chapter 53c: reveal
“your reply failed to meet our request. So we asked Idra to deliver punishment as stated. The blood of 46’562’901 people was an easily avoidable tragedy. But who are we to discuss the decision of others prime minister?” ended Nixie returning to sit.
Her cold manners added to the data provided left the room speechless and silent until Lorcas spoke. He of course was not happy at all.
“we have never replied. That was by no mean an official reply and you acted on it”
“You are missing the ending line. Quote: The reply will be self acquired and will correspond to the first reply be it written or spoken. We told you.”
She is good. Well they are good. They have prepared a lot and from the start. They know what could have happened.
“That’s ridiculous. How could you take something said privately and used it as official reply? You were just looking for and excuse to kill us”
“we didn’t take your words as definitive. So we connected to your computer and took the reply. You still denied our access to the 1000 potential criminals and wrote down a bunch of political nonsense. So we acted”
“that’s false. You can’t had enough time to communicate the response.”
Nixie sighed.
“eehhh Lorcas, Lorcars, didn’t you not watched the video? You can clearly see that we interrupted Idra’s hunt. A hunt on a totally different planet. Yet we communicate in real time. So it means that we could have access to our collected evidence before the one sent by you arrived. Time is important and wasting Idra’s time is a pity”
Lorcas didn’t really know how to reply but the rest of the room was even more shocked. None of them thought that a technology that allowed for communication faster than light could exist. They all thought that the video was built to give off a certain impression, never that it was not edited.
“If I may know Nixie 112. To your knowledge how far was Idra when the request for aid reached her?” asked Csuicha.
“I can answer to that. We don’t know. Weeping Sky location is secret even among us. All Idras came from it. All Idras returned there either alive or dead. No Idra ever said were it was nor hinted at it. All we know is that it exist and that it belongs only to the Idras”
“so… if you could make an estimation? Like in light years away?”
“more than 20 I think.”
Gasp of shock echoed in the room. 20 light years with minimal delay that you can’t even perceive was just impossible. The fastest intel ship moved at 2 light years per day but needed to be refuel mid flight. In the end the best that was ever reached was 1.46 light years per day. It was just so insane to be confused with a fever dream.
How the fuck….!??! is that even possible? It can’t be real right? Or can it? Is that why they sent one of their intel ship to meet Idra on Icar-3? Is the black box the key to it? That would also explain why Alba Corvi was used as speaker. She was new, a nobody, yet she delivered the request of a civilization. She must have been linked to the box and so to Idra. I could ask Scilla to steal it, but I guess it would be useless and only damage our connection to Idra. Fuck I want those boxes.
The conversation between Nixie and Lorcas dragged on. Some external intervention didn’t help, in fact they had the opposite effect. Nixie was a beast covered with a thin veil of friendliness. Each time she replied her position grew stronger. Almost each time someone opened their mouth they would end up regretting it. It didn’t help that Nixie had on her side the power of knowledge. She knew a lot of secrets that could destroy lives. When someone tried to go against her, a fast and devious hint was placed in the reply. Soon it was back to only Nixie and Lorcas still fighting over the massacre.
“Your people were trespassing on our planet. How could it be our fault if we shoot at them?” said Lorcas.
Nixie stood up again. This time she stretched, getting ready for a fierce battle.
“first Pridians follows the shared rules. Under those rules you have the right to defend your borders but under the same obligation you can’t deliberately shoot at whatever you see”
“how could we know that your operators didn’t shoot first?”
Nixie was confused for a second. Lorcas was scratching the end of the barrel.
“do you really want to go down that road? You know that our units are all equipped with recording systems? Do you want to see how Pridians mercenaries shoot first from 11 different angles?”
Lorcas stayed silent.
“that’s what I thought. Additionally you have no use of the ruins.”
“they are ours, on our planet”
“how do they belong to you? How many scavenger party did you made? I’ll answer for you. 198. how many came back? I’ll tell you, none. You sent all those people to die. How could the ruins be yours if you can’t even open their doors without being killed?”
“that doesn’t matter. Even unused land still belongs to us as it’s inside our space”
“Even field could be sold. People used to sold their girls to pay off debts. You own us all your civilization. It’s time to pay us back, your ruins belong to us”
Nixie claims were absurd yet intriguing.
Finally after hours something is moving. But I don’t think the Esterians were ever involved with the Pridians. So what is this debt?
“we own you nothing. You only appeared to disturb our civilization and then kill our people...”
“You are wrong. You own us, you own the Domers.”
Domers? Is she speaking of the Founder’s followers on Terra before Humans’ space age?
Domers were the humans living on the Mediterranean sea. Once the Founder took power over Terra, he called to himself all the brightest minds. To protect them he built the Dome. A network of weapons, satellites and machines that protected those super intelligent sea dwellers from the rest of humanity. It was only thanks to the Domers that Humans avoided extinction and reached the space age. However even if facts spoke for themselves the Humans left behind by the Founder always denied it.
“We have nothing to own to the Domers and the Founder tyranny. Nor do the Pridians!” Intruded loudly the human representative Jenny Russell. She was enraged.
