Old Friends.

Chapter 1: Old Friends.

“Sir, What do we do? The enemy will be here soon. They are showing no sign of stopping.” A large demon wearing all black plated armour said to a much larger demon who was sat upon a throne of gold.

The size of the demon upon the throne made the other demon look like an infant in comparison. He stood up causing the room to shake. As he stood up his sheer size became even more noticeable. He was well over ten meters tall.

His movements were slow and calculated but with every step he took the building shook. He looked down upon his loyal subject and rubbed his chin.

“This form is a little inconvenient.” He said before snapping his fingers. His body now shrunk to the same size as the demon before him. He was just a little over two meters tall.

“Tell me, What is the situation?” He followed the demon from behind as they walked out on to the balcony of his throne room.

“Sir, As you can see. They have made it all the way into our capital. Those despicable humans are slaughtering our people. We already sent the best of our men but they haven’t come back yet. I’m afraid they have already…”

His words were cut off by the Kings voice. “And what about him?” He asked. It took a few seconds but the smaller demon seemed to understand.

“We already sent someone to fetch him. The only problem is… How do I put this? He said that he isn’t coming out.” The smaller demon said back as he looked up at his king.

“He said he isn’t coming out? Are you sure that’s all he said? Are you lying to me?” The king asked and then put his hand on the shoulder of his subject.

“No King Amon, Sir. I didn’t mean to conceal his words from you. They were just a bit… Vulgar…” After he spoke there was a long pause of silence. He turned his gaze away from his King out of fear for what he might do.

“It’s okay, I understand. How about we go and see if I can convince him to join us?” King Amon said and then gave him a light pat on the back.

The force from the pat was almost enough to knock the smaller demon off his feet. After a brief struggle for his footing, he regained his balancer and then began to follow King Amon as they walked throughout the halls of his magnificent castle.

After a few minutes of walking, they reached a door. The door looked like it hadn’t been opened for centuries. There was dust all over it and the paint had begun to crack and peel off onto the floor.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

King Amon raised his hand and hit the door three times. The knocks were almost deafening. It was sure to get the attention of whoever was on the other side.

Dust from the door flew back and covered both the King and his subject. The turned to look at each other as there was nothing but silence. A few minutes went by and the silence continued.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

He knocked again. There was no response once again. He then pressed his ear against the door to see if there was any movement. After a few seconds, he heard what sounded like humming from the other side. ‘Is he singing? What in the world?’ The King thought and then removed his head.

Just as he was about to speak he was interrupted.

“Hello? Human… Are you in there?” The smaller demon stepped forward and shouted into the door. Both the King and his subject then took a step back as they waited for the door to open. But it didn’t

“I thought I told you to piss off!? I’m not getting involved in any more of your stupid wars. Deal with it yourselves.” A youthful voice shouted back from the other side.

King Amon looked down at the smaller demon and furrowed his brows as he looked back toward the door. The smalled demon put his face right up against the door.

“Mind your manners human! You are in the presence of the King.” He shouted. And then smiled to himself proudly.

“Oh, Amon is here? Then I would like to kindly request that you both piss off, and leave me alone!” The voice on the other side shouted back.

A few seconds went by as the smaller demon looked up at his king and then back to the door in disbelief.

BANG!

The door flew from its hinges and hit the wall on the other side of the room. A giant cloud of dust emerged from the dust as a gust of wing shot inside. The sounds of paper clashing together could be heard as both the King and demon walked into the pitch-black room.

The demon held his arm to the side of the room and flipped the light switch. The room lit up instantly revealing the state that it was in. There were clothe littering the floor and dust touched ever surface. Not to mention the smell. It smell was like something had died in there.

“Ah, Ah, Ah. Now, why would you go and do something like that? Do you know how long it took me to put all this in order!?” The voice called out again as the dust finally settled. Lay on top of the dust-covered bed was a boy. He looked to be around sixteen or seventeen in age.

His hair dark and matted from a lack of it being washed, and long enough that it reached his ankles as he lay on the bed, covering his face in pain from the blinding light above. His eyes had dark rings beneath them that made him look like the descendant of a panda. But despite the circles under his eyes, they were still beautiful enough to shine like diamonds in this room of filth.

“You dare to disrespect the King?” The smaller demon stepped forward and asked the boy laying on the bed.

“Please, Just shush for a minute. My head burns.” The boy said as his eyes were still adjusting to the light. Who knows how long he had been locked up inside this room? But by the smell, he was giving off it clearly wasn’t a short amount of time.

“Oh, how the mighty has fallen. Look at the state of you, My old friend.” The King said as he looked down at the boy still holding his eyes closed.

“Yeah, Yeah. Friend my ass. The only time you come and talk to me is when you need something.” The boy said whilst he slowly removed his hands from his diamond blue eyes and looked up at the King. He then shuffled over to the edge of the beg and hung his legs over the edge.

“That’s not… Well yeah, I guess that is true. But you are not a prisoner here. You are free to come and talk to me whenever you want to. You know that already.” The King said as he looked down in pity at the state that his friend was now in.

“What is it this time?” The boy asked and then hopped down onto the floor. As his feet touched the cold tile floor he immediately jumped back onto the bed and began to rub the bottom of them.

The king smiled at him. “Well. A hero from the Human kingdom has come to exterminate us… Could you help me out? I can give you anything you want as a reward.  Just save my people please.” The king begged. He then bowed his head to the boy sat upon the bed.

The smaller looking demon looked on in shock. The man he had looked up to all his life was bowing down to a human boy. It drove rage into his very core but he knew there was nothing he could do right now.

“A human hero? I haven’t heard of one of them for a while… Why don’t you just kill him?” The boy asked and then took a second attempt to walk on the cold floor.

He then walked right passed the King and his loyal subject and then out into the hallway. “Hmm. I don’t remember this. Did you redecorate whilst I was in hibernation?” The boy asked and then turned to face the King.

“Hibernation? I don’t think you can call it hibernation if you lock yourself away for three hundred years…” The King muttered.

“Three hundred years!!! Why didn’t any of you tell me that it had been that long?” The boy said as the King’s face turned to one of anger.

“Well, We tried to. Countless times I have sent people to your chambers to bring you to me. But you keep telling them to piss off.” The king sighed in frustration.

“Is that so? Well anyway, Tell me more about this Hero.” The boy chuckled and then began to follow the King as they walked through the halls of his castle.
