/Later that same day/
“Jonathan was in the attic training with his new Spear”
-27!... Hurf! 28!... Arg! 29!... 30!!-
/Clang!/
“Jonathan dropped his spear to the ground. He was so tired that he fell to the ground and couldn't get up even after several minutes”
-Damnit… This body of mine… Perhaps I took it a little bit too far.-
But I need to. If I can't even use a spear then I am fucked if anything happens. I can't rely on these Villagers that can't even take care of themselves.
(Flashback time)
/A few hours ago, when the first Spear was done/
“After waiting for around 2 hours, his Spear was finally ready. So Jonathan made his way from the Elder’s house to the newly built Forge”
“When he got there, Richard was already waiting for him by the door”
-You are here Elder, Ryan has been incredibly excited these past few hours. And he didn't leave the forge ever since it was built. I had some people help him by delivering supplies as you ordered.-
Did I order that?... I guess this was made on Auto-mode, like, if I ask for a sword to be made, another order will be given to fetch the materials?
-Thank you, Richard, is Ryan ready? Can we go inside?-
-Of course! Please follow me.-
“Richard opened the door and led Jonathan inside.”
“The layout of the place was pretty simple, there were four main rooms.
The front room where people would enter. It looked pretty similar to a conventional storeroom, containing a balcony and some stands where products would be placed.
The second and third rooms were respectively a small warehouse and a private room in case the smith decided to sleep in the forge.
The fourth room was, of course, the place where the magic happened...”
/Clang clang clang/
“When Jonathan entered, he couldn't help but notice how hot this room was, it's best if he didn't stay here long else his clothes would need another wash by the river.”
-We are here Elder.-
-Hm?-
“Ryan finally noticed the two visitors and decided to stop”
-Elder! My apologies! I didn't see you coming!-
-No need to bow and apologize, I am the intruder here.-
-Haha… Sorry for being direct, but I don't want to let the iron cool down. Could you tell me why you are here?-
-I heard you finished the Spear I ordered a few hours ago?-
-Yes! I have stashed it over here.
“Ryan turned around and went to pick a long object hidde-n under a robe”
-Sigh, I am sorry for the bad quality of this. It has been years since I hammered some iron, so my skills are quite rusty. Give me a month to readjust and I should go back to my former glory! Hahaha!
-There is no need to undervalue yourself like this! Being able to make this quic-kly already proves your capabilities.-
“The spear looked rather basic, no details nor anything special. Just a wooden pole with a triangular head. It's only redeeming quality was that the spear looked pretty solid.”
Let me see its stats…
[Iron Spear (Solid)
+10% Sturdiness
+10% Penetrative power
]
It actually has a good Prefix!
During these days, I got many items. And one thing they all had in common was these prefixes.
From (Pristine) to (Decaying). All sorts of items with all sorts of Prefixes were delivered to me.
I just find it surprising that I got such a good item, that's all.
This was Ryan’s first try after many years without touching a Hammer after all.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Perhaps this is to show his talent is very high?
I hope that’s the case.
-It's perfect Ryan, thank you for your hard work.-
-Haha… No need to flatter me. Once this troubling time passes I will be able to forge some good quality tools for myself. Things will get better from there.-
-I can't wait… I will leave you to your duties, just make sure to rest. We are not that desperate for items after all.-
-Leave me to it.-
“Richard and Jonathan left the room and made their way to the Elder’s house”
-... Now that we are here, what was that thing you wanted me to talk about?-
-It's like this Elder… Since you started to rebuild the village, many have started to feel… How do I say it… Idle.-
-The farmers have something to do, and the construction team has been working nonstop. But some people are just plain idle. They want something to do.-
-... That's not something I can do much about. Aren't they already helping the first team in searching the houses?-
-Yes they are… Yet they feel as if they could do more to the village.-
That's already a lot! If you all stop searching the houses the materials are going to stop coming!
I have an idea...