Letting your feelings have the best of you. That’s a stupid move.
“that’s were you are wrong. You own us Domers all you have. What you call tyranny saved the humanity that you destroyed. We ended wars, we stopped food shortage, we cleaned the planet. We gave Terra a fresh start. We taught you science. We gave you medicine. We ended your conflicts…”
“by exterminating us! All those who didn’t agree were killed!”
“Girl, hold your horses. They were lost far before they were put out of their misery. You let them go too deep, they got to the bottom of the barrel and it broke. Always wanting more and more against any logic, against all science. Against Humans. The only thing we could do was ending their pain.”
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“How can you speak of millions like they were nothing!” replied Jenny.
“because they had no value. They were vermin killing our species from inside. Our only regret is the loss of precious minds on african soil. It’s ironic how the paladins of social justice decided to amass their troops in a suboptimal position. Instead of choosing the Eurasian continent and push by land from the east, you placed on the south with a sea between us. We all know how hard it is to attack by sea. You feared the Founder counter attack so you chose accordingly. You chose to expose those you deemed less valuable to our attack instead of the best option. In the end you never cared for the innocents. You cared only for yourselves. All good words but never act, never think. We saved you from your own stupidity.”
Jenny was silent. Nixies reply was brutally honest but more importantly logical. Those hearing it would understand easily that Nixie told the truth. Even without knowing anything about Humans people could easily understand that choices were made. Some people were less valuable during those decisions.
“you can’t put what happened 400 years ago on us. We weren’t even there.” said Lorcas.
“and you wouldn’t be here if not for us. We left you the technology to build more spaceships. To explore the stars for free. A technology that without us was never going to develop as you would have nuked yourselves first. So the ruins belong to us because you wouldn’t have them without us”
Jenny that was visibly agitated just exploded. She for sure was not ready to face Nixie nor any competent diplomatic. Yet Terran insisted to hire people more for representation of ideals rather that competence.
“what the fuck! We made ourselves! Your people did nothing for Humanity ever in their existence apart from killing us. Now you want to put the blame of your massacres on us. You are nothing but space tyrants that wants to extend their tentacles. What Lorcas said about your criminal proposal to abduct 1000 people is fucking true. You and your cheap copy of branded clothes could go fuck yourself!…”
Oh no!
Jenny was not over but she was interrupted. Nixie punched the conference room table destroying it. Her voice was filled with anger and so much venom to kill a bull.
“I would have let it slide like I let slide all the whispered remarks about our appearance. But I won’t let you disrespect our dead. Those cheap clothes are funeral clothes. Our people are mourning those we lost, those who gave all during the Spike War. One, just one more word and it will be war. It will not be a painless extermination. No fever before going to bed and never waking up. It would be like the 156 years of agony that we suffered…”
Nixie voice was gradually mutating. From anger to seriousness. It was a predicted event and the Esterians had big plans for it.
“All we wanted was peace to study the universe. Peace to learn, peace to build, peace to explore, peace to be happy even after being banished from our planet. It was hard, but we tried our best and we succeed. We were finally happy. But soon enemies approached. Aliens, close to our borders. We came in peace. They didn’t. They hated us for being Human. For not believing in their god. They wanted to exterminate us and as a reflection all humanity if we didn’t stop them. So it was war. They outnumbered us. Each one of us had to take 100’000 with them. Out technological superiority was met with a flood of people and blood. They couldn’t survive a single hit, but there were just so many that we couldn’t produce enough bullets. In those 156 years of constant battle we lost everything. Millions departed but only hundred returned. Our population was collapsing, our factory left empty. Children left their studies. Some younglings joined and marched to the front to never return. There was no peace, no second of calm. We pushed ourselves to the limit and used everything we could. Nuclear weapons, biological weapons, chemical gases. But they kept coming in an endless wave of destruction. Yet we stick together and as one we came out victorious. But at what price. After 156 years of war nothing was left. Nothing of our civilization nor of our people. No more farms, no more communication between planets, no more factories, no more schools. Nothing was left of us. Death was not nocking at our door, it was inside the house chasing those few left alive. It was over, or so we thought…”
Nixie voice changed again. It was sad. Sad for all that her people had lost.
“hope came to us. A scout spacecraft lost a century before returned to us. The people inside had changed. Fathers and mothers built their legacy and passed on their duties. Generation after generation they avoided the war. They carried something vital for us. A series of samples of another species. Extinct long before we came into play. With what they found a new way appeared, but it required one last sacrifice. Once it meant all to us. But now it was time to go on our way. With that sacrifice we were no more…”
Slowly Nixie and her crew moved both hands to their neck. Their goo retracted inside the armour cells and the helmets clicked. Their hand grabbed the helmets and slowly pushed them up. First they saw their necks. Unheard greenish skin struck their eyes. Then their hair. 2 man had a mix of brown and green hair. One had light green hair like a fresh leaf. Nixie had long aqua green hair. In the end they saw their long ears and their faces with wide staring eyes. 2 with dark brown eyes, one with green eyes and Nixie with a pink eyes. They were all extremely good looking and my far no more Human.
