At the entrance of the mist village, the first thing I first looked at I got was a nasty glance at the guard, staring at me, before noticing the discerning wolf beside me. Who knew Arthur could be such a terrifying figure.
The guard still held that suspicious doubt, nonetheless because of Fyuma who was actually a figure here that’s respected, we were able to pass. The mist village was of course, covered in mist yet I paid no attention to it.
Rather it’s because I rely more on my other senses to locate my enemies rather than my eyesight. The magic ability [Heighten Senses] is a magic ability that’s a high-level general magic. It enhances your other senses including eyes.
It only lasts for a brief moment, but it’s a useful skill. But because I’ve used Heighten Senses too much, it evolved, yes the magic ability somehow evolved turning into [All-Seeing Points] As it says it’s simply Heighten Senses but with other abilities.
Such as seeing through the weak points of the monster or person, and discerning their stats. Although seeing stats are possible with appraisal, it’s just that most people can deflect appraisal, keeping their identity private.
Plus nobody just uses Appraisal out of nowhere to a person, if you did you’ll be considered a pervert and probably get slapped by all women out there. All-Seeing Points can’t be deflected nor be pinpointed, unless somebody has an extreme magic sensitivity, which is a skill.
The main difference between them is Appraisal works like Inspect, covering the object in a thin layer, and that mana will forcefully take information, which is your stats. All-Seeing Points, covers your pupils in mana to forcefully see through them.
The main reason why covering your eyes in mana is risky, is because mana is generally an unpredictable energy, some people have covered their ears in mana in hopes to heighten their ears, but without focus, instead of enhancing your ears, you will be hearing nothing.
Mana is mostly used as an emitter, to emit things. Mana is sensitive to everything around it, even to air which in turn makes them explode when natural mana is just sent out from your body. Which is why formulas exist.
Think of the formula as a bow, and the mana as an arrow. You place the mana in the formula, and the formula does it works which in turn creates spells. Although formulas are simply something that is packed with information.
By using spells you are basically just teaching your mana to do that, and then you can send it out. Of course that includes copying the natural features and capabilities of the elements of the world, which is why you can use fire when using magic and not just an exploding mass of energy.
Formula creation is pretty hard since it basically uses your brain to teach your mana, all comes from the brain. And since creating a formula is so hard to do, those who could create them are called Arcane Sage.
Arcane knowledge is a pretty weird subject to someone like me who has no affinity nor a massive mana pool. I could only use beginner’s magic and general magic.
General magic is magic that everybody can use, even those without affinity since they don’t require a formula, and you may be asking, since mana is such an extremely dangerous energy why the hell general magic doesn’t need formulas!?
General magic isn’t exactly using mana, rather it’s using life force. Life force is an energy that’s hated by others, because it’s basically what it is, using your own energy and stamina, and then by using life force you can create something called Replica Mana.
Which is life force but with the properties of mana. Although life force makes your body too easily tired, and overusing one will lead to your death.
So basically, life force is just mana, but without the sensitivity to anything stuff.
And then I dozed off in my thoughts again, I heard Fyuma’s voice ringing beside me while she continuously slapped my back in hopes of waking me up from my rambling thoughts. “Oi! Krux!”
“Yes… I’m awake now. Anyways, where are we going?” I turned my head right beside her while Fyuma crossed her arms.
“We need to take you to the chief, although you need to leave, we really need to take you to him. Having a beastman child around you is a no-no, so they’ll have to judge you.” She explained while I nodded without much thought.
Using the same reason will be easy, Krus can vouch for me, not only that, Fyuma too.”Right, then when the time comes vouch for me.” I said before my head and eyes retreated back to the main road.

I could see Fyuma nod at the corner of my eyes while we started to walk slowly at where the chief resides. Though in certain areas, people would call these guys mayors, but beastmans just have different cultures.
Different from humans who only worship one god which is Zeus, the god of the skies and thunder, the beastman worships a lot of gods based on where they come from. The mist forest worships the god of speed. While the other area I’ve been to worships the god of hunting.
Fyuma and I finally arrived at the gates of where the chief resides, which is a gigantic tree in the middle of the town. I could already tell this tree was man-made and a hollow one. The tree was unusually large after all.
The roots of said tree seemed to dig upon the ground, reaching the bottom pits of hell while the branches in the sky, seemed to pierce the heavens as if chatting with the gods right above it. Though I wonder what would happen if I cut this tree down?
Bad! Intrusive thoughts!
“You are human, correct?” The man with the beard of a lion, teeth that were sharper than a talon’s claws, and a gigantic body of bulked orc. A beastman, the lion ones. They are unusually prideful as their characteristic, but lion beastmans care more about their family than anybody in the world.
