I can see Ravenblack from the cliff I’m currently on.
A town, which was obvious, comparing it to the Pioneer’s village. It had a mid-European feel to it, with a stone wall around it, and houses that were mostly yellow and white, with a white church that could be seen even from here. Another huge building, a grey building of stone could also be seen. It seemed to be a bustling and lively city, since I can see a lot of people around here. Alright. I’m here!
But right now, I’m being attacked by a group of Sarols. They were about as big as a normal humans, with yellow skins and, skinny wings. They couldn’t fly, but could jump high up. Their legs were thick and strong, and they mostly used kicks. We were admiring the scenery from above the cliff, and were ambushed by the Sarols. The four Sarols were small fry if I used my Monster slayer energy, but it’s best if I train my base abilities, according to Master. Slayerification should be my trump card.
I keep parrying the Sarol’s kicks, but the shock from the kick, throws me off balance from time to time. I hold on, trying to spot a weakness. There! One of them just stumbled. I quickly close in, and I try to slice off its leg. I couldn’t completely cut it off, but I could leave a huge gash on it. It collapses, and I attempt to go in for the kill.
“Waaah!”
Damn! I forgot about Milias! She was about to be kicked by one of the Sarols, and the damage won’t be a few bruises. I quickly get into range, and fire my pre-chanted “Flame” and distract them. I dive in front of her, and the other Sarol kicks my side.
“Gufu!”
I cough, spitting out blood. I’m still inexperienced. Strength is not all in a fight. Tactics, strategy, everything is important. I’m reminded of my inexperience in every fight. In a solo fight, this might not have happened, but in a group fight , i need more experience. I need to form a party! My instincts dull without the Slayer energy, but even with that, fighting while keeping someone safe is difficult.
I once again go back on the defensive, blocking and parrying the heavy attacks.
“Earth, pierce through, Earth spike!”
I use my elementary earth magic, and the spike moves to kill the Sarol, flying towards its head. It shatters. But that’s what I needed. A distraction. I stab into the Sarol’s head, killing it. I pull out the sword by wrenching the blade out, so that the blood distracts one of the Sarols. A useful trick Arcus san taught me. It’s been two days since I left Baras, huh.
I quickly dispatch the other two Sarols and the handicapped Sarol, and wipe my blood on the ground.
“All right Mili, let’s head to Ravenblack”
“Yes!”
I started calling her Mili, since Milias was a mouthful, and she doesn’t mind it to. The plan of using food to defeat her was a success! We head down the slope, and walk towards the town.
The difference between a town and a village is evident. People are running about, or conducting trade. Some people also have leather armor and swords on their hips. Adventurers, looks like. Mili looks around, fascinated. Well, it’s not really much different from Baras.
Right. I’m in a town. So what do I do?
I’m in a dilemma. My plan was limited to coming to Ravenblack and becoming an adventurer, but now that I think about it, how do I become an adventurer? That’s right, Milias sama!
“Mili, how do I become an adventurer?”
Mili looks at me strangely, and then replies.
“You don’t even know that? Isn’t that the absolute bas—. Never mind. We need to register at an Adventurer’s guild.”
“An adventurer’s guild huh.”
So those do exist? Game elements are evident here. Wait. It may be possible that the games were influenced by this world! That makes sense! People get teleported here, and when they return, they use the knowledge from here, to create games. That actually makes sense.
So a way to return does exist. Good. I was a bit worried.
“Oi, uncle, do you know where the Adventurer’s guild is?”
“Oya, a newcomer? It’s that grey building over there. Go kill some monsters!”
“Ou!”
I ask an uncle, who looked like an adventurer, and it seems my hunch was right. The grey building is the Adventurer’s guild. I head over there, and above the gate, it was inscribed, Adventurer’s guild.
I enter the guild. Like in fiction, the guild was filled with macho men and dangerous looking ruffians, with battle hardened faces. To the right, there was a restaurant like setup, and a reception counter to the left. There was a request board next to the reception too. There were stairs in the corner of the room, which climbed to the top of the Guild.
