Leo glanced to the side, spotting the beast leading the stampede. It was nearly twice as large as the others, with a long, sharp horn that glowed ominously. With a fierce cry, the leader’s horn emitted a dark beam of energy, aiming straight for him.
‘Why the hell it target me!?’ Leo thought, but quickly snapped back to reality, dodging the attack by diving forward. The beam narrowly missed him, blasting through one of the black-horned Unibeasts behind him.
Without missing a beat, Leo tightened his grip on a madou cube, sprinting toward the leader. Moonie and the eagle tore through the herd, while the black-horned leader charged, surrounded by several of its strongest companions, all bristling with aggression.
Leo’s heart pounded with adrenaline. “I’ve already tamed a giant bear and an eagle. What’s a giant horse compared to them?”
Timing it perfectly, he hurled the cube, watching it latch onto the black-horned leader.

After the chaos, Leo signal for Sunny, his eagle, to descend. He climbed onto Sunny’s back, helping the four strangers on top of Sunny. They looked battered but relieved, settling onto the eagle’s back as it ascended.
Once in the air, one of the men, his black robe torn and covered in scars, turned to Leo and bowed gratefully. “Brother, thank you! You saved our lives.”
Leo waved it off. “No problem; we’re all just trying to survive here.”
The man introduced himself, “My name is Quinn Sean. This is my childhood friend, Lily Morgan.” He gestured to a tall, sturdy woman. “And they are Rose Moon and Nina Moon.”
Nina, the younger sister, looked up with curiosity and awe. “Are you at the third level of the Beastmaster class? I’ve never seen anyone command madou like you do!”
This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Leo chuckled. He doesn’t even have that class only the system, but there is no way he told them that. He replied, “Maybe.”
As they settled in, he asked, “So, why were you being chased by so many Unibeasts? And, more importantly… how on earth were you outrunning them?”
Sean and the others looked at each other, exchanging embarrassed glances. Finally, he explained, “We were trying to cross the plain, thinking it would be a shortcut. We… underestimated the herd.”
Leo raised an eyebrow, a smirk on his face. “Underestimated? Sounds like you’ve got some impressive work there, you can even outrun all of them!”
Sean glanced at Lily, who nodded slightly before he spoke up. "Have you ever used potions before?"
Leo’s mind raced. ‘I’ve got a few potions in my inventor, both for humans and madou, so they use potion to buff their speed.’ he thought, but he simply replied, looking surprised, “I’ve seen them in the store, but they’re really expensive!”
Before Sean could respond, Lily chimed in. “Well, it’s not just any potion. This one can’t even be bought in the store! It’s crafted with rare herbs, something you won’t find easily.”
Her tone held a hint of pride, as if this was something special.
Sean continued calmly, “Yeah, you won’t see this kind of thing for sale. It’s not a matter of level, either.”
“Interesting,” Leo remarked, settling himself more comfortably on Sunny’s back. The eagle’s feathers were wide and sturdy, though not exactly soft. As they flew, he noted that it was a cloudy day; he wished for some sunshine to make the scene feel complete.
Sean noticed his reaction and gave a small smile, sensing Leo might want to change the topic. “So Leo, where are you headed?”
“Over there,” Leo pointed to a towering mountain in the distance.
The expressions of the four companions shifted instantly. Sean looked concerned. “You’re going to Falcon Ridge? That place is incredibly dangerous, even with two champion madou by your side.”
Leo nodded, amused. “Ah, so that’s the Falcon Ridge. I like the name. Don’t worry; I’m just going for a look, not a fight. Thank you for the warning, Sean.”
Sean shook his head, his face serious. “Leo, you saved us, so I feel I really need to warn you. That place is really dangerous, believe me.”
Seeing Sean’s genuine concern, Leo asked, “Are you familiar with it?”
“Not exactly,” Sean admitted, then hesitated before asking, “Tell me, Leo, do you believe this world is real?”
Leo blinked, taken aback. “Feels real enough.”
“Lily, would you explain?” Sean gestured to her .
She cleared her throat, her expression serious. “Leo, we owe you our lives, so it’s only fair to share some things with you. Each of us woke up here with a strange system, and as far as we know, there’s no way back.”
Leo listened closely, keeping his face calm, though he felt a strange sense of dread building inside. “So, you’re saying we’re all stuck here?”
Lily nodded solemly. “Yes. When we first arrived, some of us ended up on islands, some in forests, and others in deserts. Many didn’t make it. And as for those who got ‘eliminated’... well, we don’t know if they died here or went back to earth. All we saw were the bodies.”
Her words lingered, and Leo’s doubt started to fade as he saw the solem looks on all four of their faces.
“There were ten of us who came through together,” Sean continued, glancing at the sisters. “Somehow, the Moon sisters ended up close by, which was incredibly lucky. But after countless battles, only the four of us survived. The rest were killed by beasts, their bodies left in pieces. We still don’t know if they truly left this world or…”
Sean voice trailed off, visibly disturbed. Then, as if to lift the mood, he added, “Later, we were lucky enough to meet a man in black robes who led us to a human city!”
Leo raised an eyebrow. “Wait…so, there are human cities here? Did they travel through time as well?”
Lily Morgan shook her head. “We don’t know. The city looked like something from medieval era—well-organized, with vendors, bustling streets. We even joined a group called the Quinvale Trade Guild, escorting goods between cities. But during a journey, we got separated when madou beasts attacked, and we ended up in that stampede.”
