I next awake to a very different feeling. Looking around not much seemed all that different. The lush grass and the tree boundary were not different. Maybe having a small amount of different patterns than the last time I could see it but just as grass and tree like.
The small grass-ish covered beings were all just as I last saw them. All in different areas sure but all the same life. The leaf things still traveled around off the ground and all of it was still happening around the trees
The slight wind around me was a little stronger than when I was last awake but not by much. Light was coming off the sun just like always but the vast blue of the sky was nearly fully concealed with the amount of clouds. The sky made it seem like it would rain later on. With the basics looked over I turned my view to see behind me.
I was extremely disturbed when I turned around to find myself blocking my view. In front of me was a my tree with its unique smooth bark and exposed root tops. Startled by this I looked around and noticed my covering was not around me at all. It did not take long for me to look down to see what happened. Looking down led to me seeing two odd trunks with a heavy bend at the ends and a curve in the middle connected to a thicker trunk farther up. Connected to this was an odd third branch covered in thin leaves that seemed to be stiffly pointing upward. Higher than that was two more branches on opposite sides of the thick trunk. These seemed to have a slight bend in the middle as well as another heavy bend near the end. Actually, everything was curved in odd ways for seemingly no reason but it did not matter. What was the most worrying was that I was not rooted to the ground.
Taking some time to look this over I found that I could not shift my perspective from the branch that was growing from the top of the main trunk. It was slightly annoying but better than nothing. The next thing I did as it seems prudent to know what would happen was that I activated Territory.
My sight actually did not change at all but I still had the ‘mana perception’ that I had before. It seemed whatever time it took to make this body let me grow some. Thinking of this I decided to look over what had actually changed in the system.
Name Yuxil Age 134 Years Mana 2/825 Mana Regeneration 0.3 per hour Health 100/100 Health Regeneration 10 per hour Stamina 120/120 Stamina Regeneration Variable (Current 2 per minute
It would seem that in the creation of this body I had spent a considerable amount of time trying to regenerate what I needed. My skill in mental capacity also went up to 11. That must be why I now had more mana. I also had stamina now, I would guess because of having a moving body. Before I did not even look at the skill further than the skill screen before. Bringing up the screens again I looked into both the skills now.
Body Creation (You can make yourself a body to for movement and actions not available otherwise. The body created will hold most of your mental focus and be connected magical to you. The body can do most skills you can do, but some abilities and skills may not transcribe. (Cost, 10,000 Mana)
Territory An area around you is yours (Current, 3 centimeter). You can sense all that is within range. This is mainly used to protect yourself while you have a created body as this skill only works for your main body (Cost, N/a, mental focus)
This explains why it took as long as it did, 10,000 did seem to be somewhat large. I did not have any other skills to look through so I looked at the attributes as the others seemed self explanatory.
Constitution Each point in this gives increased health and strength. Adds 20 health per point (Current 5) Reflexes Each point in this gives increased speed of attack and flexibility. Adds 10 stamina per point (Current 12) Wisdom Each point in this gives increased attention retention and mental strength. Gives slight increase to mental processing (Current 10) Mental Capacity Each point in this gives increased mana capacity and memory. Adds 75 mana per point (Current 11) Charisma Each point in this gives increased charm and social influence. Gives slight increase to intuition (Current 10)
The points given were all over the place and half did not do much. What was charm? What was social influence? Even more so why was mental capacity so much higher than the others? After a little looking I saw that Inheritance was the reason for the last question. At least that was one answers found.
I took the last couple days looking through all the screens. By then my mana was up to 29 and I was feeling a little less tired than before. It would seem I now had a body but when I tried to do anything with it it did nothing. I guess I will have to take my time trying to learn this thing called ‘movement’.
It took quite some time for me to get any of these odd branch things to even sway a small amount. The days did not seem to want to stay long enough for me to get anything to happen. By the time I was even able to stand on the four branches that were attached to my body my mana was up to 220. It also became apparent with me moving my top trunk so much that I had small branches on the top sides of it, as well as thin leaves like those on my third lower branch as well. I decided that was good enough for now and looked to see what else I could focus on now that I had some mana. Right as I decided that, a weird sensation made itself known to me. It took some moments for me to discover what it was and when I did it was interesting.

Skill learned Movement You can now move, you have learned what all living things learn to do from a young age (Costs Stamina)
I feel like this screen is useless, even if I did get a skill.
Turning away I came back to what I was thinking before, mana. I did not have all that much use for it at the moment with the only skill I have taking so much. So instead I decided to first just see what it did.
It took another couple days for me to even find how to interact with my mana. During this time I found each of my trunks had even smaller branches at the end, each able to move independent of the others if I concentrated. I was on the ground in front of my tree looking up at the gloriousness that is the sky, not moving and just trying to think of ways for me to start using mana when another of the odd system pings made itself known. I learned of the name of the odd sensation after the first one happened. This one said.