I walk to the reception, and a receptionist onee-san greets me. She was a bit shorter than me, with auburn red hair tied into a bun. Her spectacles, hiding her brilliant blue irises looks up from the book she was reading when I approach. Mili sticks quite close to me, seemingly intimidated by the ruffians. So she thinks I’m better than dangerous looking people at least. Good.
“Yes? How may I help you?”
“Um, I want to become an adventurer.”
“Ah you’ll need an entry fee of 200 nirs. Then, please place your hands on the Luxur stone, in order to make your adventurer’s card.”
“Haha.. I don’t have any money..”
“Well, you seem to have some good weapons. Why don’t you sell them at the guild store, and use the money to pay the fees?”
Sell the stuff huh. Maybe I can sell the meat ?
“Um, can meat and other stuff be sold?”
“Of course. Food is a vital resource after all.”
“Thank you”
I thank her and leave, heading to the guild store. The guild store … Where is it? There’s only the restaurant and the reception office here. Upstairs?
“Fufu… It’s just next to the guild.”
The onee san tells me where it is. I thank her, and quickly head to the store. Mili relaxes once we exit the guild. I’m sorry Mili, but we’ll have to head in there again.
“Uoooo! Is that an interspatial ring?! That’s good stuff, laddie! And this meat! Is this Sarol meat?! You must be quite an experienced adventurer ,lad! Tell you what, I’ll buy all of this meat for 70 silver. How about it? Quite a good deal, eh?”
The guild store owner, a bald muscle man with a handlebar moustache, looks amazed at the sarol meat. It was quite tasty. 70 silver huh?
“Shopkeeper san, I don’t really get currency though?”
“Of course of course. I’ll tell you. A 1000 nirs make a silver, a 100 silvers make a rais. A 100 rais make a gold”
Nirs, silver, rais and gold huh. There’s some unconventional names mixed in , but it does seem similar to everyday currency. What about copper though?
I exchange the meat for the silver, and head back inside the guild. Mili opts to stay out, but I can’t let such a cute girl alone in a town now can I? I drag her in, and walk to the reception onee san again. Right now, I have 70,000 nirs. Plenty. I give the onee san the money, and she places an orb before me. It was filled with some blue mist, which kept swirling around.
“Place your hands on it, then state your name and title.”
“Title?”
“Ah. It’s what you want to be called as an adventurer.”
I was almost about to keep it as slayer, but decided against it. It’ll be best to keep that hidden.
I place my hand on the orb, and the mist starts glowing and swirling faster.
“Yuuya Nakajima. Chaos King”
Right. A name like this, will be—
No! Too chuuni! I was such an idiot!
The onee san giggles, but quickly regains her professional expression. Uu…so embarrassing. It was a bad idea to use it after all!! I want a re do!
“Um, can I have a redo?”
This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
“Of course. But it’ll cost you 20 gold”
Tw-Twenty gold?! Impossible! It’s inflation! My fate as a chuunibyou is sealed…
The onee san gives me two cards, one bronze, and the other white.
“Ah. This is your ID card, and the bronze one is your adventurer card. The ID card will cost another 200 nirs”
“I didn’t ask for one though?”
“The information network has no record of your mana, so it made an ID card for you. “
I give her the 200 nirs, and receive the cards. I examine the two cards.

Oh. Admit cards huh. Since Mili also doesn't have one, maybe I should get one for her.
"Um, can i get an admit card for her too?"
"Of course. Place your hands on the Luxur stone."
I lift Mili up, and she stretches her little hands and places it on the orb. The orb once again glows and swirls, and the onee san picks up the card from below it and gives it to me. She doesn't even glance at it. Professionalism, i guess. I check Mili's card.

E-Eh?! Age… 93?! She’s… she’s a senior! Wait wait. Elves run on a different system. So in a mental sense, I’m older than her.
I convince myself with that. I forgot that she already knew a lot more stuff than me. Yup. Definitely.
“Since you’re officially an adventurer now, you can start on the requests “
“ How do I do requests?”
“Ah. You just need to check the requests on the contract board, and tear off the ones you want to do. Shall I give you a thorough explanation?”
