Things changed when the meteors hit. But not right away. Even though the meteors hit quite a bit of America, things didn’t really start happening until a day later. Of course there was a ton of panic on the streets, with everyone going wild. But it was a natural disaster, okay well not really natural for earth. But it wasn’t out of the range of possibilities of horrible things to happen. No, the real disaster wasn’t the meteors themselves, but what they had in them. The meteors themselves were just rocks from space, but what they brought was the truly terrifying thing. The thing that brought down civilization. That made America collapse. That eventually made the entire world turn into a barely habitable planet, that made every single day.
A Living Hell.
First came the news of a meteor show that was going to display over the Atlantic ocean. Only a meteor shower, nothing more. They report that if you live on the east coast, you could maybe see it with the naked eye. But had a better chance if you used a telescope. The thing the government wasn’t telling us was it wasn’t due to pass us, it was due for a collision course for Kansas. And yes, as usual they had some sort of plan to destroy this disaster that was hurtling full speed ahead towards us. Can you guess? Ding ding ding, nukes. Atomic weapons that create a huge explosions and produce extreme amount of heat. The issue here isn’t the possible radiation for America’s population, no. Where they were detonating the bomb the radiation had no chance to reach us. No, the issue here was how the nuke was going to affect the meteors, more precisely, the thing inside the meteors. And this thing that was inside the meteors was a parasitic germ. This germ, that could only survive with heat, was about to infect any animal it could touch and we just helped it grow.
Stolen novel; please report.
We’re not sure quite yet on why it only latches on animals, and this includes humans because we are still technical considered an animal. It begins to mutate the cells of the organism it’s living in. But, we are certain that it can only survive with heat and it’s only purpose seems to be reproducing or replicating if you like that term better. The germ itself stays the same, the only thing to mutate and adapt is the cells it has invaded. It takes two full days to mutate into it’s full capacity, turning you into a monster. Boils all over your body, incredible strength, and a need to bite living animals. The easiest way for the germ to spread is through body fluids, preferably saliva. Probably were the need to bite comes from, it’s own primitive instinct to reproduce.
If you are bitten, it takes a few seconds for the germ to invade the nearby cells in your bloodstream and then starts to travel to your heart, to be pumped throughout your body. The first symptom will be bleeding from your eyes and nose. This blood will ooze out for a few minutes and as it oozes out it will start to turn black within a few seconds, for there is not enough heat outside the body for it to survive.
The next symptom will be will be a blotchy rash around the body and following with the formation of blisters. Until everything turns into boils, and all this will begin a few hours after the blood symptom. Also the boils will ooze clear liquid, which can easily infect you if you don’t watch out. If you are bitten, and it successfully enters your body (if you get any infected body fluids on your skin there’s about a 50/50 chance you’ll survive, just depends on how healthy and how protective your skin is. It must come into contact with blood for successful infection.), there’s a chance you might survive. It isn’t pretty and it will hurt. But depending on where you are bitten, if you are able to chop of that limb before it reaches your heart. You’ll have a high chance of not dying, that is if you don’t bleed out.
So by all means wear lots of protective layers, stay away from the monsters, and Don’t Get Bitten.
