Every ten or so years Yani City would accept a new batch of mercenaries within their city. The unsuspecting mercenaries usually came from far away lands, so they had no clue regarding the tragedies that would befall them from the horde. On the Sovereign Continent, wars were as numerous as the stars in the night sky.
Plenty of cities and countries would rely on mercenaries to deal with the problems that plagued the, with Yani city being no exception. The difference between the weak and strong however became apparent at this point, with the strong cites having strong home grown armies.
Onismo York stood above a pile of daemon corpses. These were some of the birds that had made it over the wall. Onismo had stationed his men just behind the west and north side of the wall just in case the mercenaries were overwhelmed.
The man was adorned in armour from head to toe while his right hand held a large battle axe that was far bigger than what his body should be able to handle. The axe had reaped the lives of most of the birds that had made it past the wall, yet not a single drop of blood had tainted its blade.
Onismo's short, black hair was ruffled by the winds as he was captivated in thought. His free hand supported his chin while his eyes squinted. He was gazing into the distance; looking at something yet staring at nothing. Right now, more than ever his expression seemed like that of a scholarly sage. Yet the aura of blood lust oozing from his person said otherwise. The sharp contrast between his temperament and disposition made those around him feel uncomfortable.
"Tyra!"
"Yes Milord!"
Onismo beckoned one of his trusty lieutenants .
"I want you to gather intel on what happened to the mercenaries. Make sure not to leave out a single detail.
Tyra saluted in response, " Yes Milord! "
As the young scout dashed off into the distance, Onismo's forehead creased in thought.
During the meeting of the Elders, the Cole family had been completely suppressed. So much so that Onismo was sure that they would be forced into a passive position.
Under normal circumstances, the mercenaries were supposed to act as reserve forces. They were not meant to be the first troops to engage the horde. Yet from nowhere Tyson Cole insisted on letting them go first, he even said that his family would pay the mercenaries by themselves.
"This smells fishy."

No matter how Onismo thought about it, this could not be beneficial to the Cole family at all. The mercenaries were an extra army that Tyson could have used to help defend his territory. Yet instead of that, he had them deal with the first wave of attacks from the horde. From what he had gathered, the mercenaries had always believed that their purpose had been to face the horde. Something the Council of Elders had never been informed.
They believed that these troops were just insurance, but it seemed that the sily Tyson had anticipated being screwed over in advance, and had so prepared.
"If they are fighting, does that mean his home defenses are weakened?"
There was no doubt that the mercenaries had experienced immense casualties, which meant that the Cole family had one less line of defence.
"That old fox knows that this horde is the perfect opportunity for us to deal with his family, so why do this..."
Onismo was by nature a man who relied on reasoning. Thus it does not come as a surprise that he would be uncomfortable if his enemy made a seemingly illogical decision.
" Just what is he up to? " Onismo murmured to himself .
Not long after, Tyra arrived and reported her findings. The usually calm Onismo could not help but get shocked.
"To think that the Blind Disaster was actually this strong . Tyson, just what else are you hiding..."
After some contemplation, Onismo sighed.
...
"Is that so?"
At the Dwight Residence, the remaining Fusion Realm experts were getting ready. They would only take action once the two star dragon showed itself. None of them was an expert in under water battle , so they could only take a passive approach.
Currently within the large hall, five experts were gathered.
They were : Bhasera Dwight, Khama Oxlade , Biliat Oxlade, Tanaka York and a mysterious hooded figure.
This hooded figure was the Fusion Realm expert that the Cole family had dispatched to represent them. So far nothing about him had been revealed. The figure did not even speak. All he did was sit in his chair and wait.
All the experts in the room, could not help but scrutinize the expert. There was an air of mystery around him. All they could tell was that he was male, but they could discern nothing else.
The air around his face was rather fuzzy, like the air surrounding a mirage in the dessert, giving him a sort of phantasmal feeling. An unnatural heat permeated from him into the surroundings, while an oddly regal aura exuded from his body, making it difficult to approach him.
He never spoke, no matter what was said to him. All he did was sit there…and wait.
As the strongest cultivator of Yani City, Bhasera had a natural arrogance to him. This arrogance found this 'mysterious' man's presence annoying. But he could not make a move. There was no telling what the man's cultivation was. Among Fusion Realm experts, the gap in cultivation between each sub-level was massive.
Even at the Fusion Realm, it was not a simple matter to discern one's cultivation, especially if they did nothing to reveal it. Not a single trace of energy leaked from the man's body as he quietly sat there, seemingly oblivious to his environment.
Khama's fat face grimaced in disgust at the man's antics, but like Bhasera he took a cautious approach and did nothing.
Tanaka York, Onismo's father, and the former leader of the York family, was quite different from his son. His large muscular body exuded the air of battle. He was currently armored from the neck down, but it did little to hide the scars riddling his body, as they were visible from the few exposed parts of his skin. His shoddy beard and large build made him seem like the pinnacle of masculinity. His piercing gaze and expressionless face made many a man shudder.
He was known for being a battle maniac, the only trait he shared with his son. Except unlike his son, he did not use his mind at all. He was quite brash and got offended easily. More often than not, he would get involved in battles without thinking, thus it goes without saying that he was the first to reach his limit. The entire time he had been seated, sizing up the mysterious figure. Many a time she spoke, only to be treated like air. This went on for a few moments, until he could no longer take it.
Khama's father, Biliat, was no different from a farmer. He dressed in extremely crude robes and had a gentle disposition. Most would think him to be an average old man, but those with a discerning eye would be able to spot the cunning hidden deep within the old man's eye. He was the oldest of everyone there, and he had experienced a lot. So it was not a surprise that he was the first to notice Tanaka reaching his limits. With a simple movement of his eyes, he gestured to his son, who instantly understood the message. This wily duo was up to no good. A plot was afoot!
