Join my sect

The Hundred Sect recruitment, an event that occurs only once in ten years where various sects arrive to recruit disciples from the great Flame Empire

there were many spirit boats carriage and other vessels landing on the martial arts field. Vigorous and powerful sect banners were hung on them.

“Esteemed Immortal, please look at my son! He’s only nine but already can sense qi!” a father shouted, practically pushing his son forward.

“My daughter’s wisdom is far beyond her years! A true prodigy!” another parent cried, clutching a nervous girl’s shoulders.

One mother raised her arms, holding a toddler. “Look at my son, Immortal! He’s so young, yet so promising!”

“Please, Immortal, have a look at my nephew! He trains day and night!”

With loud desperate pleas several families surged forward, each jostling to gain the attention of the immortals who descend from the clouds

The “Immortals”, however, barely spared a glance at the pleading mortals, scanning the crowd with mild boredom.

Li Mei stood at the far end, leaning against a post, observing the scene with open disdain.

“Mortals” she snorted “They make so much fuss for a cheap trick like that “

Suddenly, one of the immortals, a young man from the Jade Mountain Sect, glanced in her direction. He held a small, jade-colored orb, muttering a few words as he directed its energy toward her.

The orb pulsed faintly, then dulled. His brow furrowed in confusion for a moment before his expression became thoughtful

“You, girl!” He waved his hand in a motion to clear the crowd around her using Qi “Step forward.”

“Wait! Immortal, my son is here! Right here!” A man waved frantically, his face eager. “A born fighter, I swear!”

“Please, Immortal! Don’t pass over my son!”

“Immortal, what about my daughter? She’s an absolute prodigy, I swear!”

“Master, please look at me!” the boy shouted, his family eagerly echoing his cries.

But the immortal only moved toward Li Mei, his eyes narrowing. “You there, girl!” he called out. “What’s your name?”

‘At least these immortal recognise my greatness ‘ Li Mei smile within herself of course who else but a fellow daoist can understand the power she holds

She stood and spoke keeping her tone formal. “This girl’s name is Li Mei.”

The crowd fell silent, eyes widening as they noticed the immortal’s interest in a mere beggar.

“Did… did he just choose that beggar?”

“A filthy beggar? Why her?”

The immortal ignored the murmurs, his focus entirely on Li Mei. He held the orb closer to her, his curiosity growing. “Your spiritual energy is… unusual. Hold still,” he said, waving the orb in a circular motion.

The orb pulsed faintly, then dulled again. The immortal’s expression shifted from interest to irritation as he realized the reason. “No root,” he muttered, loud enough for Li Mei to hear.

“Such a waste of energy.”He scoffed, turning away

“W...wait hold on !!! Don’t you find it strange that my body has spiritual energy without a root” Li Mei yelled

Honestly she had forgotten about the whole spiritual root after all she did not require one to cultivate unfortunately most immortal sects recruitment is based on the quality of roots

“Hmmm you can have some value as a furnace for my ....ahhhhh”

“Die you pervert!!!” Li Mei kicked the pervert idiot into a ship before turning away in disgust

How dare he imply that the great saintess like her become a common whore!! how preposterous !! She doesn’t need him there are other sects who will appreciate her talents

---------------------———————————-----------------------———————————--

Unfortunately reality was very harsh

“Worthless”

“Forget it who will waste time on a rootless person like you”

“No roots !! what trash !”

Li Mei was ruthlessly rejected from 49 sects

“How the @*#35 is this the Hundred Sect recruitment? It’s simply a bunch of ignorant idiots! “ Li Mei yelled at the heavens

Not even one of those useless immortal can even have the sense to wonder how a girl can even cultivate without a root

“That they definitely are ” the heavens replied surprising her

“Do you find my plight funny ?”

“Yes”

“How shameless you...you whoever you are don’t you dare think that you can get away with this I am the great lighting saintess even if I have been weakened I will still...”

“(Chough) I will apologize if I offended you but would you like to join my sect ?” the heavens replied

It was at that moment that Li Mei realised that someone was standing behind her

The man was rather a boy only 15 years old and dressed in a lavish red and gold silk robe and holding a silver fan in one hand

He had a pretty face a dignified aura and looked like one of those noble scholars in mortal courts

He was a cultivator at the peak of Qi layering from the looks of it but Li Mei would be blind to not not the overwhelming aura of the spiritual treasures on him

His dress ,his fan,his rings even his shoes were high quality spiritual items

Li Mei instantly realised that he must be the son or a close relation of a powerful cultivator because how else would a Qi layering cultivator even get such high level spiritual treasures

“I am not interested!”

