The moment the gate breaks the undead pours in like a swarm of ants, climbing over each other to reach the living. The ones closest to the gate dies in an instant, overrun by undead. It's a massacre. Guts are spilling out on the floor and the dying screams of the soldiers sends chills down my spine.
Cold sweat pours down my back and it feels like my heart will jump out of my chest. I subconsciously take a step back. A large hand lands on my shoulder, causing me to flinch.
"Mistress, I know you're scared but worry not, I am here for you and so are Morgana. Please trust us" Rowan says with a surprisingly soft voice. I didn't know he could sound like that but it gives me courage. I nod and ready myself. This is not the time to doubt. I need to be strong.
In the corner of my eye I see Philomena coating her arms in flames and with a stern expression on her face. So even she can be this serious.
The undead is coming closer and closer and the people around me start to move forward. I stay where I am, knowing that I won't be any good in close combat. Rowan stay with me in case any of the undead get to close.
I start firing spells and I immediately notice how easier it is with the grimoire. The spells are a loot smoother and concentrated and I just have to think about the spell to activate it.
In the midst of battle I spot Philomena, dancing around like an eternal flame, burning down all her enemies. If one were to ignore all the dead around her then it would be like looking at a painting. A gruesomely beautiful painting.
The smell of rotting corpses, blood and burning flesh makes me want to vomit but I hold it in. Be strong, be strong...
I cast heal on injured soldiers and try to hold off the undead by creating a mana dome in front of the gate, keeping more undead from getting in. But I'm afraid that I won't be able to hold them out for much longer.
"Come on men! We can do this!" one of the soldiers shout. Others shout in response. Suddenly the ground starts to crack. At first it's just barely noticeable but after just a few seconds the ground start to split. A few are lucky enough to notice in time but most weren't. The crack grows until it swallows everything in it's path, undead and living alive.
Then IT emerges from the crack. IT looks around, scanning it's surroundings. IT lets out a terrifying scream, enough to make a grown man cry.
IT is a five meter tall humanoid monster with sickly pale skin covering it's entire body except for it's mouth, revealing sharp jagged teeth. It's thin arms are reaching down to the ground but I don't doubt for a minute that it could break my spine with a single hit.

HHhnngg! No! I don't like it! I don't like it at all! It's scary! Make it go away! This guy is only problem. Corpse Eater? Butcher? Gluttony? That's a bad combination. We need to take him out and that is quick.
"Rowan" I say calmly.
"Yes mistress?" he responds, appearing at my side instantly.
"Let's kill that thing".
"Of course!".... Don't sound so happy about it.
Rowan charges at the corpse eater to distract it while I summon a specter. I have never done this before but hey, there's a first time for everything.
A sigil suddenly appears on the ground in front of me, giving of a blue pulsating light. From the sigil emerges a half-transparent humanoid figure. It does not have any facial features nor can I see if it's a man or a woman.
"Your orders master" the specter suddenly says. It's voice is monotone yet polite.
"Protect me from enemies while I try to kill that monster" I say, pointing at the corpse eater.
"As you command" the specter simply replies.
Rowan easily evades all the monster's attacks and lands hit after hit. But overtime he does the wounds immediately heals.
I try firing a fireball at the monster, causing it to start burning. It screams but it doesn't seem to take much damage from the fire. Does it have immunity to fire, just like me? Annoying.
"Rowan, try decapitating it!"
"Yes mistress!" Rowan shout back. Rowan jumps up in the air and lands on the corpse eaters back causing it to fall forward. Seeing the opportunity Rowan swings his sword, separating the monster's head from it's shoulders. Black blood pours from the wound. Now how about that? Will you stay dead?
As if answering my question the decapitated body start to twitch and the black blood start bubbling. Suddenly the monster stands up and reaches for it's head.
"Oh no you don't" I say and use fire step to nearly instantly reach the creatures head. The mouth is opening and closing, as if it's trying to talk and even thou it doesn't have any eyes it feels like it's staring at me.
Just like Rowan did earlier, I jump up into the air and before I land on the head I activate Quake Stomp, smashing the head into smithereens.
That. Was. Gross. I really shouldn't have done that. How do one wash off blood and brain matter from clothes? Huh? The body is no longer moving. Ah, so when you destroy the brain it dies, like a regular zombie yes? So you can't just decapitate it cause the brain will still send signals to the body somehow. Good to know.
"Amazing mistress! Too figure out it's weakness so fast! As expected of mistress!" Rowan energetically comments.
"Thank you, I couldn't have made it without you Rowan. But the battle is not won yet. There's still plenty of undead left".
"Ah, of course! I'm sorry mistress for my incompetence" Rowan says while bowing.
"There's no need to apologize but when should resume fighting now. Talking like this on a battlefield is kinda weird".
"As you wish mistress. Let's fight gloriously together!"... Again, what's with that attitude? I hope he's not becoming a battle freak.
Suddenly a cracking sound can be heard. Ah, it's the mana dome I created! It must have finally shattered! Oh wait, it cracked? Crap.
I turn my head towards the former gate and I see another wave of zombies swarming in, with corpse eaters coming along with them. This is bad. I will have to bring out everything I have. It's about to go down.