Skill learned Meditation You have waited, you have been patient, this will help with focus (Costs mental focus)
It was an odd skill but when I used it next I was soon able to get a faint feeling resonating from my tree to me. When I started trying to do anything with it, I found that I could but it would break my meditation. This meant I had to constantly try to meditate until I could feel the resonating, try to act on it, or if I either failed to focus on it or do anything with it and lost the connection it would make me start over again.
Trying this seemed to use some small amount of my mana, maybe 3 to 5 depending on how much I messed up connecting. It took until I had about 45 mana left before any real progress was made. By that point I was able to connect to my mana and stay connected. I still had to use meditation before I could even feel the connection but the time I had to do so was starting to shrink.
As soon as I was able to connect and stay connected to my mana I got the feeling of being able to do more with it. I next tried to just focus on the mana I could feel in my body as trying to distort my connection with my tree might lead to it breaking. I did not know what would happen if that were to occur but I am pretty sure this body would fail and I would need to made another. Not even considering what my mental connection would do.
By the time I was able to sense the mana that was in my body my mana reserve was low enough for me to stop. I did not want to go unconscious for no reason. Instead of doing anything using mana I turned back to trying to move this body again. It was odd that another skill screen did not come from learning that but maybe it was not a skill or something. Although that did not seem correct..
It was getting easier with the skill. I now was able to move the higher and lower trunks at the bends on the middle as well as the knots at the end of each. It took another night to be able to move around easily on them. When the sun next appeared over the trees I was at the edge of what I now considered ‘my’ grassy glade. When I got to it several of the living grass and leaf beings sat in the trees.
There was a large problem though. The further from my tree I got the less regeneration I got. By the time I arrived under the trees the effects started lowering my capacity of stamina and mana as well. At the time it was also apparent that all my stats were lowered but I was not thinking well enough to look at the screens.
I spent little time out under the other trees, my thoughts were about why this would happen. I tried to get back into my trees range as I did so. By the time I got half way back through the grass my mind was clearer but it had taken more time than I thought. It was raining as I finally got back under my tree and my stamina was finally nearing full nut my mana was only 21.
Thinking for some time I decided on what to do next. The main thing that I seem to be being stopped by was my mana. Growth was obviously the reason for it but what could I do to lower it? It took a day or so for me to come up with something that may help, territory.
I assumed that since it was the only other skill that I could use that seemes to use mana it may help raise my efficiency with mana. That should help with my mana regeneration complications.Activation the skill I started trying to do anything with it like my previous attempts with mana in my body.
By the next day I was mentally exhausted, like when I moved away from my tree but worse. I did get my territory to start filling with my mana after trying to see what would happen. After this I was to low on mana to do anything else but I did get a skill.
Skill learned Mana Mist This skill creates a higher density area around you of your own mana. Boundary is the size of territory (Cost Mana, variable)
I was unable to continue with mana for now so I decided that I could try more movement. It took many days for my mana to get to an acceptable amount. I was happy to see because of my efforts my regeneration also went up to 0.5. Halfway through my time waiting for my mana, I learned that my body was actually meant to move on only the lower trunks. I learned this by trying to climb my tree and falling to the ground soon after. The lower trunks took most of the fall when I did but the damage was minimal.
It was actually the first time I had taken damage. It was unpleasant and made me want keep it from happening again.
The time it took for my mana to get up to 200 was a rainy time. It must have rained at least every other day. By the end of it my tree was looking even better than before. The mana I had first used in making the mana around my tree seemed to be thicker than before. I tried to use territory to check it and was slightly surprised that it actually was thicker. I guess it was okay having the mana condensing around my tree, it did not seem to do anything.
I began trying to focus on my the mana in my body. I was able to get my mana to to acquiesce after some time and was soon able to forgo the meditation method after. It was an interesting feel being able to move the mana that was inside of myself. I took a small amount of time away to see if I would get another screen and was proven correct.
Affinity gained Mana This is the basic form of all magic. This is the weakness of all affinities but is also the basis to learn any others.
Just getting this gave my mana regeneration a huge growth from 0.5 to 0.9 per hour. I was elated by the increase and was also happy to see that in all the time I spent on mana and movement I had gain a point in wisdom.
Because my mana was low after my efforts in magic I felt I should try some more movement. Looking around I saw one of those odd sky using leaf beings near the edge of my glade. I was interested enough in these non-plant things that I was soon trying to get closer to this one. By the time I was near it I was tired but not as much as before.
Looking at it let me see that the colours of this one were mostly white and grey, like a burnt down field. I felt bad that it was probably hurt from that. It seemed that it was stuck on the ground as the large leaves on its sides were swinging but it did not move upward. Once I was closer it seemed to grow more frantic in its swinging, like it was in a windy storm or something.
Looking at it for some time I was perplexed by what it was trying to do. I decided to see what I could find if I moved it into my territory. Moving my branches to remove it from the ground I soon had it with me. This was when it tried to remove itself from me by jumping to the ground. I knew that falling from a tree would hurt so I did my best to keep it from doing so. I did not get far before it was already almost free.
I thought that it would have stopped by now and I did not want to harm it so I decided to try giving it some mana to see if it would stop. When I did, it did stop but something else interesting happened as well.
