Vol.2 – Chapter 18.3 – Gods really don’t exist

Afternoon arrives, the sun is about to fall like my soul plunging slowly into despair. I had no money; money means everything... so everything in my eyes seems like nothing. I had no life, no hope without money that I could spend. The bitch took away everything from me; my life is over.

I am like the sun, I was so bright and dazzling like the blaze of gases exploding into the vast galaxy... I was an adventurer worthy of praise, a person with ambition to save the world, yet now I am just a worthless goblin. I was reborn ugly, and I continue to grow uglier and poorer.

There's no hope for me in this life. Tears are about to fall from the side of my eyes while I stare into the sunset until I heard the devil's voice.

"Sempai..."

I looked towards the devil that spoke; it was Fielma, holding the bag of money she took away from me.

_She didn't spend it?_ That was my hopeful thought until I took it from her hand only to see a bunch of rocks inside... My soul fades away, burned into ashes with the heat of despair.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself."

My heart beats faster; I couldn't hear anything but the loud thump of my heart. And soon I realized that I am squeezing my fist... Can she tell it? The hatred sinking into my flesh? Screaming with my eyes?

"B-But, I did my best to be moderate. It's just... this pendant that looks like Blue Plops. It's the flower I wanted to see a long time ago, so... I couldn't help myself," she said while she showed me the gem-like pendant for a flower...

Her words and the image are like swords stabbing my chest... how could she spend on something so useless! With the remaining strength I have, I grip on the bag of stones and throw it away to the river as far as I could with all the rage I have for her.

Then I ran away... never looking at her.

"Sempai! Sempai!" she called to me desperately and chased, but I pretended not to listen... "Please, hear me out!"

I stopped in my tracks and turned around; she flinched when she saw the rage and tears in my eyes... "There's nothing more to say, Fielma... There's nothing more..."

"No way..."

Then I ran, fragments of tears dissolved on the wind as it left behind...

I ended up in an unknown alley, an alley in which I deserve to cry... I screamed from the top of my lungs like a soldier amid a fierce battle. It is the roar of a lion but desolate like the whisper of whales in the dark isolated ocean where no light could pierce through...

"My hard-earned money..."

Then I screamed again, when suddenly, a rock was thrown at me!

"SHUT UP! YOU'RE BEING TOO NOISY"

"Who the hell did that!?"

I swear I will kill whoever threw this sharp-looking rock at my head! What the fuck!? Are they trying to kill me!

I looked at the person who threw it only to see two little girls over there. One of the girls has a bunch of snowballs accumulated in her arms. It is noticeable that some of the snowballs have rocks and she looks so frightened, shaking as she stands there. She has long dark bluish hair that reaches her waist and bangs that cover her eyebrows. The second girl hiding on her back has shorter and lighter-colored hair. She's smaller in height and stature than the girl with long hair. Though the second girl seems more smug and confident than the first.

The second girl patted the first girl's shoulder; the first girl spoke anxiously, "Mi-mi-mister, why are you screaming like an idiot?"

"Ha? You kids wanna die?"

The first girl flinched in fright; she looked left and right as if trying to spot somebody else to call for help. When she couldn't find anybody, she started tearing up and about to cry.

They are the ones who started this so don't judge me for picking up on kids.

The second girl, of course, noticed her anxiety, and loudly, she started mocking me. "Hah! Look at him, Nitch, he pissed his pants! Hilarious!"

What?

At first, I didn't understand what she's talking about. I don't piss my pants or anything. What am I, a three-year-old kid? Well, technically I am, but I am an adult in mind, and goblins mature faster than humans. Then I noticed when I looked at my clothes that she's actually pointing at the yellow pigment on my costume...

"T-this is not piss; it's pus!"

The first girl chuckled briefly, prompting the second girl to harass me more.

"What? P-pup-pussy...?"

"That settles it; I'm gonna kill you two."

I'm dead serious; I am going to kill these little bitches. Having one or two missing brats won't cause any kind of issues for me since I am already wanted. Homrotabi will kill me on the spot if they ever found I'm a goblin, so having a criminal record won't be much of a hassle than it is now.

"Nitch, run!" the second girl screamed, but I won't let them get away easily.

"Come back here! I'll release all of my stress to you and butcher you alive!" I shouted; I'm still in heat, you see, after Fielma spent all of my money, so I am going to release all my hate on these cheeky brats.

However...

Damn, they were faster than they look! Nope, actually, they are now both crying loudly as I actually close the gap between me and them. Now, they realized that they fucked up, absolute regret for pissing me, but I won't let myself be swayed by mercy.

"Nitch, you go left, I'll go right," the second girl tearfully said, and the first girl briefly nods. They separated, but if I have to choose, I will choose to chase the second girl because her smug face pisses me off. The first girl is slow and easy to catch but that might be the reason why the second girl want to be separated away from her. Damn her, sacrificing her friend like that. Traitors like her need to be slain at birth!

"UWWAHHHH! HELP ME! Gwarfen is chasing me!"

