Luna's Regret

A magnificent being bedecked in a stunning gown that shimmers like the sun itself, reclining upon a cloud-like bed of pure, snowy white. While her stance appears to be one of reverent devotion, it seems more likely that she caught some z's whilst sitting upright.

Her luscious locks cascade down her back in a flurry of sun-kissed gold waves that make my heart skip a beat. But wait, there's more! As I zoom in for a closer inspection, I spy a magnificent headpiece perched atop her noggin, elevating her already jaw-dropping beauty to regal levels. It's a true work of art, fit for a queen or a princess - who knows, maybe it's a bona fide crown or tiara! The intricate details shine with a dazzling blend of white and gold, accentuating her already brilliant glow.

Lyra's lips twitched as she tried to hold back a burst of laughter. Her eyes were fixated on the goddess sitting right in front of her. "My my, could this minuscule thing truly be a divine being?" As she pondered the thought, her hand sprang into action and clamped down on her mouth, desperately trying to stifle the riotous laughter bubbling up inside her.

As her voice echoed through the never-ending expanse of this pure, snowy world like a boomerang on steroids. It was as if her words were bouncing off invisible walls, creating a symphony of sound that stretched on for eternity. Suddenly, the sleeping goddess that had been blissfully unaware of our presence was jolted awake by the unexpected noise.

With a sense of urgency that would make a cheetah jealous, she scanned her surroundings with a wild-eyed look. Her peepers bounced around until they finally landed on us, and her face contorted into a look of pure bewilderment. But before we could even process what was happening, her expression shifted to one of even greater shock. Suddenly, she sprang up like a jack-in-the-box, her eyes locked onto ours with a ferocity that would make a lion proud. With a voice that could cut through steel, she demanded, "Hey! who the hell are you two and how'd you manage to get in here?"

Lyra's laughter couldn't be held back any longer and burst forth like a volcanic eruption, shaking the very foundations of the empty expanse around us. The sound reverberated off the empty void and ricocheted back, amplifying the mirthful chaos. The woman standing before us was caught off guard and her face transformed like a chameleon changing colors. At first, she looked puzzled and surprised, but then her expression twisted into a mix of anger and confusion, still etched on her face like a permanent marker.

"Stop right there, you giggle-snorting rascal!" she hollers, jabbing her finger in Lyra's direction. "What in the name of all that's holy is so funny?!"

Lyra's laughter suddenly slams on the brakes and screeches to a halt, like a startled rabbit frozen in the headlights of an oncoming car. Her eyes become locked onto the divine entity, as if they were playing a game of intense stare-down that nobody else knew the rules to. "What's so amusing?" she inquires, the god's face scrunches up with skepticism, but before a word can escape her lips, Lyra jumps in with all the finesse of a squirrel on a trampoline. "Why, it's you, my dear," delivering the statement with an air of self-assurance.

With a mighty stomp, the goddess marched towards Lyra, her footsteps echoing with the force of a thousand thunderclaps. "You dare to wander into my domain and giggle in my presence about some secret issue. Tell me, who do you think you are?" She paused, glaring at Lyra with piercing eyes that seemed to see straight through her. "I am Luna, the almighty deity of all things holy and pure. Bow before me or face my wrath!"

"Ah, interesting. And what might this be? A little pup yapping at me?" Lyra muses, her words tinged with a hint of amusement.

I stare at Lyra with a mix of disappointment, regret, and confusion swirling in my mind, I can't help but wonder: what on earth is she thinking? The god standing before us looks like she's about to explode, and yet Lyra just keeps poking her with a stick. I mean, sure, we came here to satisfy our curiosity, but did she really have to take it this far? It's like she's playing a game of chicken with a divine being.

And honestly, at this point, I'm starting to question whether we ever had the same goal to begin with. Lyra's mind works in such mysterious and unconventional ways that it's hard to tell what she's really after. Maybe she just likes to mess with gods for fun. Who knows?

All I know is that I'm about ready to throw in the towel. I bring my hand up to my forehead in frustration, wondering how I got roped into this mess in the first place. But then again, maybe that's just the price you pay for hanging out with someone as wild and unpredictable as Lyra.

"Lyra, umm, it would be optimal if you were to..." I tried to give her a heads up, but before I could finish my sentence, the towering goddess barged in and got all up in Lyra's grill. She was fuming with rage and barked at Lyra, "Oh, isn't this just hilarious? You're practically knocking on death's door, and yet you think it's a barrel of laughs to crack jokes!"

A wicked grin spreads across Lyra's face as she fires back, "How utterly amusing. Haven't you learned that speaking falsehoods is a perilous game, you imbecile?"

