Leo tapped “Restart,” watching lines of text describing the new features scroll across the interface.

Excited by the new features, Leo murmured, “A gatcha, huh? I’ve got to try that!”
As the update completed, his inbox chimed with a notification from the system. Inside was a hefty upgrade reward:
[Congratulations! You received: Iron x 1000, Wood x 1000]
Leo grinned, knowing these resources would be invaluable, though they would also spark some envy. Sure enough, as he glanced back at the world chat, players were celebrating the system’s update and the much-needed boost in resources.
For now, Leo focused on his plans. With the new shelter design, potent potions, and updated system features, he was more prepared than ever to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
A red dot appeared on the regional chat icon, drawing Leo’s attention. Curious, he clicked on it. Compared to the lively world chat, the regional chat was quiet, with only a few sparse messages. At the top of the page, a new place name appeared—Falcon Ridge—along with a small map in the corner. It seemed the system had automatically set his location. The map showed that the entire Falcon Ridge area covered a massive 3,000-mile radius, though only a single point on it was lit up, representing his current location. The rest of the area remained unexplored.
Leo exited the regional chat and returned to the world chat, where players were buzzing with excitement about the recent updates.
“I drew a C grade iron sword! Hits like a truck!”
“Meh, C grade gear is everywhere. Nothing special.”
“I traded 6,280 pieces of wood for Madou coin and got a B grade on a ten-draw pull!”
“Anyone want to start a video call?”
Leo was surprised to see so many people searching for him specifically.
“The big boss is online!”
You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.
“I already sent a friend request. Maybe he’ll add me!”
“Please, add me as a friend!”
“Newbie here! Boss, teach me your trick!”
Leo checked his friend list, which had exploded with requests. How had these players even found him? Annoyed by the constant notifications, he switched on the “auto-reject friend requests” option in his settings, finally silencing the endless beeping.
Next, he opened the store icon, which appeared as a shabby roadside shop. A message popped up immediately, the red font practically mocking him:
“Dear survivor, your Madou coin is… a whopping zero. Please gain some we don’t accept IOU! No money, no service.”
Leo smirked. “No matter what world money is everything.”
After closing the message, he clicked on the “sell” option, offloading some basic materials like iron and wood, as well as a few items dropped by monsters. Iron sold for two Madou coin per piece, while wood earned him one coin each.
Satisfied, he exchanged enough materials to gain 100,000 Madou coin and then clicked “buy.” The store’s inventory opened up, and he saw some intriguing items listed at the top.
_____________
Beastmaster’s Guide
Learn the techniques of taming wild Madou creatures and making them obey your commands.
Price: 1,000 Madou Coins
""For those who dream of a loyal beast friend—and not getting eaten in the process."
Madou Cultivation Codex

Price: 1,000 Madou coin
“For those who believe a beastly diet is the key to greatness."
_______________
The two method were clearly designed for different paths. It’s like choosing a class. The guide focused on controlling and bonding with madou, while the codex focused on physical self-improvement, requiring players to kill beasts to gain their blood. It seemed these two paths—one for coexisting, the other exploiting it.
Leo was sure in the future there will be a conflict between them, just like in his old world.
The third item on the list was very similiar with Madou Cube.

Though the success rate was low, the capsule was still popular. Leo suspected it would become even more valuable as players developed their beast-taming skills.
He decided to buy both item to try them out, but as he repeatedly clicked “buy,” an error message popped up.
[Error!!!Cannot buy… Cannot buy! Player already have a class.]
“What the—?” Leo muttered. After some thought he realized the system already choose the class for him. He also speculate one person can only use one item, so even if he somehow got his hand on it it will be no use.
‘Oh well, the beastmaster system I get is better than the one on this. Not only I get 100% capture rate, I also got reward.’
Annoyed, he turned to more practical purchases and used 80,000 Madou coin to buy all the materials needed for his Tora shelter. The most expensive component, a rare Skystone, cost 7,000 coins alone. His wallet was almost empty afterward, making him realize he is not rich at all.
Afterward, Leo checked out the new lottery feature. There were two pools: one used Madou coin, while the other required “special tokens,” which players could only obtain after ten consecutive draws in the regular pool.
With 10,000 coins still left, he decided to try his luck. Scanning the prize list, he saw the grand prize—a Void Bone Wing, a A grade item that allowed players to fly. Just thinking about soaring through the skies had Leo practically itching to win.
He started with single draws, each costing 600 coins.
