Chapter 2 - Silversnow Mountain

Chapter 2 - Silversnow Mountain

There was a flame burning in Shi song’s eyes, a desire to explore the battleground between gods and legends. This was an innate desire which stemmed down to the instinct of every mortal, and even every weak and lowly beast.

“Since I have so much free time every day, I might as well go check it out.” Shi song thought. Shi song only had his father, Shi wei, left. His mother, Li Biyu, disappeared when he was at the age of 3. Shi wei doted on Shi song a lot, as Shi song was his only child. Shi song had a lot of freedom, and his father did not force him to do anything he disliked.

Shi song could tell that his father and mother loved each other a lot. Till this day, he never understood why his mother would want to leave his father.

Although Shi wei could not make much money and was poor, Shi song never blamed his father. In fact, Shi song sometimes blamed himself for being a useless son, being neither smart nor hardworking. Shi song knew that his father worked very hard every day in order to give him a comfortable life, which is why he always wanted to find ways to make his father’s life easier.

After Shi song reached home, he left his belongings behind. When his father saw him leaving, he asked, “Where are you going?”. Shi song then told his father about his plan to explore Silversnow mountain, which his father allows, which he always does.

Shi song immediately headed off for Silversnow mountain. Due to the extremely advanced technology, all Shi song needed to take was 5 minutes to traverse the 7-mile distance between his house and Silversnow mountain.

During the travel on the Rapid Transition System, it was so fast that Shi song could not see the large and everlasting Silversnow mountain clearly. Only after getting off did he see the enormous and wide mountain, with some slopes as steep as the straight walls of a building in the city.

Shi song decided to find his own path up Silversnow mountain. The reason he came here was not to go to the peak and find the Silversnow valley, but to explore around the mountain instead. He was not willing to reach the peak, for fear of risking his life from the many dangers present.

Due to his weak physique and his lack of strength, Shi song decided to follow the slope with the most gentle incline. He started with a slow pace, looking around and exploring along the way. The scenery here was beautiful, with luscious green trees and flowing rivers, Shi song felt incredibly peaceful. Since young, he did not have that many chances to be this attuned to nature.

Shi song closed his eyes as he focused on the radiating heat of the sun, felt the gentle and delicate touch of the wind on his skin. He started to discover new physical sensations of his body that he had never felt before. His mind was calm as he listened to the flowing water. He grew more aware of his entire body, every limb, every finger, every toe. The wind endlessly cutting through his hair.

“So this is how wonderful the 6th sense is…”. Just as Shi song was lost in his thoughts, “Plop!”. An abnormal wave of sound from a puddle of water woke Shi song up from this special state and forget about everything he just experienced.

The criteria to embark on the first step of cultivation is to awaken up one’s 6th sense! Only when one has awoken up his 6th sense will one be able to sense the true profound secrets of the world. This was why nobody has been able to embark on the path of cultivation since the war, as awakening the 6th sense without any guidance was far too difficult! Shi song was extremely lucky, and was this close to doing so, but he was distracted just a second before he completed his awakening! The wind around Silversnow mountain seemed to hum a melody of sadness, as if to grieve this loss.

“Why does my mind feel so clear?” Shi song realized that his senses were much clearer and his thoughts were faster. It was as if he had just woken up from a nap during a very tiring day. All of the things Shi song was experiencing was the result of the strengthening of all his 5 senses.

“Plop! Plop! Splash!”. Shi song used his strengthened sense of hearing and followed the sounds until he reached the source producing all these weird splashes.

Shi song stared blankly.

There was a fish in a puddle of water that was almost going to dry out under the hot sun. The fish kept squirming around, trying its best to keep its gills under the water, which was considerably hard seeing how the fish was 1.5 times the size of the amount of water. Shi song was not going to question how the fish even got there, as there would be no use doing so.

Seeing how the fish was struggling to survive, Shi song was enlightened.

“Life and death are interconnected. Without death, there will no longer be life. Without life, there will be no deaths. Life and death are an endless cycle, one that is endless. Little buddy, for us to cross paths is fate. I shall allow you to live longer!”. Saying that, Shi song took out his water bottle and placed the fish within.

“Since I found this fish near the battleground between the Qiya Empire and the Yuehan empire, I will name it Yue ya.” Shi song mused to himself.

A boy dressed in blue, holding a bottle containing a fish that was yellowish red like that of a flame, slowly but steadily hiked up the mountain. His eyes seemed to radiate the beauty of nature.
