Outside of the town walls, the party now consisting of 4 people, made their way through the forest, in order to reach the location of their quest.
Getting further and further into the forest, Alex ended up being the one who broke the silence.
"Excuse me for asking this late, but what type of magic do you have affinity for Thita?"
Hearing his question, Leslie also spoke with a curious tone.
"Oh right! I also do have the same question. I am a bit knowledgeable in magic myself, so maybe I can help you after the quest to learn how to use it."
Hearing both of them, Thita decided not to hide it and answer with honesty. There was nothing to lose with sharing and maybe he could receive some help in exchange hopefully.
"I don't really know what type of magic I can use to be honest. When I was tested, the crystal that I had to touch, ended up turning purple. I am not sure what this means and even the staff of the adventurer's guild couldn't tell. All I know, is that I am a D rank in terms of magic."
Hearing him, a thoughtful expression took over Leslie's face.
"Purple huh? I also have no idea what this means. Maybe you have an affinity in a unique type of magic."
"Unique type of magic?"
Alex asked with a surprised face.
"Yeah, there are mages who can use extremely rare types of magic. Also, most of these affinities are extremely powerful and they can surprise their opponents, since they don't know what their enemy is capable of. In exchange though, most of them are extremely hard to learn, since you can rarely find someone to teach you how to use them."
Hearing her, Thita decided to ask just in case.
"So, how do they learn how to use it without a teacher?"
Hearing the question, Leslie responded casually.
"Well, most types of magic tend to share similarities with other types. So, you can just learn how similar types of magic works and try to mimic them with your own. At least, that's what I have read in a book, written by a famous magic teacher."
'I see. That would be troublesome then.'

No moment after Leslie finished her sentence, she ended up hitting on Paul's back, who has stopped walking for some reason.
"What the heck Paul! Why did you stop all of a sudden!?"
Hearing her complains, Paul responded with a serious tone.
"We are surrounded."
"What!?"
"The wolves. They have surrounded us."
"When? Wait, how can you tell!?"
Hearing Leslie's questions, Paul responded with seriousness.
"We have been too reckless. While you three were talking, the wolves ended up surrounding us. I should have warned you before but now it is too late. We are surrounded. Everyone! Battle formation now!"
No moment after Paul shouted, wolf like figures started emerging from behind the trees. In no time, no more than 20 wolves ended up appearing all around them.
They were smaller than those Thita knew about but no less deadly. Saliva was dropping from their open mouths and their sharp teeth were shown as a way to warn the prey about how deadly they were.
The wolves weren't the only ones who moved though. The party had already moved to their battle formation, with Leslie in the middle and Alex with Paul facing the sides with the most wolves. Thita too, got in his position, ready to defend from a side with less but still a huge number of them.
As if both opposing sides had came to an agreement beforehand, both of them began moving at the exact same time, ready to tear their enemies apart.
Launching towards them the wolves started attacking Paul and Alex with fury in their eyes, ready to defend their territory from unwanted intruders.
In order to respond, Alex and Paul took out their swords and started defending their attacks with skillful swordmanship. Being torn by their fangs was inevitable, due the large number of opponents. That didn't stop them though from claiming the lives of as many wolves as they could in the process.
The moment one of the wolves made a mistake, it paid by getting extremely injured or even with it's life. Even though they were more, they were loosing.
Leslie like then, also had an important role. Every time one of them got injured, she began using healing magic in order to heal their injuries.
That too was dangerous in its own way, since she needed to touch or at least be close to the injury that the person sustained, in order for her to heal it, which was extremely hard in the middle of a battle. She still managed though.
On the other hand, Thita had to fight his own share of wolves as well. Grabbing his pocket knife, he waited patiently for the opponent to attack. He needed the opponent to get close in order to use such a short ranged weapon after all.
He didn't had to wait for long though, since no less than a second before the others got attacked, one of the wolves launched at him.
With a skillful maneuver, Thita moved aside from the launching wolf and quickly stabbed him with his knife on one of it's sides. Moving his body against the wolf's direction, he moved his hand with the knife, slicing as much of the opponents body as he could before it landed.
His strategy ended up working, since the wolf landed on the ground like a ragdoll with blood flowing like a river from his side.
Even though he won, Thita still had four more to defeat. That didn't stopped him from getting confused right after his first kill.
'That wolf, his bones were far to weak. It's like they didn't give any resistance at all. Are all the animals in this world like that?'
That thought though, ended up costing him severely, since the wolves got the opportunity and surrounded him.
'That, might be a bit troublesome...'