"That's right; I'm going to munch on your tendons and use your bones as toothpicks. I'm going to devour your soul and feed on your fear while you scream in pain just like what I did to Ruifia."

But I didn't anticipate that this situation is really what she wanted, I underestimated her!

I didn't know that she was leading me towards a shiny floor surface, and she traversed across the ice by skiing across it while I stumbled on it, putting my butt in a lot of pain. The surface is too slidey!

The girl looked at my pitiful self then smirked; her smug makes me wanna punch her mouth and break all of her teeth!

I tried to run after her.

"Shit, where did she go."

I tried to catch up to her, I really did but I couldn't find her on the alleyway. Shit, I'm at a disadvantage. My enemies are well familiar with the landscape and topology of the battlefield... and I don't know them well enough to predict the devious tactic they have on their sleeve. Chasing after them is a mistake! I bit my lips in shame.

As I walk to exit the intricate alleyway which is unfamiliar to me, suddenly, I heard the voice of the second girl. "Nitch, now!"

It's too late for me to evade; the first girl pointed a green hose towards me, and as she turned the nozzle, high-pressure water began to hurl out towards me. I was pushed by the force, and it dwindled the intensity of my mana circulation... , being wet for a long time actually overwhelmed my mana circulation, and I could feel the cold penetrating under my skin.

It's too cold!

"Haha! You thought you could catch us easily. No, because I am the almighty general of Homorotabi, Fatima! Now, kneel in front of me and beg for mercy."

While I could resist the force of the water, I couldn't breathe; my brain started to be deprived of oxygen, which is why I shouted for them to stop. "S-stop! I lost, okay!"

"Shoot him! Don't let him live."

The two girls continued to shoot water my way, mercilessly and diabolically. The first girl began to contort her face into a weird-looking smile, and then she burst out laughing like a maniac!

SAVE ME FROM THESE TINY DEVILS!!

It's too cold; I thought I was going to freeze to death at that rate, but my plea for help was answered when I heard a familiar voice calling in the distance.

"Nitch, where are you!?" That voice seems to be from Fielma.

The second girl was startled when she heard the voice, "Oh no. We lost track of the time," indeed, it was already nighttime, a time relatively unsafe for young children to play in a very isolated place.

An old woman immediately appeared in sight and called for the girls, "There you are. It's time to go home now," the old woman already had trouble walking on her feet, and she needed Fielma to assist her.

Impossible... This Fielma is actually helping an old lady. What the fuck?

"Fielma..." I mutter as I saw her stupid irritating face again. My blood boils just by looking at her.

"Oh... and who is this child?" the old woman asked.

"D-don't worry. He's my son; he won't bite."

Who the hell is your son!? Well, I am indeed tiny, but who the hell wants you to be their mother!?

"I see... Did my granddaughter cause you trouble?" the granddaughter in question immediately threw the hose away from the old woman's sight. She pursed her lips and swung her body bashfully.

Don't play like your innocent, little brat!

The second girl walked in front of me and crossed her arms, "It seems like you got away this time. But next time, I'll show you no mercy. Remember my name as I am Fatima, the strongest Homorotabi!"

"Bullshit, next time, I'll skin you alive."

She stuck her tongue out and pulled down the skin under an eye, "Bleh."

"Woah, scary. Sempai, I know you're still angry at me, but don't forget that you still have a debt to pay. So don't be too dramatic." Fielma talks nonsense... Me? Having a debt? I don't know anything about that. And if I do, I don't think I will pay her even if she skinned me alive.

But that's not the point here; the sun is already down. The night has begun, and we have nowhere to sleep.

"Idiot, if we have no money, we can't pay for renting a room. Now, think about where we'll sleep! Do you want to sleep outside the cold again?" I complained to her. She wasted our money buying some useless stuff rather than those that are truly important.

"Sempai..." Fielma's eyes lit up...

"Oy... I know what you're thinking, but it's not what you think it is." I warned her; I just want a comfortable place to be secure enough from the Visage. But she smiled smugly like she won a war. I said, it's not what she thinks it is!

"If that's the case, why don't you two sleep in our inn as a token of gratitude for helping me find my granddaughter and playing with her. I will not ask you to pay. It's been already a long time since a human visited our home, so we'll gladly appreciate it if you join us for dinner," the grandma said, the granddaughter hiding on her back and slightly peeking at us.

"Thank you very much!" Fielma smiled widely then looked at me, "See? Being kind to someone and helping them is more valuable than any amount of money."

"Of course, you jest. Money is definitely more valuable because its value is explicit rather than the exchange rate of helping someone, which is too volatile and unstable. Simply put, the value of giving a hand is untrustworthy."

Fielma started looking at me with serious uneasiness, and she chuckled "You're weird."

Ha? You are the one who's weird, spending my money and such.

"I know you are cautious about getting hurt again, sempai. But no matter how painful your past is, how cruel you are betrayed by your friends, you shouldn't deprive yourself about trusting someone again. You said it yourself, didn't you? You want us to have good relationship but what is a relationship without trust?"

"Where the hell is this coming from?"

"Because you know... Even if you are weird and have a bad tongue, I will never betray you. Definitely."
