New World Order - Chapter 28: Second Daughter

Damiana rode her white horse as fast as she could to the Whispering Woods in the north of the castle. Damiana with an angry and disgruntled expression stopped the horse in front of a frozen lake. She jumped down, immediately grabbed a nearby rock and threw it on the ice. The rock didn't have enough weight to break the ice, just bounced and slid across the surface. Damiana was so upset that she burst into tears. As if suppressed for a long time, Damiana sat down on the ground, letting her beautiful outfit get dirty. But what made her so angry at her sister's most important ceremony?

The sound of horses' footsteps on gravel came from behind, causing Dami to turn around to look. The face is so familiar and so dear. As soon as the man got off the horse, the girl ran to him like a child sees her parents. Dami jumped on top of the man, giving him a deep but heavy kiss. The man didn't push her away either, instead enjoying the kiss. It took a moment for her to let go of his lips. Dami touched both sides of his face with both hands and said:

“Uncle Talbot, why are you here?”

Talbot smiled warmly and said:

"I came to take you home to Beatrice's ceremony."

Upon hearing the mention of Beatrice's name, Damiana immediately reverted to an exasperated expression. She frowned, immediately letting go of Talbot, turning her back to him. Talbot could sense Damiana's rage through her clenched fists. Her upper body trembled, Dami turned around with a tear-stained face, shouting:

“I will not participate! I don't want to be there!"

“Dami…”, Talbot replied only in a soft voice despite her heavy words. "You can't do that."

"Why not?" he said annoyed. “Why should I be there to congratulate Beatrice on becoming lord of Ubberst?”

"But she hasn't become yet, has she?"

“Not now, but she will forever be there! I'll always be second!"

Damiana couldn't hold it anymore and burst into tears. Talbot sighed, walking over to hug her. Dami continued to cry.

“I always lost to Beatrice. My parents just love her because Beatrice is prettier than me, better at fighting than me. And this Dami is just a weak girl who only knows how to embroider…”

Talbot calmly stroked its hair, reassuringly:

"You are always the one who I like the most. You have a point of your own that Beatrice never had.”

Surprised, she stopped crying and looked up at Talbot:

"What's the point?"

Talbot smiled softly and replied:

“Quality. You have the qualities of a lady. Beatrice may be the first born, may have more status than you, but she will never be as assertive as you."

"Really?"

"Do you believe me?" Talbot asked.

Damian silently looked at Talbot as if thinking about something. Then it slowly approached him, once again giving him a passionate kiss.

“Do you know how much I love you?” she looked at Talbot with dark eyes.

"How could I not notice?" Talbot smiled.

“Do you love me?”

Talbot was silent for a moment, then smiled, ran his finger over her plump lips, and said:

"Always."

Damiana smiled happily, as if she was just waiting. Immediately, Damiana jumped on the horse, and Talbot followed. The two steered their horses to turn their heads towards Staflake. Damiana turned her head to look at Talbot behind, then her gaze turned to where the horns and flags fluttered in the distance, and said firmly:

"Let's go! I don't want Beatrice to think she won."