Gasp of shock and all the cameras on them. They were no more faceless.
What the fucking fuck is this! They were not Humans all this time.
“I present myself again. I’m Nixie 112 from the Esterian tech-union. We come to you as one and we will treat you as one. We don’t seek war but we ain’t scared of it. Try us and you will never be remembered. Now judging by your wide open mounts we decided to leave you some time to think and process what you saw. I would also suggest to use some minutes of the following 2 hours to provide biomass to your bodies. Our conversation will resume afterwards”
Nixie’s voice was different. More acute but what changed the most was her pronunciation. She had a similar accent to Idra. It was obvious that they, like all Esterian, spoke little to no unified language. The 4 creature were outstandingly beautiful. They were mostly perfectly symmetrical with smooth soft skin. Their faces didn’t suggest aggressiveness but their looks were filled with resolve. Nixie stood out the most as she was the only girl with long hair. Her colour was also particular. Aqua green and bright pink eyes surely aren’t common to see around. Csuicha was captured by her beauty but more over she was amazed by Nixie’s brutality and capabilities. She was in fact the first to spoke breaking the silence. She wanted to observe Nixie more during the prepared buffet for the diplomatic guests.
“you don’t have to leave the building to eat, we have…”
“We decline your offer. We will provide for ourselves at a nearby shop that looks interesting. I would suggest you do as well. Food taste better without the stench of a paedophile. We will resume our conversation in 118 minutes. Farewell”
with those words Nixie and her crew left the room and eventually the building. She and the 3 assistants she had didn’t put back on their helmets. Outside the crowd had expanded significantly. They all wanted to look at the Esterians. All possible newspapers sent their journalist even if they had nothing to do with politics or biology. They were of course stopped by guards and barriers placed to keep people away but also keep them safe from the landing zones. While walking back to their ships, Nixie and her crew took a detour to stop in front of a femari journalist that like all was screaming some questions. Once they were before her the journalist froze. Nixie stared at her for few seconds before smiling widely. Her fangs shined under the sun. Then she moved her hand to grab the Lean face while keeping smiling. She moved it around as if she was examining the journalist.
“Capisco perchè possano piacere, ma sti qua stanno a pensà più cor cazzo che cor cervello ([some words are dialect], I can understand why they might be liked, but those one think more with their dicks rather than their brains)” said Nixie smiling as if she expressed a compliment. The man beside her smiled as well and nodded.
Nixie, unhappy, rose on her tiptoe and took off the journalist hair tie. She then collected her hair into a ponytail so her ears were even more exposed.
“you look better without the tie. Let your hair flow around girl. Bye!”
They walked away to their ships. From one of the 3 a new squad of soldiers came out and the first 4 guards returned to their spacecraft. With the new guards, the 24 walkers and a series of journalist along side their cameras at a respectfully distance, they headed to the designed shop. The place they decided to eat at was a small vendor of almost traditional street food. The place had few tables inside and 4 small tables outside on the wide side walk. The place didn’t saw many people as it had recently opened and had a hard time picking up regular clients. But it was Vera’s dream so she kept trying. At the time it was empty. The owner was looking at one of the many live channels that was following the Esterians. She was curious of where they were going. She saw streets that looked like the one around her place, then she saw her street. Than a place that looked exactly like hers. She didn’t have time to realise that it was indeed her place that Nixie spoke from behind the counter.
“excuse me miss. Would you happen to mind if we eat at your establishment?”
The woman was out of words. She was speaking to the Esterian ambassador in flesh.
“of… of course not… you are more than welcome miss ambassador and her crew?”
“relax we don’t bite, unless you taste good” replied Nixie jokingly while smiling and showing her fangs. Vera gulped and was starting to feel uneasy until Nixie hit her lightly on the side.
“it was a joke. Just call me Nixie. So… guys what do you get?”
They all stared at the menu and after some intense pondering they bought 4 different things. All meat based with some vegetables as side.
“we will sit outside”
“S...Sure. I’ll bring the food when it it ready”
The Esterians pulled together 2 tables to have more space and sit. They spoke exclusively in Estir among themselves but it didn’t look like work talk at all. About 10 minutes later Vera brought out the food and as strangely as it could seem they thanked her upon being served. It was as if they had flipped a switch and now they were behaving politely. Their lunch was slow and calm. They spoke and joked all the time. Csuicha was also observing one of the lives and her keen eyes didn’t let her down. She saw a peculiar behaviour. The males traded their food among themselves to taste and discovered different recipes, but it was not the case with Nixie. Nixie only received food upon asking and also when not. When they had finished with their food, the Esterinans stood up. Without waiting for Vera they brought back their plates, disposed of the trash they made and put back the tables. For the discomfort Nixie also paid 1000 UC, that for Vera were a massive amount as their food was only 32 UC. Nixie however insisted that it was also a compensation for stopping her business from having other clients that never existed. Vera thanked them profoundly also bowing but all she received back were confused looks.