“Correct. The chief requested our audience.”
“I have received the message.” The lion replied to Fyuma with a soft tone, yet he had a nasty glare on me. Pretty normal, the Great War after all stirred so many problems, that it would take a while for most of the civilizations to recover, the chance is there but it’s very low.
Either way, the three races are too stubborn anyways, so they’ll probably thrive through the problems. “Gartus. Do not show hostility to a guest!” This time a voice came out from the side.
“Have you gone crazy, Shakti!? This is a human, they might just attack, we can’t forget the events of the Great War, they took away the life of my fat-!”
“Gartus! You are so stuck up on the events of the Great War that you forget, that it’s already over, it’s done, no more, no fighting, no wars, so would you stop using that entitled excuse as a way to hate on every single other race there is!?” My words exactly, this Shakti beastman must be someone wise.
“Tch!” Gartus didn’t reply, accepting his defeat at the piercing and harsh words of Shakti. The beastman who was now introduced then turned his head right ours.
“I’m Shakti, don’t mind Gartus there, his father died in the Great War.” Shakti introduced himself with a nice smile on his face, I only closed my eyes before gently bowing my head.
“My condolences. Though I do understand his rage.” Shakti’s smile dropped while he suddenly scratched his own cat ears.
“Oh please! Raise your head, we’ll take you to the chief.” Shakti’s smile returned before he raised his hand and placed his palm gently on the gate, he exerted a minimum amount of force and the gates immediately swung wide open.
There on the other side of the gate, stood a man, with blonde hair, a face filled with experience, a nasty scar on his right eye while he stared at us with empty eyes, as if staring at our very souls. Although right now Fyuma was oddly quiet.
“Come in.” The chief’s voice boomed throughout the hollow tree, he ordered while sitting on a wooden chair, his face resting on his palm while he stared at both me and Fyuma, also Krus. Apparently Arthur was not allowed to enter, much to the wolf’s dismay though.
We obeyed the chief’s orders and Fyuma slowly stepped in the room, the smell of a tree filling my nose while I too also stepped in, Krus trailzed slowly right behind me. “This is our guest, chief.” Shakti said before bowing his upper body and moving away to the side.
Although he’s just a chief, this oddly seems like a literal king.
“State your names. Fyuma, you may now leave.” Well, there goes my voucher, either way Krus should be able to do it, if she was ever questioned. But having Fyuma gone would be quite a disaster, they may accuse me of manipulating the child.
My eyes averted to Fyuma, the beastman’s eyes widened for a bit before she only nodded and gave out a calm reply. “Understood.” Although before she left, Fyuma’s eyes directly glanced upon me as if telling me a message.
Though I may have an experienced eye, that stare you gave me was too nasty for me to understand what you mean.
“I’m Krux. This little child is Krus.” I said before kneeling down to the ground and bowing, my face facing the ground while I heard the chief sigh. Krus behind me suddenly widened her eyes in confusion, before she too bowed down.
“Krux…?”
“I’m an orphan. A last name has no value to me. Krus doesn’t have a name, but she insisted on giving her one.” I said with the calmest tone my voice could get, however my tone hasn’t changed at all, it seems as though I speak without emotion at all.
“I see, raise your heads.” I obeyed his order and raised my head, staring upon his figure sitting on the wooden table, before the chief stood up from said chair. “My name is Regolius Fuygharia. The chief of the mist forest.”
I didn’t respond, Krus who was right beside me looked around in silent fear while her lips started to tremble. Then the chief, Regolius, started to approach us, was this normal perhaps?
“This child… there’s no doubt about it-! My daughter!!!” The chief let out a squeal of cry. What? My eyes immediately went wide, that was quite a shocker. My body immediately flinched before I went and stopped my kneeling formation.
The chief then raised its hand and embraced Krus in a warm hug while Regolius was crying tears of happiness, his face filled with the utmost joy. Although Krus who was being embraced by the gigantic body of the chief looked quite perplexed.
“Chief, I know this is a joyful moment, but please…!” Shakti exclaimed before approaching the crying chief who was now squishing Krux. “Chief! The child can not breathe!” Shakti stared in absolute shock at Krus’ purple face, slapping the shoulder of Regolius.
“Ah!” Regolius had finally realized what he was doing, and let go of the child. His face filled with absolute guilt. “I’m very sorry, my daughter! Please forgive your sinful father!:
“Dear lord, this will be a very long day…” I muttered in silence before facepalming, my face sighing in disappointment.
“I see it too.” Shakti right beside me replied while also facepalming…
