Chapter 100- A City Wide Roar!

Chapter 100- A City Wide Roar!

Merely minutes ago, Yani city was surrounded in a cacophony of sounds, most celebrating the end of the elite gladiator league. Even though most of the citizens had not seen the league, news of the events that had occurred spread like wildfire. Now however the city was even louder, this time the sounds were those if panic or fear.

Civilians were rushing back to their homes in an attempt to escape something they could not comprehend. A bestial roar had emanated throughout the city, affecting the whole city. The city turned from a state of celebration to a state of war within minutes.

The beast horde was an event that occurred every ten or so years in Yani City. The exact time of the horde was unknown but the City was aware that certain signs would accompany the horde, with this roar being the first. Thus thr city had a routine for entering a state of emergency.

Anyone who was a teenager or older had experienced the roar before, but the one that had just happened was like nothing any of them had ever experienced.

To ordinary mortals the roar was only extremely loud, but to cultivators it was much more overbearing.

The cultivation bases of every cultivator in Yani City quivered in fear as the roar echoed throughout the land. Many of the weaker cultivators could not handle it and directly fainted, while some became hysterical and started shouting like madmen.

The reason for this was simple. There was a presence within the roar that only cultivators of a certain level could sense. Like how there are sounds of certain frequencies humans can't hear but dogs can.

In this case humans were the dogs, and Bastian was a very special dog.

….

Yani City was in essence a C Rank City but it stood at the very apex of C ranked cities. One could even say that its grandeur could match up to some B rank Cities of the lowest order. It was a coastal city, which primarily survived on free trade and tourism. It was a free city without any allegiance to any country whatsoever. It was run by a mayor, who was elected by a council of elders.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

These elders represented the most powerful families within the City but four families stood above the rest. These were the Dwight family, the York family, the Oxlade family and the Cole Family.

The Dwight family was mostly involved in City management, resulting in them having the greatest number of elders within the council. The current Mayor was also from the Dwight family. The York Family was in control of public security and the Army, due to the fact that the majority of the highest ranking soldiers was either from the family or had pledged allegiance to the family. The Oxlade family, were real estate giants and owned the majority of the inns, taverns and auction houses within the city.

The Cole family had the smallest number of members within the elder's council, but no one in the city would deny that it had the second most terrifying presence within the city. This was due to the fact that, ninety percent of the goods that went in and outside the city, went through their hands. They owned the majority of the ships, caravans, carts and other modes of transport and were essentially the kings of trade.

Unlike the other 3 families, the Cole family had only recently came into power. The other 3 had been in power for many generations and were aristocratic in nature.

At this very moment. An emergency summons for the council of elders had been convened regarding this matter. Anyone who was of importance was making their way to the city hall. It was one of the largest buildings within Yani City and it had a dome like structure. Within the building were the offices of those who ran the city and the hall of elders.

The hall of elders was like a mini stadium, with a large round table placed in the center. The average elders sat in the seats above while the high elders sat on the table. It goes without saying that the high elders had far more authority than the normal elders.

Within minutes of the roar the hall of elders had every elder who could attend the meeting. Normally this room would be filled with noise. After all, elders were politicians, and this was their version of a parliament. Laws would be made or destroyed in this room, depending on the agenda. Yet today was an exception.

The entire room was quiet. The normally vigorous old men and women were as quiet as children who felt guilty. The high elders seated around the table were quiet as well. They were all unhappy with what had occurred, but noe was not the time for sentiment, now was the time for action.

One of the seats on the table was empty, and it just so happened to be the most important seat. The seat which every person in that room either desired to sit on or feared. The seat of the Mayor!

As the Mayor entered the hall, all eyes were in him. Bhasera Dwight! A name that resonated with power within the walls of Yani city. This man had been in charge of this city for as long as most can remember.

He was tall, incredibly muscular and had a thick beard. All of the hair on his head was white, which was synonymous with his old age. But his body radiated a vigour that could put any youth to shame. He was not dying any time soon. Much to the chagrin of many. But he also had another identity, Yani City's strongest cultivator!

In the Sovereign Continent, martial power was everything. The old man had man attained this position through both his wits and his strength. Tyson Cole was not one to bow down easily, but even he had to admit that when the old freak walked in he could not help but shiver. Tyson was also one of the high elders, and so was the head of evey important family in Yani City.

The old man was always dressed in armor despite the fact that he was a city official, adding to his vicious aura. He said down and clapped his hands, gaining everyone's attention.

“Now then, let's begin shall we?”
