Chapter 2:
The boy walked behind the two demons out onto the balcony to watch the battle raging on below. He looked out and gazed upon the scene.
“Woah, You guys are getting your asses kicked. How did this happen? Aren’t you supposed to be the strongest race?” The boy mocked the King and his people. The smaller demon was visibly getting more and more frustrated with the human boy.
“You know? I actually missed this attitude of yours. The people around here only ever treat me with respect and tell me things I want to hear. It’s refreshing hearing how brutally honest you are.” The King praised the boy and then smiled weakly as he watched more of his people being slaughtered below.
The boy looked on as a party of five humans walked along the main road toward the castle indiscriminately killing every demon they came across.
The party of humans had begun to set buildings on fire and wait for the demons cowering inside to run away from the flames. But as they escaped the burning building they would only be running straight to their deaths.
“Did they say why they are here?” The boy asked as he watched on at the horrific scene before him. He didn’t even flinch as he saw many women and children murdered before him.
“They haven’t spoken a word about a motive. The only thing I can think of is that we demanded higher taxes from a human village not far from our border. They missed out on a harvest so we had no choice to raise their tax.” The King said. His face was pale like he was about to throw up.
“Mama!” The voice of a child called out as a woman was beheaded by a blond-haired human wearing silver-plated armour. He then looked over to where the voice had come from.
“Oh, Would you look at that, We have another little hellspawn over here” He called out as he approached the young demon of about five years old.
The boy wept as he looked at the body of his mother, Not being able to move out of fear of his life being cut short by the human standing above him.
“Rallen, What are you doing? Just kill it already. It's hurting my ears with its cries.” A short brown-haired woman said to the man standing above the young demon.
He raised his sword up into the air above the neck of the demon and then swung down as hard as he could. A blue glow emerged from his sword during the swing. The sound of flesh ripping apart and bones breaking echoed out.
BOOM!
A Crater was formed in the ground around where the child was stood. A vortex of dirt was shot up into the sky creating a thick mist around the area.
Blood rained down from the sky as the body of the blond-haired human was shot up into the sky. His body flew through the air before skidding to a stop in front of the women who called for the death of the young child.
The boy had jumped from the balcony and was now stood in the centre of the crater. He knelt down next to the young demon child and placed his hand on his shoulder.
“Are you okay?. I’m sorry you had to go through this.” He said to the child in front of him.
The little boy looked up at the human boy. The sight of another human, made him cry more. He had been traumatised by the experience he had just gone through.
“You think I am the same as those pieces of shit right? I really am sorry for your loss. But now I want you to watch. Watch how I take revenge for the death of your mother.” The boy said and then stood up taking a step back from the small demon child.

The dust settled revealing the boy stood in the crater with the demon child.
“Rallen! No! Stay with me!” The brown-haired woman shouted as she began to perform healing magic on the blond-haired man in armour. [Holy mother’s healing light] It was no use. Bits of his skull littered the floor and his brain was nothing but minced meat scattered amongst the dirt.
“You! Who are you!? How dare you kill our leader!” The brown-haired woman shouted and pointed a long wooden staff toward the boy. [Purifying flame] A large pillar of fire shot towards the boy.
He looked at the flame for a second and then a voice from behind called out “Kaito! Catch!” The king shouted from the balcony.
Kaito turned to see a silver sword flying toward hi. He reached out his hand and gripped the green coloured woven fabric hilt. The blade was rusted but still gave off a sharp aura. The fabric on the hilt looked stained and damaged.
He looked down at the sword and sighed. “Yuna, What happened to you?” He asked and then rubbed his hand across the blade.
The pillar of fire headed straight for his face but just as his hand reached the tip of the blade a blue light formed in the air pushing the fire out of the way.
A sound similar to the sound of a bell being rung chimed out. The humans in front of him all covered their ears. The sound hurt so much that it had brought them to their knees.
“So you are still alive after all?” Kaito asked and then looked down at the rusted sword in his hands.
It was no longer rusted. The blade seemed to glow as it reflected the sunlight back into the skies. The fabric was now wrapped tightly around the hilt and looked as good as new.
A flash of purple light emerged from the blade as it began to disappear from his hands.
“You abandoned me. You stupid human.” A woman’s voice emerged from the light as the form of a person came into view.
Her skin was as white as snow and hair as dark as ash that was neatly straightened down to her lower back. It was the perfect conflict between light and dark. Her eyes on the other hand glowed as red as the very pits of hell. He looked up to her head to see the familiar sight of her pitch-black horns that absorbed all of the light nearby.
She looked at Kaito for a few moments… She couldn’t help but laugh as she saw his messy hair and the bags under his eyes.
“Pfft. I know it has been a while since I last saw you. But what in the world has happened to you!?” She asked between laughter.
“Ouch!” She yelled as Kaito brought his hand down on the top of her head. He then smiled lightly as he looked at her.
“Nice to see you too.” He said.
The ground behind them was almost ripped apart as a crowd of demons gathered around them both at the sight of the woman who had appeared out of the sword.
“All hail the Guardian Spirit!” One of the people in the crowd chanted as the rest of the people got on to their knees and looked up at Kaito.
The young demon child looked up confused and questioned what was happening.
“Guardian spirit?” The little boy asked as he looked on at the crowd of demons that had come out of hiding.
“Silly boy. Didn’t I ever tell you the story of Kaito The Guardian Spirit? He is our Hero who has been coming to the aid of our demon clan for the last three hundred years.” A man’s voice came out from behind the boy as he put a hand on his head.
The boy turned around to see a behemoth as a demon looking down at him with gentle eyes.
“Papa!” The boy shouted as he hugged one of his legs. The demon then looked over to the corpse of his wife lying on the ground. A tear dropped down his face before he picked up his son and hugged him.
“Ahem, sorry to interrupt the reunion or whatever. But what is your affiliation with these demons good Sir?” The voice of a young man called out from the other side where the humans were still covering their ears.
This man seemed to be much more powerful than the other four remaining humans. He was wearing a long white robe and had a black pointed hat. He held a staff also but looked much higher in quality. There was a slight light around his body that stopped the song of the demonic sword from invading his soul.
On his robe was a black circle with writing around the middle. The text was unreadable. But Kaito was very familiar with this insignia.
“The Chaotic Order Of Wisdom? Who would have thought that you guys would have survived this long? But yet again. You always have been a bunch of sewer rats.” Kaito said and then laughed as a wave of nostalgia washed over his body.
“Oh, You know our name? Then I would like to apologise to you. But as you already know. none of you will be leaving this place alive.” He spoke and then a wave darkness emerged from the sky and struck the ground where the humans were still lying in pain.
“This one has a lot of determination,” Yuna said and then smiled at Kaito. Who’s eye contact didn’t break from the man in front of him. There was a deep hatred consuming his body.
“I’m ready,” Yuna said as a flash of purple light emerged once again. The blade of the long curved sword kissed the earth before it was slowly lifted into the air.
