Chapter 3

"Magic is divided into several types, such as internal magic, external magic, command magic, and the last one, natural magic. In ancient times, the main types of magic were natural and command magic, until one of the leading wizards from the 7 towers discovered a new type of magic. This mage was given the title of one of the wise wizards, and his name was Grant Tollere. And even now, almost a thousand years later, his name is still remembered."

Nero looked at the excerpt in the basic magic book, acknowledging that there was some information there, although he couldn't argue with that. But this mage's name kept popping up.

He had suspicions, but as soon as he opened the first page to search for the name, he understood what was going on.

The author of this book was Algair Tollere, and even the author's title was written here. He was a so-called first-class aristocrat.

For Nero, it was clear why phrases like "commoners cannot learn this" or similar ones occasionally appeared. There was clearly animosity towards commoners.

After flipping through a few more pages, it turned out to be some kind of author's advertisement. Realizing that he wouldn't learn anything from it, he got up and approached the spot where the book was.

Although Nero had learned that magic is divided into subclasses, he hadn't obtained any other information yet, but it was already clear that magic was not a simple thing.

Placing the book back in its place, he looked around. The library was huge. Before entering this section where he was granted access, he had passed through a portal.

This was the security of this place. Although it seemed like you were simply walking through a door from one room to another, in reality, you were making a micro jump in space.

And these rooms with books indicated that something was hidden either underground or in another dimension. Well, the knowledge of academies is one of the pillars of academies.

Looking at the surroundings, there were high walls with various drawings on them. There were windows, but when he looked outside, he couldn't see anything except something shining inside. And it definitely wasn't the sun because the light didn't emit any warmth.

It was simply illumination. Bookshelves filled the entire room. And in some places, there were reading areas, as well as several rooms with transparent walls.

Although he couldn't hear what others were thinking or saying, he could see what they were doing. Most likely, it was for security purposes.

Scanning the bookshelves, Nero's eyes finally caught another book on basic magic.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Returning to his seat and taking the book with him, he excitedly opened it and began to read.

"Magic is both the most useful and the most dangerous thing in the world..."

The first sentence already had a philosophical tone.

"...with it, you can do many useful things, but every mistake can turn into a catastrophic disaster for you. That's why several things are recommended before this book teaches you magic. If you disagree with the following points, please return the book to its place.

Firstly, do not rush. This is one of the main points, as mixing certain mana particles with unknown properties can result in anything from a minor burn to the severing of limbs or even death. (Don't worry about unfamiliar words, they will be clearly explained during your training.)

Secondly, make sure you clearly understand what you are reading. Magic is primarily about knowledge, and then skill.

Thirdly, you need to possess at least a one-star potential as a mage. Because this world is harsh, and potential means a lot.

If you adhere to all these points, then congratulations, you can become at least a one-star mage. But if you're just browsing the book or want to learn magic without having the potential, proceed at your own risk..."

While reading the first page of this book, Nero was initially excited, but gradually calmed down. This book also emphasized the importance of potential, although he felt a bit disappointed, he still wanted to give it a try.

Reading and immersing himself in the book, he didn't even notice that several hours had passed. His eyes sparkled until a sound came from his stomach.

Snapping out of his concentration, Nero realized his state. Since waking up, he had only eaten a piece of bread. Reluctantly leaving the library, he headed towards the cafeteria.

Along the way, many students could be seen gathering in twos and threes, heading towards the cafeteria. One of Nero's ways of survival was the cafeteria. There, they served free food, although not very filling, it was still better than nothing. When he entered the cafeteria, the first thing he felt was several disdainful glances directed towards him. The others simply ignored him, even though it wasn't lunchtime, many people still frequented the place. On the first floor, there was both paid and free food available. On the second floor, mostly nobles or people with high potential could be found. The academy offered many advantages to those with above-average potential.

Glancing around for a moment, he ignored a few looks and went straight to the food area. Taking his portion, which consisted of something resembling potatoes and some other vegetables, he found a secluded corner and sat down. As he ate, thoughts from the book he had been reading earlier came to mind.

Let's start with the fact that mages have five levels. The first level is Junior Mage, whose destructive power is equivalent to a mage being able to destroy, for example, a large tree or a huge rock. The second level is Intermediate Mage, whose destructive power is equivalent to destroying an entire house, and the third level is Senior Mage, capable of annihilating an area with a diameter of 50 to 100 meters.

All three of these levels refer to destructiveness when using attack-type magic, but a mage's knowledge is not taken into account. However, things change from there. Destructive power increases, but knowledge, mana quantity, and control come into play.

The fourth level is Master Mage, where knowledge, mana, and control far surpass the first three levels. Destructive power depends on the mage's development path. The book did not provide a detailed description, but based on the name, the final level is Supreme.

There was no other explanation besides the name. Further on, there was an explanation about magic, which is divided into four subclasses, or rather, the current magic has four subclasses.

The first is Internal Magic. It is magic that manipulates mana inside the body and releases it. This type of magic is fast but weak in power, with the exception of Senior and Supreme Mages.

The second is External Magic. As the name suggests, it manipulates external mana, but control is extremely difficult while power is very high.

The third type is Command Magic, which is also versatile. It can be prepared in advance, like a magical circle that stores magic which can be activated using magic.

As for the fourth, it is the most mysterious magic, mainly Nature Magic, which encompasses magical phenomena in nature that currently have very little knowledge.

This type of magic is very dangerous and difficult to study.

It is evident that magic in this world is very diverse, and Nero is thrilled about it. The more possibilities there are, the greater his chances of becoming a mage.