-Hum… Look, I can't give all of them something to do. But let's do it like this.-
-Tomorrow morning you will ask each villager what is the thing they would like to do. And I will try to do my best to provide that to them.-
-If there is someone who would like to become a Smith, tell that to me and I will assign them to the Smithy. If there is someone who would like to become a Hunter then I will have them work in the soon-to-be-built Hunter’s Hut.-
-I want to know what they want to do and what they can do.-
This is because although the Village tab says someone’s Job, they might not be happy with that job in the first place.
I need to find their dream Job so they may work efficiently and Tier-up quickly.
-... I will do that, Elder. By the time you wake up, I shall have a list ready for you.-
-Thank you Richard… May I trouble you with bringing me Dinner when it's ready?-
-You don't even have to ask. I was going to do that already Hoho.-
“Richard said his goodbyes and left the house. Jonathan on the other hand picked the Spear and started to train in the Attic. He wanted to get stronger as soon as possible.”
/End of the flashback/
…
-Awww… It's already morning?-
My body is finally adapting to this world, I managed to wake up on my own and early as well.
Wait...
Isn't my body already from this world?
/Knock knock knock/
I quickly put on my clothes and opened the door.
-OH? You are already up Jonathan. I came here to deliver your food and to wake you up as always.-
“It was none other than Richard with a bowl of soup on his hands”
I swear to God… I can't take soup anymore and it has been only 4 days…
-Thank you, Richard, come inside.-
-Excuse me then.-
…
-Did you get what I asked of you yesterday?-
-Of course! People were really excited when I asked them the questions.-
-Here is the list I made after going over each villager. Oh! This does not include the Old since they can't work very well due to their age. Although they said they would try to help whenever they can.-
-The children are obviously not on this list as well. Although some have already started to work, Ryan for example has asked for your permission to allow his own son to work in the forge.-
-There is no need to ask for my permission, the forge isn't mine. But since he asked, tell him that as long as he can control his son, he is allowed to work there.
-Noted.-
-Let me take a look at this list…-
[DING]
[A new quest has been triggered]
[Assign all of the villager's workers so they may be useful for the village development]
[14/20 Villagers assigned
Rewards
Average happiness +10
+10% work efficiency for one week
In case of failure:
Average happiness -15
Reputation -10
The villagers will lose their motivation to work and their expectations for the future
]
WHAT?!
Just because I am not giving you all something to do you are going to stop being excited and are going to lose hope as well?!
Fucking hell.
Let me see…
From the worker Jobs, the only person that isn't assigned is our Leatherworker.
Including the 5 farmers that I left to take care of the Crops, I am left with the five Tier-0 Villagers and 10 Tier-0 Farmers.
Plus the Leatherworker…
But some of those Tier-0 villagers and farmers are kids and the old, so if I remove them I am left with…
1 Tier-0 Villager and 5 Tier-0 Farmers.
(The other 5 Tier-0 farmers are a mix of the children that help their parents from time to time, and the old people who can't work anymore in such body-draining tasks.
Something similar can be said for the Tier-0 villagers, they are the very young kids who can't really do anything, and the old who never specialized in anything during their lives. )
This is pretty easy to resolve. This is the easiest quest I have ever done.
With this, I will have a 50% increase in work efficiency during an entire week.
That is if the villagers remain hopeful and excited for that long…
(If someone is confused about the Respected bonus, It works like this.
When a villager receives an order from either the mc or Richard, they will gain a 10% work efficiency bonus.
But when they are doing something out of their own volition, this effect does not apply.)
-Let's do it like this, Order these five people to work in this medium-sized plot of land. It's a little further away from our location, but it's one of the furthest fields from the forest, meaning no monsters are going to suddenly attack them.-
-And the last person… He wants what?!-
-You heard right. He wants to become an adventurer and explore lands outside of the village.-
That fucker… If he does that I would lose another worker and his family would become really worried… Looking at him, his chances of dying are almost 100%.
-Urg… The most I can do for him is to give him a Spear so that he can protect the village from monsters, he will work under the other two I plan to appoint as guards…-
-EMERGENCY! HELP! THERE ARE MONSTERS IN THE CROP FIELDS!-
-WHAT?!-
Give me a fucking break…