“W-wait why (chough) I mean it’s good that you don’t blindly listen to some strangers but I definitely wish for a talented person like you to join us trust me I am not some sort of evil demonic cultivator trying to eat you!!” the boy replied

“...” Li Mei decided that this guy was too stupid to be a con man

It should be noted that this person is Wu Bin, a young man with a system (courtesy of the Gamer), who had ended up getting transferred to this world

His system was the big spender boss system! His work is to waste/spend a lot of money, resources and other values to create negative feelings in living beings and collect them as points (basically a rich showoff whose goal is to piss off people )

His current quest create a big scene in the recruitment process and flaunt his wealth

A poor beggar girl with no roots was the best way to show off his poweress to everyone by making her a part of his sect

“Look a immortal want that rootless beggar in his sect !”

“Is he insane?” someone sneered. “A waste like her?”

Wu Bin ignored them, casually waving his hands as a bowl of pure vitality water appeared out of thin air and levitated Li Mei’s face “Wash your hands before you touch anything,” he instructed.

A collective gasp spread through the crowd.

“Is that... vitality water?” a young disciple from a nearby sect asked, his face pale with shock. “Just to wash her hands?”

“Vitality water… just to wash her hands?” one elder sputtered, clutching his chest as if he’d die of a heart attack.

A disciple next to him stared, mouth agape. “I’ve never even seen it in my life. They say even sect master could barely get a few drops!”

“Does he not know people would kill for that?” a woman from the Crimson Lotus Sect cursed her fingers twitching as if she were tempted to seize the bowl herself. “just who in the heavens is this person!”

Li Mei dipped her hands in the bowl, unfazed by the crowd’s reactions. She didn’t bother to look impressed as she cleaned her fingers, then wiped them dry with the silk cloth Wu Bin offered.

Wu Bin barely looked their way. With a flick of his wrist, he summoned a tray laden with rare fruits—Verdant Moon Apples, Scarlet Phoenix Peaches, and Azure Star Grapes. Each piece glowed faintly, brimming with energy, and cultivators in the crowd clenched their fists in frustration and at the sheer unbelievable stupidity of the rich brat

“Unbelievable…” a sect leader muttered, rubbing his temples in dismay. “The waste! All on her?”

Wu Bin held a fruit out to Li Mei, an expectant smile on his face. She took it without a word, biting into it as if it were a common pear. Her expression remained neutral, chewing slowly, more focused on the taste than on Wu Bin’s show of wealth.

Wu Bin’s brow twitched, clearly irritated by her indifference. “You must be honored to dine on such delicacies, yes?” he prompted.

Li Mei glanced at him, unimpressed. She finished the fruit and picked up another. “It’s edible,” she replied, taking another bite.

The crowd nearly exploded. “Is she mad?” one man sputtered. “That’s the Verdant Moon Apple! Just one fruit can expel expel harmful toxins and improve the Dantian!”

That’s a Scarlet Phoenix One bite can extend life!aaaarrggg!”

“What is this girl made of?” a disciple hissed to his friend. “She doesn’t even care!”

An elder shook his head in pity. “An utter waste. Those fruits should be going to real talents!”

Ignoring them, Wu Bin summoned a grand designed spiritual ship, its body carved with jade and gold, exuding spiritual energy that shimmered in the daylight. He gestured grandly for her to board.

“A ship of Luminous Jade?” someone stammered, stunned. “How does he even afford such a treasure?”

“Madness,” an elder muttered, grinding his teeth. “The boy’s nothing but a spoiled brat flaunting his wealth.”

“There, a ship worthy of your presence,” Wu Bin announced, clearly waiting for a reaction.

Li Mei took another bite and gave him a sideways glance. “We’re using that? Seems like a lot of noise just to go somewhere,” she muttered, boarding the ship without a second thought.

“What the hell !? “ Wu Bin’s hand tightened on his fan, as he felt like spitting out blood this little beggar is her mind alright ? doesn’t she know the meaning of gratitude?

---------------------———————————-----------------------———————————--

“So,what do you think of your senior brother?” Wu Bin asked as they sailed away hoping she will say ‘ohh brother you are so rich and great ‘

“You’re wasteful,” she replied flatly. “I pity our sect master, who’ll have to deal with the costs.”

“...” Wu Bin for the first time met his match
