Chapter 4 - Recalibration

Chapter 4 - Recalibration

“You’re pathetic. Come back to me when you have the slightest amount skill because right now... I wish I didn’t even spend a breath on a weakling like you” The man said. Xiang blinks, but that makes the man vanish. Xiang was spared.

“What the hell,” Xiang groaned from an almost dying breath. Xiang forcefully drags himself to the nearest city in hopes he can find help. Xiang pants heavily, the air is thick. As he continues crawling and collapsing every few seconds, he hears a growl. He saw a vicious dog. Princess Cupcake. Xiang cowers in fear, covering his face and closing his eyes, as Princess Cupcake once again runs towards him. Nothing. Nothing happens. Xiang opened his eyes, and there wasn’t a dog. His PTSD recalled the final moments on Earth, luckily for him, there was no threat in sight. Xiang, on his knees, looks up and catches a glimpse of the city. A beautiful yet technologically advanced city awaited in front of him. The blood from his fight starts to drip down towards his eyes, so he wipes it and gasps in awe at the city. It looked wonderous, but he couldn’t help but feel like he’s seen it before.

Finally making it to the city, he looks around. The city is bustling with activity, with people going about their lives. The tall buildings and abundance of wildlife would truly impress anyone. As he walks about the main street, a large golem walks towards him. The creature puts out his hand, which holds a few medical items, which include a spray bottle and a few bandages.

“I help,” it says. Xiang grabs them and tries to put the bandages on his back. “No, you eat,” it says, while he points to his mouth. “Ah,” Xiang says, popping the bandage in his mouth. He grabs the spray bottle and tries to bite into it. “No! You no eat. Spray,” it said, appalled that Xiang doesn’t know anything about what he’s doing. Xiang manages to pull his arms up and uses the spray bottle. The blood from his fight started disintegrating and his scars started healing almost immediately. “Woah,” Xiang exclaimed, feeling jollier than ever, “Just who are you, and how can I thank you?” The golem replies hastily, “Me see you soon,” as he disappears into thin air.

Xiang was heavily confused at this moment but he saw a paper fall onto the floor from where the golem was standing. He makes his way towards it and picks it up. It was a ticket. A shiny golden yellow ticket, like nothing ever seen on Earth. Although loose, it was a pretty dense paper. As Xiang reads the words on the ticket, “Use at Summoning Area for Units,” he drops the ticket onto the floor. He runs over the city, building building, block after block. Xiang sees tons of civilians looking at him as if he were a lost chicken at a ram fight. Civilians? No.. These are... It can’t be. Xiang looks up in disbelief at the summoning center, everything he recognizes. He grunts as he falls onto the ground his hands on his head in an almost breaking down fashion. Xiang looked back up one more time and all of the memories previous to his death flashed before his eyes. The board at the summoning center read, “Anime Crusades! Summoning Center!” How!? Am I... In Anime Crusades? B-but the game! It got taken down! Xiang looks at the NPC that usually camps the summoning center in the real game, it looked so lifelike. The NPC had a gloomy face, looking down on his feet before it disappeared. A user interface popped up where he was standing, “Game Deletion Process: 2%” Xiang crouches down. In a fit of rage, Xiang screamed, “WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING!?” Everyone looked at Xiang, mocking and feeling pity for him. No one else can see the user interface but him. Xiang, with cold dead eyes, once again shouts, but this time, a vow. A vow to take down what got him in this world in the first place. What got him mauled to death. The main cause of all his misery… Xiang looks towards the summoning center. “I will kill David Baszuki myself.”
