[ Ding ]
My watch and phone vibrated and started making noises, it was 6am by my quick glance at the time, only an hour before I normally would of woken up anyways.
My watch was a smart watch so having it go off the same time as my paired phone I just twisted the bevel to check the message.
[ New event : demon invasion ... ]
I rubbed my eyes and reread the small screen. It didn't make sense to me, I never schedule events into my phone to wake me up or notify me of things. I rolled over in bed and reached for my smart phone to read and clear the message.
[ New event : demon invasion
All life forms on earth have been notified that their world will be invaded by demons. Due to this world not having any way to fight back all life forms will be upgraded. This upgrade is involuntary and has started from the time you have received this message. ]
It didn't seam real but as I finished reading the message my phone restarted. My space background was removed and all my apps were gone. My phone now had four pages in the swipe notification bar so I checked them out.
Page 1 - phone, messages
Page 2 - stats
Page 3 - inventory
Page 4 - map
The top bar on my phone changed, it no longer read my service provider instead it had the letters EXP and a grey bar that extended to the centre where the time was followed by a red bar then the letters HP.
I laid there looking at the changes to my phone when I felt a buzz on my watch from its start up process. My watch face had changed as well, across the top was 3 words STAT, INV, DATA.
The time was still there but beside the time was a picture of a person that had bars around it. It was dressed like me in only boxers.
On the bottom of the screen I read the changes to, I hadn't charged my watch in a few days but it had a HP that read 100%.
I tried to turn the bevel to change the screen but it no longer worked. So I tried tapping on various parts of the watch. When I tapped the body it changed to show stats like a character sheet. All stats were currently 10 but had a plus sign beside each one. I scrolled through and saw at the bottom that there was a line that was higher at 20 that said remaining.
I left that screen by hitting the back button and continued to press around the screen. In the INV section it contained only one item. Old boxers. Sure they were old but they were comfy. And the data screen was empty.

I picked my phone back up and rolled out of bed and went to the washroom. Changing to the stats page on it I noticed that there was a skill button that was under a character sheet like page. When I clicked on it, it came up with another page with 2 bars one side that was blank the other with a list of basic skills that I recognized from video games that had a number beside each of them.
Scrolling through the list I tapped on a few lower numbered skills and read their descriptions. I started scrolling through the list when I noticed the number beside had started to rise drastically. Skills went from costing 1 point each to at the very bottom costing 1M points. I turned off my phone and walked to the next room where my computer was while getting dressed. I opened up my chat program to find my closest friends online. The 6 of us have been playing games together since we first gained freedom on the net to do what we like.
< Hey, I think we need to talk... >
< Don't think too much and just do it... your phone is acting up too? >
< Yeah, what did you do? >
Tyler... my closest friend I really didn't need to ask him, he would become a mage in real life if he could with the power to control fire.
< It's real... I can make a fire ball now... but I can't really control it so I was about to go out and play with it...>
< wait... how many points did you spend... >
< 10... the 5 point skills didnt suit me >
< Dude... 10 points on one skill? >
< Frost bolt cost 10 points... Would of gone with Blizzard but that was 100... >
< How many times can you use it? >
< right now I can make one that is about the size of a baseball and keep it sustained for 10 min... after that it takes me about 30 before I can use it again... >
< Dude, I think I got it worse then you >
Dan, is not all that bright... he would be the one to select a skill that was going to kill him before anything else got a chance to.
< Dan, what did you do...>
< Two skills for 5 points each... tough body and flight >
< Did you crash? >
< Yup... 10 min in the air and then I fell, cant control the direction either it just goes by the direction I push off in... >
< so Its more like a jump skill? >
< Kinda, I can leap over the house >
While looking at Tyler's and Dan's conversation I started to look at the 1 point skills looking over what skills I wanted, the three that caught my eyes most was all worth 1 point, mana stamina and health regeneration. I selected them each in turn and read the descriptions. Each did exactly what I thought they would be doing so I selected them all and bought them.
I tested out the health one by cutting my finger and watching it for a while. The cut slowly closed and I whipped off the remaining blood and there was no remaining scar or damage from the cut. I rubbed the edges of a few of my other scars and watched them fade away like they were never there.
"Cool."
I checked out the remaining of my scars and saw that they were all gone. I stretched and felt all my pains from injuries slowly fade away. I felt like a new man.
I left my computer where my friends were discussing their skills and headed outside. A light jog around my pond and I wasn't tired. From what I saw while running many other people were playing with skills of their own. I had 7 points left so I opened my phone and scanned the list.
5 points to erase my presence. Leaving me with two skill points left to play with. I decided to select a weapon skill. Basic weapon mastery, it effected every weapon supposedly giving me base knowledge of every weapon available. All of my skills were passive skills so while everyone around me looked like super humans I still felt very human.
