Chapter 8: Why Are You So Stupid?

Chapter 8: Why Are You So Stupid?

"Disciple, where are you?"

Adrian shivered when he heard the crazy old man's voice. "Oh crap, he's here!"

However, before he could move a muscle, the old man already appeared before him. "Ah there you were."

"I-I-I..." Adrian couldn't help, but felt afraid. Since he ran away and now that the crazy old man was back, what was he going to do to him?

However, amidst his fear, he didn't notice that the old man was looking at the Red Crown Horned Dragon's corpse. The old man took a few glance at the pieces of burnt flesh that was littered everywhere within sight. His nose perked up and smelled the disgusting scent of blood. Still, out of this chaos, what attracted him the most of were the golden tips of the dragon's horn.

The old man looked away at the corpse and delivered his attention to Adrian. "You did all of this?"

"Y-Ye-Yes!"

The old man continued to look at him before laughing. "Well I'll be damned! As expected of my disciple."

He looked at the forest fire in the distance that had already spread to hundreds of meters of land. He stretched out his right hand with the palm up. Then, he flipped it.

Massive clouds gathered in the distance and rain started to pour down. Soon, the spreading fire completely disappeared. However, that wasn't the end of it.

The burnt trees, small plants, and cindered leaves started to regrow until they were all a bright green and brown color. With a flip of his hand, the old man casually washed out the wildfire and even restored the forest to what it once was.

Adrian couldn't help, but sigh in envy. Even with all the cheats he have, to be able to do something like this were way beyond his abilities. Nonetheless, he cheered himself up by saying that he could definitely such a degree of strength in the future.

After reinstating the forest, the old man waved his hand and the corpse, even the scattered parts, disappeared. Of course, they didn't really disappeared, but instead were transported into the small pouch that he was holding.

He then grabbed a hold of Adrian and then they both appeared outside the cottage.

Seeing that he was back on the mountain top, Adrian couldn't help, but screamed internally and put on a nervous expression.

"Now, now, I know how you feel, but don't try to run away again, okay? You don't need to stay here for long. I only planned for you to stay here for 4 or 5 years." The old man waved his hand and the dragon corpse appeared again. "First, tell me about how far you you've reached in the Concept of Fire and Concept of Ice."

Adrian didn't feel particularly shock that the old man knew he trained in fire and ice. What did made him a little surprise was why the old man asked him what level he reached. He figured that with the old man's experience, he could've just determine it the level of his concepts with a mere glance.

Still, Adrian didn't dared idle. "I've reached the first level in both concepts; the level of 'Burning Heat' in the Concept of Fire and the level of 'Freezing Cold' in the Concept of Ice. At the same time, I have reached the third stage of comprehension in them and now they are engraved in my bones and marrows."

When Adrian became a Xiantian lifeform by cultivating the [Divine Asura Idol], his body was recreated by the universe and formed from fire and ice. At the same time, because of the strange natural laws of this universe, this resulted in him gaining insights to the Fire and Ice Concepts.

Also, because this was a matter of reconstructing a new body, he got a bonus of these concepts being engraved in his bones, which could be described as the third level of comprehension in any concepts or laws.

There were three levels in the comprehension of concepts and laws: memory-comprehension, body-comprehension, and bone-comprehension.

Memory-comprehension was the first level of comprehension and the most basic. It simply referred to memorizing the laws with one's memory. However, memories could fade through the passage of times. Even to supreme experts of the Divine Realm, this was entirely possible.

The second level of comprehension was body-comprehension. When Adrian first heard of the second level, the first thing he thought of was muscle memory, which was pretty much body-comprehension. At this stage, one could reflexively use the concepts and laws as they wish and the laws will never be forgotten by them.

Finally, the "bone-comprehension" level represented the highest level of comprehension when understanding concepts and laws! At this level, the concepts and laws that they commanded would be engraved into their bones and marrows, forever becoming a part of them. This meant that the laws were a part of their body and they were a part of the law!

Although reaching the third comprehension level was impressive, especially for someone of Adrian's age and cultivation level, the old man only grunted. "Not bad..."

He took a few moment before talking again. "Show me what move you used to defeat that red dragon."

Adrian nodded and took a step back. He appeared ten meters from the old man and displayed the [Twin Lotuses of Fire and Ice].

The lotuses swarmed the old man in two different directions. He stood there as the rotating lotuses slammed into him. After a few minutes, he raised his arms and the lotuses shattered.

