from side to side. Ion sighed as he rubbed his eyes.

"Are you still dead set on dating me?" Ion rhetorically asked, knowing it was the case.

"Of course, I'm not like that-" Catherine said before being interrupted by Ion loudly clearing his throat.

"Right... well you best be on your way otherwise Met's bakery is going to be close before you get there," Catherine cheekily remarked. Ion smugly scoffed as he turned and marched to the cafe entrance, with the rainbow icing box floating behind him.

"I highly doubt that," Ion retorted before he and the icing box left the cafe. Ion stretched his arms as four big, thin golden neon rings appeared behind him before he grabbed the icing box and blasted off into the sky.

Ion soared through the air and manoeuvred around the multitude of flying vehicles. Ion yawned and gazed down at the imprevisible cloud-covered ground of the planet.

"You wonder what the surface looks like?" Ion asked as he stared at his shoulder.

"Well you best give up on wondering since the air's too poisonous for organic lifeforms," Ion added before he dive-bombed towards a floating urban city block. Ion flew over the street and as he turned a corner he spotted a bike pile up and a knocked-over bus.

As he flew closer, Ion noticed that the crash site had a multitude of heavily armoured robot police around the area which made Ion groan. Ion slowed down as one of the robot police signalled Ion down. Ion landed next to the robot police before Ion clicked his neck.

"Due to something running in front of traffic there has been a pile-up, it is recommended that you continue your journey another way or continue on foot," the robot police explained with a robot voice.

"Yeah I hear you," Ion murmured as he walked around the robot police and crossed the zebra crossing. Ion continued to walk down the sidewalk and was slightly surprised at how far the vehicle pile-up lasted.

"You think it's odd how the robot said something and not a bus or something? Yeah, it was a little odd they didn't specify but it could be they just don't know," Ion muttered as the pile-up seemed to end and after walking another block he took off and continued to fly.

Ion flew for a few more minutes before he landed in front of Met's bakery which appeared to be closed.

"Odd, they're closed earlier than usual," Ion commented as he noticed a holographic note attached to the front door: which read, sorry Ion had to close earlier today you can just do that phasing thing and leave the icing- p.s I left a piece of cherry cake as an apology. Ion sighed as his diamond pupil flickered before he phase walked through the door through the bakery entrance.
