Chapter 3 - Maybe I messed up?

That wasn't too far a walk, Ken thought to himself as he tested some of the limit of his time slowing down ability - he noticed that this healing ability negates his need to breath. In other words, it was painless for Ken to not breath at all. He could've realized this previously - but didn't really focus on it. Ken entered the building that was the main headquarter for Hunter Corporation for this kingdom. The word "Hunter" has been now associated with those that work within the realms of dimensional rift that had opened many, many centuries ago.

As he walks towards the front desk for his appointment, he always was mesmerized by the architects inside. The architecture of the building was always semblance to the history of where it located. Kingdom of Valaria, always beautiful structures to look back on in history, too bad we don't see much of it outside anymore, always keeping those thoughts to himself as he arrived at the front desk.

"I am here to confirm my registration as a hunter and get a ranking test" Ken stated to the person behind the desk.

"Okay, please provide me your confirmation number." The person replied indifferently.

"Here you go" Ken provided the detail.

"Alright, Ken - before you can head to the testing site, please select one of the options below."

Ken was given the direction on the tablet in front of him asking him to whether to share his results publicly simply. To not share it, basically means that no one outside of the Hunter Corporation will be privy to Ken's results until he allows it.

"Do not share results [X]" Ken selected this option.

"You can now head to the testing site." The person behind the desk gestured towards the elevator.

"Thank you" Ken started headed into the elevator and he was lifted to first testing site. Intelligent Exam is first, I prepared for it somewhat - but shouldn't be too bad.

Ken was approached by a flying drone "Ken, please sit at desk A7, this way." Ken was guided to his desk, with a headset. Only saw couple of other test takers. Not busy today, Ken thought.

"Please wear the headset and begin your examination. Your exam will begin when you place the headset and press Start. Your time limit will be 2 hours for this part." The drone provided a brief guide.

Ken sat down, wore the headset, and pressed "Start".

There were 200 hundred questions, he needed to get many as possible as he could. He started seeing the countdown of the timer. He had 18 seconds to answer all the questions, fortunately the exam was multiple-choice. He did what he could - slowed down time to a halt, Ken read the question - he took his time, and then answered the question while resuming it. He repeated for all 200 questions - for him the exam took over 5 hours in the slowed time state, but he took 16 minutes in reality. Some questions he was unable to answer confidently, he used his internal logic, and answered them. The difficulty of the questions he had answering were baked in having background knowledge in theoretical magic, advance robotic ai development topic, to list the few - he didn't have the opportunity to study such advance topics.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

"85 percent." The final display showed to Ken before it turned off and he took off the display. He found the drone awaiting him.

"Ken, for your next destination, I will be escorting you." The drone escorted Ken to the next site.

The drone escorted Ken to the site where they placed multiple floating orbs. "Ken, here they will measure your aptitude by pressing your hand. Please proceed to nearest orb - it will provide you ranking of where you fall."

Ken did as he was instructed, he pressed hand against the Orb.

It took not long before, the aptitude measurement gave him a rank - "G".

That's not good. G - I may be feeling a bit wronged here. My healing ability should, they said it was evolved. Maybe it doesn't recognize it?

The drone approached Ken once more "You have had been given a ranking potential. This is final. The next and final part of the exam will be you fighting against some dimensional monsters. Do your best. Then you will be given your Hunter rank. Follow me."

G rank, just for my healing ability, it didn't catch my time bending ability nor my evolved healing factor. Maybe I messed up? Having two abilities - I guess that's better for me. Good thing I didn't share my results publicly. Imagine. Ken sighed in a little bit of relief as he followed the drone the final exam site.

It was a stadium, enclosed for privacy as he passed through the double door.

"Good luck." The drone stated as the door closed behind Ken leaving him alone in the stadium.

"Please be prepared - you will be measured against how many dimensional monsters you kill and until either you get knocked out - or forfeit. You will be evaluated based on your performance. Again, all of this is holographic, so don't be too afraid to get hurt."

I guess this is it. Time to prove them wrong.

The first monster spawned; it was a giant snake. It rushed neared to Ken before trying to attack. He slowed down time to halt, and he punched towards snake.

WARNING: Your intention will result in critical force to be release that will destroy your planet. Do you want to override your critical force and make it null?

Ken head burned. Yes. I don't want to destroy the planet, he responded.

Time resumed, him being distracted momentarily, he got snagged by the snake and thrown. The exam halted.

"Your ranking assessment is completed. Please look at the monitor for your ranking."

Ken patted himself down and went towards the monitor expecting worse.

Oh no, got a H rank. Brother, maybe I messed up? Ken sweated at his rank, the lowest rank.
