Slowly I followed my sparing partner, our dance had started the night before and lasted until neither of us could move.
This style of dancing was better then the martial arts classes that my parents forced me to take growing up.
I hummed to myself as I got back to the camp site.
It looked nothing like it had the night before when we left. A wall that was the height of a goblin had surrounded the whole complex cutting into the lake behind it and leaving space to grow.
I whistled as I stood before what could only be called a solid wood gate. It stood twelve feet high and was emitting some kind of power.
I placed my hand against it feeling the power surge through me.
It felt dangerous like a loaded gun.
Chase walked past me with the same look of awe and wonder that I had.
It was time for real sleep tho, I had been awake for far too long and the short rest after the sparing match just wasn't enough.
People looked at me like I was a monster. They cleared the pathway before me and scurried away while glancing back to see if I was going to come after them.
It hurt my feelings.
I looked down at my ripped clothing that was almost indecent, I didn't look like I was scary. In fact I think given the fact that I just napped in the dirt for two hours I looked pretty good.
I traced my steps towards where Chase had set up my tent. I knew I could find a friendly face there with Dee and Abigale at least.
I opened the tent to Dee's tent to check on Tyler and instantly regretted it.
Tyler's was was facing the entrance as he laid between Dee's legs.
" Oh my God! Put up a sock or something!" I screamed as I turned around. I could feel my cheeks flush as I started to move away from the two laughing inside of the tent.
I closed my eyes tightly, I wanted to forget what I just had seen.
"Enjoy the show?" Tyler's husky voice whispered into my ear and I shivered.
I could never tell what Dee saw in him. She helped people get into shape for a living while his shape was round.
"Eww No! Gross!" I stomped away from him. Why did I even worry about him.
"Relax hun, it is a natural event that everyone does from time to time." Dee had been my friend for years but even so I didn't want to see her like that.
"Of course I know that it happens I just didn't want to see his ass before I went to bed!" I screamed while pointing at Tyler. "Now I am scared for life!"
Tyler's belly jiggled as he laughed. He stood there in nothing but shorts exposing his shape to the world.
"Hun you are a mess," Dee finally came out of the tent and instantly went and grabbed my shoulders. "What the he'll happened last night?"
I just smiled as she picked twigs out of my hair and brushed dirt from my face.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"I won." She shook her head and smiled at me.
Tyler started cooking breakfast. It was the one good skill he had. I stood still while Dee wiped me down with a cloth. The bacon cooking on the open fire almost made me forget about seeing his ass.
Breakfast was only bacon eggs and toast but it was still a hundred times better then what I could do.
Sometimes I wondered if my dad was disappointed in the fact that he didn't have a son. I never learned how to bake or cook but I practiced martial arts and could rip apart an engine and put it back together with only one or two extra screws that I had no idea where they came from.
I used the system to change my clothing and saw my level. I couldn't believe it.
Level eight!
I smiled and held out my phone towards Tyler.
"I went up three levels when you arrived!" I was grinning wide, hunting goblins was great experience.
"Huh." Tyler pulled out his phone and looked at it strangely.
"What's wrong sweety?" Dee leaned over his back looking down at the phone in his hand.
"I sware I was level ten yesterday but now it is reading back to level one." I got up to look at his phone. All of his stats were at ten while his mana pool was huge compared to my own.
"How the hell do you have a mana pool of ten thousand?" I couldn't believe what I was reading.
I know he said he was going full mage but this was beyond what I could of imagined.
"That much I have no clue about," He picked up another slice of bacon and started munching on it. "It was hardly over one thousand last time I checked."
We stood there in almost silence while we chewed bacon and pondered over why Tyler's level had dropped.
"Any left?" Chase finally made it over to our side of the camp bringing Abigale with him.
He looked more worn out now then after our match.
Dee fixed up two plates while Tyler explained his lost levels.
He was now the lowest level among us.
Our level ranking went from me being the highest to Chase at two levels below me followed by Abigale at level three and Dee at level two.
We knew Tyler had killed more goblin's than us but we couldn't figure out his level issue.
"We have another issue too that I wish Kevin was here for." Chase held out his phone to the group. "Apparently I am the leader of this village and I have to name it."
I thought on it. He was right, Kevin was always the better one at naming things. Not only did he make all of our weapons in game on his alternate character but he also got the rights from the game company to name them all.
I brushed the hilt of the sword I carried, this hero sword was nothing compared to my Valkyrie's Honor.
I wanted my full Valkyrie set in real life, it would of been a sight to behold on the battle field, the true silver white polished full plate set that allowed me to dash forward with break neck speeds. The set grew stronger the more I got damaged increasing my strength and forcing my foes to cower at my feet.
Everyone was looking at me.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Abigale poked my side like she had been trying to get a hold of me for a while.
"I want my sword." I finally whispered.
Tyler and Dee both had staffs made by Kevin. Abigale had her bow. Kevin had just finished making a full metal shield for Chase. But my sword wasn't allowed to cross the border from Kevin's place. The border agents deamed that it was a deadly weapon even with out a tang so I couldn't bring it home.
"I guarantee that he will bring it with him." Abigale wrapped her arm around me and shoved a piece of bacon in my mouth.
"But you know that is not what we are talking about here right?" Chase moved bacon from his plate to Abigale's to replace the one now in my mouth.
"What are we talking about?" I looked at each of them in turn. They just all smiled at me.
"Village name." Abigale was the one who finally clued me in.
"Why does it matter?" I stole more bacon from Abigale's plate. "Once Kevin gets here we will probably take off on an epic adventure anyways."
It had seemed that was the concensses of the group.
Dee's family had gone south with a large group of people they met on the road. I think she said that they were going to Florida where it would be warmer.
Mom had passed away twelve years ago and dad refused to leave her so I only had the group of friends before me.
Abigale lost her family to goblins.
And Chase was an orphan who had been living alone for the longest time.
I was doodling in the dirt while thinking.
"Hope?" Chase was looking down at my doodle.
I guess it kinda looked like the word Hope. Well if I squinted and tilted my head just right.
"There we have a name."
I yawned it was way past my sleep time. I leaned my head on Abigale's shoulder and half listened to everyone talking.
Sleep overtook me.
