Interlude - Mother Winter & Morrigan
“You like him.” Morrigan commented, stating more of a fact than a question.
“Bah!” Mother Winter spat.
“You cannot lie to me sister.” Morrigan pushed.
“Fine! Yes, I like him. There is something about him. He is missing a part of himself. This makes it hard to know for sure if he is the Huntsman, but the very nature of the Earl King was being multifaceted. If it was so easy we would have found him long ago.” Mother Winter answered.
“Ha! So many names for the same person. Three names, for three roles. Ah well. It would have been best if we knew for certain, but such is the way of things sometimes. Your daughter is going to be a problem. It is only a matter of time before she learns of him.” Morrigan commented.
Mother Winter turned to her oldest friend and sister. “You like him too. You would not have introduced yourself and helped me with his geas.”

Morrigan gave her a mock look of surprise.
Mother Winter shook her head. “Do not think I did not notice your subtle nudges of the weave. He is a dragon; they are not exactly fond of us… especially since our friend’s death.”
“I miss Father Time too. I wish he were still among us. If Deathwalker can find the rest of Chronos’ power, he can halt his unraveling, but you saw what I did in the Weave… we will have to help him when the time comes.” Morrigan replied.
Seeing Mother Winter deep in thought, Morrigan decided to prompt her sister. “Your thoughts?”
“He is the Huntsman, but he is missing part of himself. Compassion and most of those annoying feelings are fragmented and incomplete within him. He cannot be left that way. As much as I detest emotions, he will need his mind, soul, and body intact for what is to come. My daughter will try to keep him without emotion, in some ways I do not blame her, but...” Mother Winter began to say but paused in her musings.
“But… that would be a betrayal and not in his or our best interest.” Morrigan finished.
Mother Winter was not looking at her and appeared to be rather distracted.
“You are up to something sister.” Morrigan said.
Knowing she could not keep anything from her sister, Mother Winter spoke up. “Yes. Do you remember that dragon we sensed?”
“Aye. What about him?” Morrigan asked then realized what her sister was up to. “You got one of the winter fey to influence the direction the dragon was headed in. I thought you seemed distracted lately.”
Mother Winter smiled back at her sister. “A blizzard and other random acts to subtly change the dragon’s direction. He should be near Timberfall soon enough.”
“Diabolical! I love it!” Morrigan chuckled.