“Yes, please”
“There are three types of requests, the guild sponsored ones, the private requests, and the emergency requests. The guild sponsored ones are at the top right corner of the board, and you are not supposed to tear it off, since the guild will pay you if you bring the proof of completion. The public requests are the ones given by other people. Those, you need to take if you’re going to do it. The rewards are decided by them, and they will have to deposit the money to the guild. The guild receives a 5% for putting up the contract, and another 10% upon completion. Of course, the deducted money is removed from the request. The emergency requests are compulsory for all adventurers, and if you decide not to do it, you may be demoted, or even stripped off your adventurer job. Next to it is the notification board, where you can put up announcements. The guild receives a payment for it, and you are not supposed to take it.”
“ I see.”
“ The adventurers are divided into ten ranks, the bronze, silver, gold, platinum, black gold, mithril, champion, master, emperor and legend ranks. The ground floor is for Bronze and silver ranks, the first floor for gold, platinum and black gold ranks, the second floor is for Black gold, champion and master ranks, and the third floor is for Legend ranks. Of course, the second floor and above here has never been used, since such high ranked adventurers seldom stay in such rural towns. After joining, you are registered as a Bronze adventurer. After you complete 5 requests of the next rank, you can promote yourself to the next rank”
“I understand. Thank you”
I thank the one san and try to leave the guild, with cards in my hand. Try to. Because some rowdy looking men stand in front of me. I expected this though. But, I need to stay low.
“Hey, junior. We’re your senior adventurers. Now, show me your card, let’s see your strength!”
The leading man, a tall guy with a mohawk, attempts to take the cards from me. I step back, put the cards inside my coat, and attempt to leave. It’s best not to cause any trouble.
“Come on~ Don’t be so cold, junior!”
He puts his arm in front of me, to stop me from leaving. Tch. What an annoying guy. Won’t you allow someone to live as a non violence lover?
So I think, but in reality, I’m itching to thrash him. I hold back my instincts and coldly glare at him.
“Ha~ Just show me the ID card of the elf. And give her to us. We’ll have some fun time with her~! Right, elf~chan?”
My fist is white from me clenching it so hard. He wants to do vulgar things with my Mili chan? MY MILI CHAN?!
“Come on little elf~ Let’s play~ In bed~!”
Mili gets scared and hides behind me. I’m one more comment away from sending him to Purgatory, when—
“OOORYAAAH~!”
Someone else busts in, and sends my prey flying. Good. I would have killed him if he were even a bit more annoying. I look towards our savior, and—
Her fluttering light blue hair enters my vision. Her light blue eyes, now filled with disgust and anger, stared down at those vulgar men. She wore a white long sleeved shirt with shoulder plates and arm guards, and pants similar to cargo pants. A bow and a quiver were strapped onto her back.
“How dare you go and bully some newbies huh Marco?!?”
“Shit, Maria, it’s an elf. So we were trying to protect her from that weak looking low life.”
Who’s a low life, you fag! Oh yeah. I’m not a low life too.
“ I don’t care. He does look ‘super weak’
[Critical hit]
and ‘completely weak’
[Critical hit X 50]
and totally a ‘wuss’
[Super effective. Yuuya has fainted]
But that elf chan is travelling with him of her own volition! How dare you try and do such vulgar things, Marco?! Even I’m a lady too!”
“Says who. You’re totally unladylike”
“Yup.”
I nod. And when I look up, everyone looks shocked. Oops. Did I say that out loud?
“What….did you say?”
Maria san turns her head towards me, her eyes were burning. All my senses are warning me to ru—
She walked closer to me, and i swear i could see steam coming out of her head. She kicked away the furniture, and edged closer to me. She isn't going to hit me, right? Right?! Every step of hers seems to make the ground tremble. The entire guild room watched silently. Save me!
“U-um I was talking to Mili and uh.. agreeing when Mili said that you looked really beautiful!”
“You think I’ll fall for that, you bastard?!!”
She closes in on me, grabs my collar and wrenches me upto her face, looking down on me. She "Humph"s then pushes me away and walks away, all yakuza like.
The devil incarnate walks out of the guild. I breathe a sigh of relief.
My first day of becoming an adventurer…was a disaster.
