* Chapter 25.4 – The Dungeon Ⅳ

In the following days that turn into weeks, Izo is busy delegating as she just prepares to be taken away at a moment’s notice. Once more her dungeon exploration was canceled and Izo once more remained sadly out of shape. Though at least active in running and doing daily exercise, Izo knew she needed to just have a good battle.

Finally, Izo thought of something. Didn’t she know someone who just happened to be an S-Class adventurer around? With that in mind, Izo corners James and pointedly asks him to meet her in the dungeon the following day. James unhappily agreed as Jane, his lovely wife, promised Izo that James would show up for work tomorrow evening if it was going to be a Saturday.

Jane was most displeased by the fact that James left most of his work to the Sky Temple Knights, (Aka the former Sky Knights order). And an angry wife made for a bad day as Jane wasn’t marrying James for his money, but his dedication and hard work. And James was not about to let Jane’s dreams down.

Izo happily got off of the phone as she glances at the paperwork on her desk. Sighing, Izo glances up as Flora Fauna and Thomas Vladimir enter her office. Izo notices the pink subtle atmosphere surrounding them and sighs even more. Workplace romances are always frowned upon because if the romance ended badly, everyone always ends up being affected.

Flora happily says, “Sales are at an all-time high as is our cooperation with the government and the rest of the groups. The auction house association partners are quite pleased and commend you for your hard work. As usual potion sales are our largest product, and more than a few groups have approached as vendor outlets. Miss Reed’s partners are currently handling the negotiations, but they are curious if Miss Reed is trying to avoid dealing with anyone?”

Izo frowns and says, “Like?”

Flora delicately coughs and says, “Such as the Brisbane Family.”

“I have no problem dealing with them as long as they produce results,” Izo calmly reiterated.

Flora jots down Miss Reed’s reply as Izo quietly adds, “I do not mind the two of dating, but I will be promoting Miss Katz as a part-time manager to act as your intermediary should things end badly. I hope that two of you understand that I am not condoning your relationship, I simply wish to be prepared just in case.”

Flora flushes in embarrassment as Thomas firmly says, “It won’t be a problem, Miss Reed.”

“I should hope so,” Izo drily replied as the two of them turn to go out. “And Mr. Vladimir, should you hurt Miss Fauna in any way, I will take it most badly and I can be evil,” Izo coldly added for emphasis causing Thomas to shiver and hastily make his escape.

Izo sighs as she is about to go to work, when her secretary, Mr. Roly-poly, a tree nymph calls on the office intercom and says, “Miss Reed, there are two rather anxious young men here to see you without an appointment.”

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

Izo frowns, but can’t imagine, who could it be asking to see her? “Just send them away,” Izo replied into the intercom, before getting back to work.

“Um, Miss, I’ve turned them away for over a week now, they say, they won’t go until they speak with you,” Mr. Roly-poly nervously stated.

“Fine, just send them in,” Izo tiredly said as she leaned back in her seat.

Moment’s later two men burst in as Izo frowns at their known appearances, the one with dark hair and gray eyes was Eric and the redhead with green eyes is the one and only Kendall. Rubbing her tired eyes, Izo sees her secretary a man with green skin, brown eyes and black hair nod apologetically at her. Izo smiles thinly at Mr. Roly-poly as her secretary closes the door to her office.

“To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit today?” Izo drily stated.

“What did you do to Mary Sue?!” Kendall roared.

Izo narrows her eyes and flatly says, “Control yourself, Kendall or I’ll see you thrown out. It would seem you have forgotten to whom you are speaking to and in whose office, you’re currently in.”

Eric grabs Kendall by the shoulder and says, “My apologies Miss Reed, but we are just rather worried about Mary Sue. After the Emerald Ball, Mary Sue simply disappeared from the face of the earth. We’ve contacted her parents, friends, and Alexander, but there has been no sighting of her.”

Izo leans back and says, “And what makes you think I had anything to do with her disappearance? Was Mary Sue annoying, yes, but I wouldn’t kill her for that? I would just ignore her as is the common action. Besides, what makes you think that she isn’t running away from you two?”

The two well-dressed young men appear startled by Izo’s declaration as Kendall narrows his eyes and growls, “And what is that supposed to mean?”

Izo smiles icily at them and says, “Unlike most people, I grow up in a very different world from my twin sister, Izo Lee. I know exactly how dark the hearts of man can be. And the hearts of you two are quite dark after all.”

Eric carefully asks, “Please explain in detail, Miss Reed, we fail to understand your meaning.”

Izo snorts and says, “Oh, you know exactly what I mean. Wasn’t it the plan of the two of you, now that know that Alexander Brisbane was out of the picture, that both of you would have Mary Sue all to yourselves?”

The two young men stiffen as Izo continues, “Oh, yes, I know all about your dirty little plot. But I’m not the only one that knew of your intentions, there are others that were aware. And just maybe, they took pity upon Mary Sue at seeing such a terrible fate that was about to befall her and helped her escape before that horrible event transpired. But who knows and frankly, I don’t care. And if that is all gentlemen, quietly eave my office and cease to pester me, before I have a chat with Mr. Noir, my personal attorney.”

Eric quietly nods his head in assent as Kendall opens and closes his mouth unable to speak. “Our apologies Miss Reed, we shan’t trouble you again,” Eric muttered knowing that they would not get another word out of Izo Reed. Without a further word, Eric drags Kendall away and close the door behind them.

Izo narrows her eyes and murmurs to herself, “Mary Sue, that name just keeps cropping up. It would appear I will have to take care of that woman in the future again lest I break my promise to the other Izo, how annoying. But I suppose this time around I will have to take a more violent and perhaps, permanent approach.” And with that, Izo diligently gets back to work lest the devil comes a ’calling.