"Tch whatever, i'm done playing nice. I was gonna let you slide, but now you've blown it big time. Since you're in my turf, I'm calling the shots and it looks like your goose is cooked. Brace yourself, because I have the power to give you the boot right here and right now!" The goddess declares, soaring upwards with a ferocious aura.

Oh boy, things were already looking bleak, but then Lyra had to go and make it worse. With a flick of her wrist, she summoned her spear like it was just another item on her Amazon wish list. And let me tell you, she did not hold back on the follow-through. All that pent-up power she had stored up was unleashed in a single, magnificent moment. And just when you thought it couldn't get any cooler, Lyra's wings burst out from their hiding place. It was like watching a majestic bird of prey take flight, leaving the goddess in awe.

With a daring glint in her eye, Lyra issued a challenge, "Go ahead and test me, bitch. I'm itching to let loose all this pent-up fury, and you seem like the perfect target. Show some gratitude for the experience I'll give you." As she spoke, she ascended even higher.

As I stand here, watching the drama unfold in front of me, I can't help but feel like a referee at a wrestling match. Should I step in and put a stop to the madness? Or is it best to let the chaos reign supreme? The situation is getting more and more out of hand by the second, and I'm starting to feel like a helpless bystander.

But then, I catch a glimpse of her eyes, and something changes. A spark ignites within them, and I realize that she's actually having the time of her life. It's like she's found a kindred spirit in the midst of all this madness. I can't help but wonder if she's secretly thinking, "Finally! Someone who gets me!" Though, of course, she'd never admit it out loud.

For now, I'll cut her some slack, because it doesn't seem like she's headed for disaster. The second I walked into this holy space and caught a glimpse of the divine being, a weird feeling washed over me, telling me she's..... weak. So, fear not my friend Lyra, you're in safe hands. As for the goddess, well, I can't guarantee her safety, but if push comes to shove, I'll swoop in and save the day without hesitation.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

"Whoa, hold up! You're not exactly who you appeared to be," the goddess exclaims, her eyes widening in shock. "You've snuck into these hallowed grounds undetected, so clearly you're no mere mortal. In fact, you're an angel--and not just any angel, but a top dog in the celestial hierarchy!"

But then, the goddess's expression turns solemn. "I can't say I'm thrilled about this situation, though. As much as I'd like to smite you where you stand, I can't bring myself to harm one of Zaltheon's own kind. So I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to scram and go back to wherever you came from, pronto."

"Mocking me, are you?" Lyra's voice quivered with anger as she tightened her grip on her spear. "And who in the seven realms is this Zaltheon, your so-called superior? I pledge my loyalty to only one true leader - the great Aurora Stormbringer, and no other."

"You're not a follower of Zaltheon? Well, lucky for me, that means I can skip the whole nice talk pitch and go straight to killing you for your sins!" Luna declared with a dramatic flourish of her arms. And as she did so, the very fabric of our surroundings twisted and transformed. Gone was the bland, endless void of white - now we found ourselves surrounded by a sprawling forest, with trees stretching out as far as the eye could see. It was like we'd been transported to a whole new world in the blink of an eye!

In a stunning display of power and authority, she stands tall and proud, emanating an undeniable air of supremacy. With unshakable resolve and an unwavering tone, she boldly proclaims, "This domain unequivocally and undeniably belongs to me, and as its rightful ruler, I hold absolute power over it."

Suddenly, as if in response to her mighty declaration, a dazzling burst of radiant beams of light burst forth from above her, illuminating the entire sky with a resplendent glow. The intensity of these magnificent beams of light surpasses even that of the sun itself.

As the light continues to expand, a tempest of divine energy begins to swirl around her, unleashing a mighty force that is truly awe-inspiring. The very earth trembles beneath our feet, and the trees sway in unison, as if bowing before her incomparable might and power.

With an awe-inspiring display of power and grace, Luna lifted her right arm and, with a sweeping motion, launched the barrage of spears of light towards the earth. The sheer speed and force of her attack was nothing short of astonishing, as the spears hurtled through the air with incredible velocity, leaving a trail of sparkling luminescence in their wake.

With spears hurtling towards the earth like angry thunderbolts, Luna unleashed a mighty cry that echoed across the heavens with all the force of a lightning strike. "Hark!" she bellowed, her voice imbued with a commanding authority that could move mountains. "Behold the !" Her words were like a sacred incantation, summoning a deluge of divine power that would sweep away all who dared to challenge her.

