...
I failed... Miserably.
Why did I even think...
Humans aren't trustworthy. It was my fault for trusting people in the first place.
And now, I am dead? Is this... Limbo?
'There was darkness all around me, wanting to consume me and assimilate me into nothingness'
So I just wait until my sense of self disappears? What a pathetic end...
[The trial has ended. You have passed all hurdles. To never lose hope, this is the most important quality of a Human.]
Who said that?
Did it come from above? Or from Bellow?... Who am I kidding, I don't even know where is left or right anymore...
[You are fit for the task]
Fit for the task? What is happening?
Could it be? I am being sent to another world? My time to shine?...
Sigh... I don't want to go to another world. I just wanted to have a happy life with my family...
[Survive]
'Pain, something I never felt before covered my whole body. As if my entire existence was being ripped apart
'This continued for a long time until I almost lost hope of surviving'
[Transference has been finished. All operations were successful.]
'I was still stunned, incapable of thinking because the pain left my mind numb'
[Calculating... You have been given a *****]
Wha... What did you say?
[Calculating previous life condition...]
[Above average social life due to the financial conditions provided by your parents and private school]
[Above average intelligence due to decades of a study-focused mind and access to the high amounts of information due to a global network of information]
[Above average physique due to constantly going to the gym to train your body]
[Cultural sense heavily tilted towards new trends, examples include but not exclude, Video games, Novels, Books, Manga, Anime...]
[Above average appearance, due to the advanced health care system and...]
[Calculating remaining parameters...]
[Setting up a scenario based on the results]
[DING!]
[1-You are a traveling knight that has just graduated from an academy
2-You are a scholar that has spent many years of his life studying under the tutelage of your father-like tutor.
3-You fleed from home and its annoying responsibilities, looking for an adventure and a life worth living.
4-You used to live in seclusion with your Family deep in the woods until your father told you it was time to leave and explore the world.
5-You are an Orphan that lived your entire life on the streets, using your mind and wits to survive all encounters.
6-You are Human trash, someone without destiny and future. You wasted your life on drugs and women.
7-You are a Returneer, someone not from this world. A being that shouldn't be here, you have no past, at this rate, do you even have a future?
8-Random start.
]
What?
What is all of this?!
[You have 5 minutes left... 4:59 seconds... 4:58...]
A timer?!
Okay! Calm down!
...
I can't calm down. I just died and I am now in this shit hole!
[4:50...]
Let me think...
'It was at that moment that I learned I could click one of the 8 options and see more information
[Choice Number 1
Your strength greatly rises
You will gain a combat technique and footwork style.
One set of normal adventurer gear
One bag full of traveling supplies Plus a few necessities and minor items
You suffer from an old injury that is preventing you from advancing in your path as a knight.
]
... Okay, this is all. No matter how much I click I cant see what is in the bag.
Let's see the next one before making a choice
Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more.
[Choice Number 2
Your intelligence rises
Your Wit greatly rises
Your physical strength massively decreases
You gain a set of traveling clothes, supplies, and a few books
Your intellect has received the praise of your tutor. You can analyze other people's conditions
You are slightly proficient in several arts such as medicine and map making
Your physic is weaker than those of your age due to the lack of physical training
]
Hum... I will start with some books, and this is the most important thing. Knowledge.
But those demerits... Strength. There is a lot of emphasis on this word...
If I read everything right, then I may be going into a more medieval-style society?
In any case. Next!
[Choice Number 3
...]
'for the next 4 minutes, I read as fast as I could through all 8 descriptions
If I were to put them into minimal words it would be...
1-The classic Knight Class
2-The fledgling Mage?
3-Deserted Noble
4-Hunter
5-Thief
6-Hard mode. I start with nothing but my luck seems to be much higher than normal... I would say this is the Underdog Class
7-Me... I will start as me and nothing else... But I don't know the implications of that.
8-It can be anything and not just those 7 prior to this choice. It is truly random... And I don't like that.
[30 seconds left]
...
Now for my choice...
Out of the bat, I removed the 5, 6, and 8 options. They were simply too crazy for me... It would be too much for me to handle in a situation that I can't even predict.
It was a hard choice, but I also removed the 1, 3, and 4 leaving only the 2 and 7.
Why?
Because the first one had one major mistake, the injury. Not being able to progress is sad. As a scholar, I can build up some muscle.
I removed the 3 and 4 because of their respective situations. A Noble fleying and a Hunter left alone in a forest... Neither seems like a good option to me.
I could be wrong, but I don't know how exactly things will play out.
And the last two... Me or an aspiring scholar...
If this is truly what I think it is... If a new world is truly waiting for me out there...
Then I don't want to live another life as "me"... I am fed up with that life...
Although... If I had a chance... I wouldn't hesitate to kill those bastards!
Phew... I feel much better now!
I wonder what is happening with me in here? My mind feels much clearer...
[5 seconds remaining]
I chose 2
[A choice has been made]
[Processing...]
[You are a young scholar, but how did you live your life?]
[When you were a child you:
A) Played with toys
B) Ran around the place
C) Read books and heard the elders talking
D) Explored dangerous areas
]
More choices?
