Bastian Makes His Move

Bastian Makes His Move

At the moment Unjust Augury: Homeostatic Seal was activated, hundreds of water and fire element cultivators felt a great disturbance in the World Energy around them. Countless skills and spells were disrupted, and the Cole Family Guard took full advantage.

Many had been saving up their mana and qi for just this moment. Releasing their deadliest attacks.

Homeostatic Seal's sudden disturbance caused the enemy to fall into a state of mayhem because many found themselves suppressed and unable to fight. How many energy attacks were used? How many cultivators were stronger than Bastian? Very few!

Many warriors and mages belonging to the 3 great families of Yani City found it hard to even breathe normally.

"Captain, what's wrong?"

"Our formations are collapsing! Water and fire cultivators, what's wrong with you?"

"It's the Word Energy around us, it's gone berserk!"

The Cole Family Guard acted as if they had entered a great frenzy as they hunted down their opponents left, right and centre.

Just this one spell had greatly shifted the battle balance. To make things even worse, they had no clue what spell or skill was doing this and where it came from.

General Moto and his aides observed the battle from the control room with gleeful faces. The reports that were coming in every second were somewhat difficult to believe.

'To think the boy had a weapon this powerful, I underestimated the power of Mark Bearers greatly.'

One by one, many groups of red figures were removed from the battle simulation table, and the rate of removal became worse over time.

The general moved to the table and observed it while stroking his well-maintained beard, 'Fire and water element fighters are being disrupted through some method. Not only does it take them out of the picture, but it weakest the enemy greatly as they are the main attacking force. Once we clear them out we can overwhelm the rest with sheer numbers.'

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

The path to victory was already visibly within the general's eyes. It was a clear path with no impediments. And he liked it that way.

But there was something the general was not aware of. Bastian had no intention of just being an observer.

"Bastian, where are you going?"

Sula shouted at Bastian as she tried to understand his actions. The latter was taking unhurried steps to his destination, the underground hall exit.

"The plan was for you to take actions that would support the general's troops from here, and exit once the battle was over." grumbled an angry Sula.

"Sometimes plans are meant to be ignored. Especially when things are going too well." Bastian felt that things had gone a bit too well and felt a bit uneasy.

'Onismo should not be someone this easy to deal with. We should finish up here quickly and head over to the wall. The longer I leave Vermalaen out there by herself, the greater the risk.'

Bastian was not fond of taking unnecessary risks but he felt as if too much had gone according to plan. His abilities were unique in nature and hard to defend against because the enemy would definitely never have seen such a thing, so there was a possibility that he was being too cautious. Either way, he was not going to lose anything by moving. So long as he was conscious the spell would remain active as it was using the Pocket Dimension as a power source.

"Phantasma, send word to General Moto. Tell him that for the last stage of the battle, he should try to circle the enemy and confine them to a space. Any space is fine, so long as it's big enough to use a large-scale fire spell." ordered Bastian.

"Understood." Phantasma sent word to her sister. She had many sisters she could communicate with attached to key figures in the plan so this was easy for her. Her sister was close to General Moto so he would receive the message quickly.

As the trio travelled down a hall that led to the exit, Phantasma received a reply from the general and relayed the information to Bastian. It was a location and a time.

'The qilin fortune courtyard. Fifteen minutes.'

It was brief, but it was more than enough for Bastian.

As the group followed Bastian, Sula took stock of her surroundings and got more and more horrified by what she was feeling around her. She was no longer under suppression, but she could still feel the berserk fire elements in the air around her.

They were no longer attracted to her and did not suppress her, because Homeostatic Seal did not make all fire elements berserk. Only a portion. But that portion was enough to cause mayhem. It only took a few drops of impurities to make a glass of water unfit to drink. The same applied to World Energy. It could easily be contaminated through unique methods. After being removed from the list of targets she was protected from the berserk elements through means beyond her understanding.

With some walking, they finally arrived at their destination. It was one of the larger courtyards within the compound. It had multiple dead bodies within because an intense battle had taken place.

Although it would be more accurate to call it a massacre. Dozens of corpses littered the ground. To the point that the trio had to kick away corpses multiple times. Blood had soaked the ground while dismembered limbs and headless bodies were strewn throughout the residential hallways.

Bastian was not moved much because of his experience as a slave with V. He had seen many horrific acts done on humans during that time, from rape, to torture to forced consumption of poison. He had seen the cruellest side of humanity. And not to his surprise, that cruelty showed itself most when humanity targeted their own

'Even on Earth people treated pets better than their own race. Our species is doomed at this rate.'

Bastian was not happy about having died, but he found himself appreciating the culture of the Sovereign Continent more and more. He assumed it was because of his ability to adapt and his breadth of mind, yet he failed to realize that his bloodline was already making his personality change. He was becoming more and more cold-blooded.

'Earth countries had lost their way. Allowing humans to do as they please. Resulting in populations being flooded by the unproductive, low birth rates and a high percentage of mental illnesses.'

Bastian came to a conclusion. Humans needed a certain amount of struggle to achieve the best mental state.
