New World Order - Chapter 31: Evelyn

Beatrice opened her eyes and woke up, in front of her eyes was a familiar ceiling. This is her room, not the shrine. But why is she here? Who brought her back to this room? And more importantly, has she passed the trial?

Beatrice coughed, trying to move but couldn't. Her body seemed to disintegrate into pieces, even Beatrice's fingers could not lift. Evelyn now heard the movement from Beatrice, immediately walked over to her, enthusiastically asked:

"How are you?"

Beatrice moved her lips but could not answer, Evelyn quickly put her hand to her lips and said:

“You don't have to try to answer. Nod if fine, shake if not.”

Hearing that, Beatrice immediately shook her head with all her might, even if it was only a slight movement. She didn't feel well. Beatrice felt like a traveler on a voyage to a continent across the ocean. The body kept feeling lightheaded, sick, wanted to vomit but couldn't. Evelyn took a clean towel and dipped it in a basin of hot water, wringed it out, and wiped the sweat from her forehead. Evelyn is not Swift. She was the granddaughter of Scholar Alvar. However, her trust made Evelyn tacitly recognised as a member of the lord's family.

Evelyn wrung the towel a second time, continuing to wipe herself for Beatrice. As she did, she explained:

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

“If you want to know if you have completed the challenge, then you have. It's just that I won't be able to leave your room for a few days."

Evelyn graciously took care of Beatrice little by little. To her, Beatrice was like a sister she couldn't have. The two played together as children. It's funny to think that two siblings like Beatrice and Damiana hate each other openly, and Evelyn is the bridge between the two. Damiana wanted Evelyn to be her real sister, and Beatrice wanted the same.

“The lord has not slept all night. He just waited until dawn. The lady too, she was the one who helped put me back on so the lord could take me home.”

That was what Beatrice loved most about Evelyn. Not everyone can read eyes like her. She answered all of Beatrice's questions without her having to speak. Her heart seemed to be relieved. The pain of illness at this time is nothing to her even knowing that there are many people around to worry about. There was probably only one person who expected her to get much worse, or not survive. Only one person!

Evelyn looked at Beatrice, with a sincere smile on her lips, and said softly:

“You have to get well soon, promise me."

Beatrice managed a smile in response. Although she couldn't tell it was a smile, the wrinkles in Beatrice's eyes proved it. Evelyn is right, she has to recover quickly. She can't give that person satisfaction. But, even thinking that, Beatrice still hoped that Damiana would one day be able to become a good sister. Because, deep down, and to the very end, they both share the same blood, and that will never change.