Hum... If I am not wrong... This will heavily influence the body I have right?
Running around will probably influence my physic, Playing with toys will develop my... Creative mind? Reading will probably raise my intellect and the last one is...
I don't know... I will go with the build of the Scholar... I choose C
[A choice has been made]
[As a child, you passed most of your time enjoying peace and quiet among piles of books instead of playing in the mud]
[What did you do in your teenage years?]
[
A) Played with other people and had fun
B) Worked around the place to help your family and others
C) Read more advanced books and study complex subjects
D) Explored your hometown in search of hidden adventures
]
It seems to be more of the above... Should I go all in?
The scholar is already has a weak body... If I choose options that aggravate this state, what will happen?
This is a hard choice... Teenage years are very important...
Fuck it! I am going all in! I choose C!
[A choice has been made]
[In your teenage years you preferred to focus on reading the more advanced books and delve into complex theories. While others your age were still learning how to properly write, you could already talk in 2 languages]
[There were several interesting things during this time. Due to your studies, you managed to receive a certificate for properly descending the cause of a certain disease in the town. Gaining fame and wealth for your Family]
[It was thanks to this that you received a proper scholar diploma, becoming one of the youngest scholars in the territory]
[In your late teenage years to early adulthood, what did you do?]
[
A) Played with the citizens as you finally got full of reading books.
B) For some reason, you decided to start working. Perhaps being a Scholar wasn't your dream job.
C) Capitalizing on your previous success, you delved deeper into many unsolved problems and contacted other scholars, deepening your knowledge.
D) Fed up with your life, you decided to have a small adventure from time to time, rare would be the times when your parents would see you home.
]
I think it's obvious at this point...
C!!
[A choice has been made]
[Your will to improve wasn't going to extinguish that easily. You moved towns and sent goodbyes to your Family, seeking to provide them with a even better life while also accomplishing your dream]
[You enrolled for the most accomplished school for scholars in the territory and almost failed]
[But this wasn't enough to stop you! On the contrary, seeing your knowledge being challenged to such a degree has only opened your eyes more]
[After a few months of monotones college life, you managed to get the attention of one of the elders that would eventually become your tutor]
[Together, both of you published many famous books in the academy. And under those accomplishments, you graduated from the academy with sky-high grades]
[Your next target was the Royal Academy! The place where geniuses gather. But before going to your dream, the academy principal gave you a commission. If you were to successfully pass it, he will recommend you to the Royal Academy!]
[And this brings us to the current situation, you are an accomplished scholar going to a countryside village, your task is to fix the decaying village and stabilize its condition]
WOW...
What a guy... I would have stopped halfway sheeeesh.
[Choose 3 out of the 10 options]
There is more?!
[
Communion Lv0
Influence Lv0
Analyze Lv0
Teach Lv0
Command Lv0
Handcraft Lv0
Cleaning Lv0
Organize Lv0
Hand to hand combat Lv0
Study Lvo
]
... Some of these Skills are just...
Are they based on my choices? It has to be... From all possibilities that I can imagine, for only those to appear...
I can only choose 3...
Let's see, what am I? A Scholar with a lot of experience going into a remote village.
What do I need?
To get the village up and running smoothly.
And what can help me with that task?
The first 5 Skills.
There is only one problem that is making some of the choices hard...
Can I get these again? Or is this a one-time thing?
If I knew the answer...
And what is communion?
[Communion influences how other people see you, the higher it is the easier people will think good of you]
Oh? It actually responded!
Go over one by one.
[Influence changes the way your words are heard by other people, making them more friendly]
[Analyze is the capability to recognize patterns and describe events]
[Teach speeds up the rate at which people learn from you]
[Command...]
'One by one the mechanical genderless voice described to me each of the Skills... Or whatever they were'
I know what I want.
This will make my job a breeze... I at least should have no problems.
I choose Communion Lv0, Influence Lv0, and Command Lv0
[Processing...]
[Choose a major Trait out of the 5 options]
More fucking choices?!
[
Fast learner
Attractive
Lucky
Strong
Easily Forgettable
]
That last one...
Well, if you are a Thief, then I guess it's a good Trait.
Strong is useless for me now...
Attractive? That may be a good option... For obvious reasons! It perfectly matches the Skills I choose!
Fast learner is a good one if I plan to do pretty much anything in the future... The problem is how fast I learn.
If only I could've done this choice from the beginning...
And finally, Lucky...
Luck is a two-sided knife. It could do nothing for me but it could also change my life...
And in a world that I don't know anything about what is more important?
Potential or survival?...
I choose Lucky.
[A choice has been made]
[Processing...]
[Everything has been accounted for. You will now be deployed into your created character. Good luck and be sure to survive.]
'The voice didn't seem mechanical anymore'
OI! Who are...
I felt my consciousness being pulled away by a massive force.
For a moment I felt as if I could see a silhouette of something...
And I lost consciousness.
What I did not know was that I was this close to dooming myself with poor choices...
(Not edited, I will probably edit some things after the first chapter has been approved. Thank you for reading!)
