Chapter 16 - Escape

 The guards wearing heavy armors and shield were unstoppable. With their shields and armors the arrows of the bandits and swords were useless when they decided to charge together. The guards then arrive at the golden robed man and encircled the city lord.

 As the guard circle was formed  one of the guards who seems to be the captain of these guards then walk towards the city lord and said:

"Are you alright m'lord?'' said the man.

''Ah, yes, I seem to have calmed down and the pain is gone... You should thank the young lady here that have rescued me'' said the City Lord.

The man then faces Ava and said. ''I on the behalf the guards thank you for your assistance, may I know your name?''

''I am Ava Wondergovel, a doctor specialist. I help the city lord due to his wounds and out of wanting to extend a helping hand.''

''I, Gaius Nirel, thank you for saving our city lord.'' as the man named Gaius look at me and said ''May I also know your name?''

''Yes.... I am Stian Peregrine, and like my name I am a wanderer and a pilgrim. Though I honestly am here just because my friend have rushed to save the city lord.''

''Nonetheless, if you haven't protected the young woman then should have probably have not reached our city lord.'' as Gaius look at the knocked down bandit.

''But let's get into the point, right now we need to escort the city lord out of this mess and that we need to get more reinforcements on the outpost near the West Nectar street. We only have come here due to a patrolling guard hearing the city lords scream and have reported back in the based of the Wodfel Tree's outpost.''

 I see, so the reason they are able to respond is due to coincidence. But now the problem is that I am stuck here with them.

 Gaius continued. ''Right now, we can assume that with those wyverns and this kind of unity in battling that these bandits are the well known Blood Kin's of Oss. Which means that if that is the case, those two wyverns are not the only one they have. So we are gonna expect that they have either a way to escape this city or that they still have an objective that they need to accomplish... But right now we have no way of knowing that and so we will have to make the city lord's reach safety!''

 I see, though they prioritize stealing those cauldrons and barrels they didn't leave immediately. But what is it?

''So what exactly do we do?'' i asked.

''We need  a runner, someone with fast legs and can evade the eyes of these people''

 When Captain Gaius said that , Ava's eyes point at me. I gulped.....

''Mr Stian....can i ask a favor'' said Ava tearfully.

"What is it?'' though i do know is in her mind i still asked.

"'Please, be the runner, with your wanderer's hand it should be possible to reach West Nectar Street!''

''...........''

Goddamn it! Fuck! Oh man, this is really troublesome....sighed. No choice here huh, i already involve myself anyway so why the fuck not do it? But what if i fail? But what if they are faster than me? What if ?...........No there is nothing i can do now aren't it?

''I accept.....''

Ava look at me gladly and then spoke:

''Thank you!, Captain Gaius please instruct  Stian on the task his gonna do!''

 ''Do you know where West Nectar street is?'' Gaius asked.

''Yes, i am currently staying on the Vicar Inn.''

''Then take this.'' as Gaius handed a badge. ''Take this to the commanding officer of the outpost there. He should know what to do when shown that badge.''

''I see, then how should i start to run from this chaos'' i asked.

''Let me help then'' as Ava painted the ground with her energy as the roots covered us.

 ''Then im off. See you later Ava'' as i channeled the white threads of energy around my body as i turn invisible. Then seeing the roots go down i took the chance to jump quietly and silently walked towards the road leading down the Tree.

 Carefully avoiding everyone, I sneakily go past the crowd of people and then crouched to reduce the noise i make. Then using the commotion use by the clang of metals. I started running and pass the guards and bandits.

 Meanwhile as i was sneaking quietly taking a step, a loud roar vibrated around the area as a group of riders mounting wyverns roared and descended towards the guards!

 Seeing the group of  wyverns appear, the heavy armor guard Captain Gaius and his squad took a a defensive position while  Ava started taking control of the roots that she summon and made use of it as giant whips that slaps  them off the sky.

 There were total of ten wyvern riders among them.  The Sinister man named Krauss Wolfmoon then shouted towards them:

''Don't let any guards or helpers escape! Cast Detect Aura and Detect life!'' as he ordered.

 Seeing the wyvern riders agreed. They quickly cast the two spells!

 Having a bad feeling about  those two spells, i then quickly run towards the pathway heading down with extreme speed! Adrenaline coupled with  the blessing of the Wanderer's Hand have made my pace to arrive near the based of the tree! But then as i was about to continue heading down. I feel my body glow as my invisible shape was revealed !

 When the enemies sense the human formed glow, five of the riders shouted:

''After him!!!!!'' as they shouted and pointed their swords towards me.

 Hearing their roars, i then quickly dashed off and jump towards a nearby roof and slowly descended while doing a roll to break my fall! Due to my enhance capabilities i was able to successfully rolled to safety and using the momentum given by the roll started my quick stride towards West Nectar Street! Invisibility has no use right now since i have been detected by the spells so i turn my invisibility off and focus the energy threads on my body as they wrapped my bones, muscles and skins making white lines as i run even faster!

 I must either escape here or get rid of them! I must reach West Nectar Street as fast as possible!