"Not bad. These lotuses contains large amounts of fire and ice energy, but you have enough power to make 3 or 4 more sets of this technique. Alone, these lotuses could kill ordinary Revolving Core peasants and suppress Life-Destruction scrubs. However, this rotating quality of these lotuses gives it a powerful grinding ability that tears through energy so you should be able to kill stage one or stage two Life-Destruction babies easily."

Although the old man was complimenting Adrian, the latter revealed a few smiles at the old man's comment on the Revolving Core and Life-Destruction realm. Peasants? Scrubs? Babies? Old man, even if you are powerful and live long enough to be the ancestor of my ancestors' ancestors, must you really call them so?

"Although this technique isn't bad... it's just... why are you so stupid!?" The old man sighed as with profound disappointment.

"Huh?" No matter how great he was in understanding the laws, Adrian couldn't even comprehend the old man's question.

"I said, 'why are you so stupid?'" The old man scoff. "Most people, when learning two or so more laws, would try their best to fuse them together, or at least try to apply them together. However, your fire and ice concepts don't have a single link! You really never thought about fusing them before?"

Fusing laws? Of course Adrian wanted to fuse his fire power with ice power, but he wanted to start off learning step by step before actually fusing them. "I have thought about fusing them before, however, because they are polar to each other, it's not easy to fuse them, so I wanted to slowly to comprehend them little by little before fusing them."

"Little by little? Ain't nobody got time to do that! Besides, because they are polar opposite they are easier to fuse together, isn't that obvious?" The old man walked to the side of the house and picked up a large object. He hung the object on the wall and walked back in front of Adrian.

The object was a large wheel with a diameter of nine feet. Half of the wheel was color black and the other half was white.

"This is called the Wheel of Polarity and Harmony. What colors do you see on the wheel?" The old man asked.

"I see black and white." Adrian answered.

"Anything else?" The old man's voice contained a nuance of disappointment. Adrian shook his head.

"Hah... as expected. Ah well, just sit on front of this thing for a while and meditate on it. Within 24 hours, you should be able to feel your Fire Concept and Ice Concept beginning to fuse." The old man put his right pinky into his nose and started to pick it.

However, the disciple was nowhere near as relax as the master. Adrian looked at the black and white wheel on the wall of the house. He heard of object that could improve cultivation or analysis of the laws, but this black and white wheel was extremely shabby looking and looks as though it was bought from an old pawn shop.

Still, he silently walked over and meditate on the wheel.

As he was meditating, the old man picked up the Red Crown Horned Dragon's corpse and walked to the back of the house where intense light flicker about every so often.

Under the starry night sky, all creatures stayed in quiet and so the mountain and the nearby forest descended into silence as well.

.....

About a million kilometer from the mountain where old man and Adrian were, a spatial tear appeared in the sky.

A black-bearded, bald-headed elder wielding a wooden staff walked out of the spatial tear and it immediately closed up. The elder looked down at the village a hundred meters below him.

This village was part of a large region that had numerous rivers and lakes around, but was currently suffering from a great drought. Even magical beasts were greatly affected by this drought.

The village was rather small and isolated from other villages and cities so it couldn't gain much assistance from their neighbors.

The bald elder sighed and waved his staff. Dark and stormy clouds that stretched for thousands of kilometers appeared all over the large region and covered the sky of the village.

Seconds later, rain started to pour over the region. This rain greatly shocked the entire region, humans and beasts alike. The rainy clouds remained in the sky for seven days before disappearing.

However, the entire region was cured from the drought. Rivers and lakes appeared in the region again and all living things in the region bowed to the sky celebrated for weeks.

The elder was still standing above the village and watched as the villagers celebrated with dancing, singing, and feasting.

While he stood there, small golden wisps of light were all coming towards and entering him. Some were large, while others were smaller, but all of them were at least larger than a regular golf ball.

However, the elder looked as though he didn't notice these golden wisps only silently looked at the celebration. Once the celebration was over, the old man waved his hand and a spatial tear appeared once more.

He stepped into it and it disappeared once more. When the spatial tear appeared again, it was on the mountain where Adrian and the old man resided.

The elder looked the boy sitting in front of a black and white wheel. He turned his gaze to the cottage and then walked to a nearby boulder where he sat and meditated on.

At the same time, a small grunt came from inside the cottage.