And with those words, the spears of light began to rain down upon the earth like a mighty deluge, each one striking the ground with a resounding impact that sent shockwaves through the earth. The sheer power and intensity of Luna's attack was a sight to behold, as the world was bathed in a dazzling display of radiant light and energy.

As the spears rained down upon Lyra like a storm of porcupine quills, Lyra stood with an eerie calm that would make a monk envious. Her face was like a serene lake on a windless day, giving no hint of the fear and apprehension that would cripple most mere mortals. She looked up at the sky, transfixed by the dazzling display of swirling patterns in the falling hail, and spoke in a voice as melodic as a nightingale's song, "I do love the rain."

Luna, who had been watching from a safe distance, gasped in amazement as Lyra's words were followed by a thunderous impact, as the deadly spears struck her with a ferocity that could move mountains. The force of the impact was enough to shatter solid rock and leave behind a deep crater in the ground, but to Luna's astonishment, Lyra remained rooted to the spot, unscathed and unharmed.

Lyra's expression shifts, her smile transforming into a commanding gesture that exudes a palpable sense of authority. "Is something amiss?" she inquires, her tone brimming with confidence. "Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but it seemed as though you were merely administering a massage rather than carrying out your intended task of ending my life." She pauses briefly, fixing her unwavering gaze upon Luna, her eyes infused with a potent magical energy. "But don't fret," she adds in a calm, collected manner. "I'd be more than happy to return the favor to you."

In a flash of feathers and a whoosh of wind, she appeared right in front of Luna, like a magical apparition. Her wings flapped so fast that the ground shook and twisted in her wake, as if it couldn't keep up with her incredible speed. With a fierce determination, she poised herself above Luna, holding her spear with deadly precision, ready to strike at any moment. Luna was left dumbfounded, her jaw dropping in shock as she realized the danger she was in.

With the ferocity of a lioness and a speed that can rival a lightning bolt, Lyra, unleashes the full force of her battle prowess. Her pointed spear, glimmers dangerously in the sunlight, as she brings it down with an unstoppable momentum towards her opponent, Luna.

Luna, with her back against the wall, stares in terror at the approaching threat. But, by some stroke of luck or perhaps a flicker of fate, she manages to dodge the incoming strike, barely escaping the deadly tip of the spear. Her body moves with inhuman agility, allowing her to avoid the imminent death that was just a heartbeat away.

The impact of Lyra's spear on the ground is cataclysmic. The immense power and strength behind the weapon create a shockwave that reverberates through the air. The ground shakes and shudders violently, as if a giant's hammer is striking it with full force. The very fabric of reality seems to contort and twist, as if unable to withstand the sheer force of the blow.

And then, as if in response to the spear's power, the earth itself opens up. A deep, dark chasm appears beneath their feet, swallowing everything in its path. The ground collapses into an unfathomable abyss that seems to have no end, a gaping maw that threatens to devour anything and everything in its wake. The air is filled with the sound of grinding rock and the screams of the falling trees, as the abyss swallows them whole.

Lyra gave Luna a dose of her signature sarcasm, dripping with a tone that made it clear whatever had just happened was as insignificant as a piece of lint on her shirt. "Oh, what's the matter? Why the sudden dodge?" Lyra's words were like a gauntlet thrown down, daring Luna to pick it up and engage in a verbal joust. But there was no doubt about where Lyra stood on the issue. Her opinion was as clear as the sparkling waters of a mountain stream on a sunny day.

"Oh, snap! What kind of being are you, anyways? How in the universe do you possess such mind-boggling power? You're power practically gives the gods a run for their money, and you're not even using divine energy!" exclaimed Luna, dramatically pointing a few miles away at Lyra.

Lyra flashed a smile as she replied, "There's no need for me to expend divine energy on you. Such a measure would be excessive and unnecessary."

"Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up!" Luna exclaims in disbelief, as a bead of sweat takes a death-defying plunge down her cheek. "You're saying you can actually wield it?!" Her eyes widen in shock, as if she's just been told pigs can fly.

"Undoubtedly so," Lyra utters, thrusting her right hand outward, as a resplendent azure divine energy materializes in the center of her palm. "This is merely a trifling matter," she declares.

Luna's eyeballs nearly popped out of their sockets with surprise and wonder! She was in total shock from seeing Lyra pull off such a wild feat and totally amazed at the raw power emanating from her. Luna's whole body started to shake as she tried to process all the events that led up to this momentous occasion. After a few moments of awkward silence, Luna mustered up the courage to speak, her voice shaky as she stammered out, "Uh, yeah...those things I said earlier? Just kidding! They were totally jokes, haha!"
