I’m rushing back to the village, zipping through the forest. I feel extremely happy at passing the trial that I can barely hold myself from jumping up and yelling out. Right. This calls for a celebration. I stopped running, and cast a more intricate version of Mind’s eye, “Detect”

I decide not to use the monster slayer energy this time, since it may make the monsters run away from a sudden burst of god class energy. Dragon energy is also a no, since if they’re scared from a wolf, they’d be dead from heart attacks if the lord of the sky wanted to hunt them.

I release the super passive, highly efficient, freeloader, the God slayer energy. It courses through the forest, at high speeds. Right. Already found seventeen of them, within 20 meters of me.

I run to the first mob, a pack of silver fur wolves. They don’t see me coming, as I was still a bit far from them, but by the time they detect me, I had already reached them and pierced the alpha with my Rebellion.

There were four of them, and one was already dead. The others went into panic, seeing that the alpha died. In a smooth movement, I sliced off the legs of one of the wolves, while hitting another with a kick in one rotation. The third tried to attack me from the front, but I quickly release the magic I had already chanted, Flame. The hot fire burns into the wolf’s face, and it howls in pain. I quickly kick its chin with an upward stroke, and it died with its neck twisted. Immediately, I dispatched the legless wolf by throwing my sword at its head, and killed the last one by stabbing it through its chest.

I gather up the wolves and lay them near the tree. And then

‘KIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!!’

A high pitched scream resounds, and I reflexively shut my ears. The boss monster is here. A demon bird. But it’s not a normal demon bird. Its 8 meters long, and its purple feathers are spotted with white. A queen bird. Jackpot. Delish. My body is raring to fight against it, the monster which Master killed in mere seconds. But I know I need to use my Dragon energy, since I can’t jump as high as master.

I release the energy in to my legs, reinforcing them. There is an extra effect since it’s an airborne enemy. The instincts of a dragon, that no one can be above it is flaring within me. Woo yeah!

My legs thicken, and a dark tint appears on it. Pseudo scales. The queen bird dives down, trying to use its claws to just quickly kill me.

I jump, up high right into the bosom of the bird. A dust cloud raises when I jump. That’s the raw strength of a dragon. I drive my sword into its chest, trying to quickly kill it. The bird senses my intentions, and spreads its wings, backing off from me. Shit. My jump was too short. It flaps its wings, and a huge gust of wind carries me off, sending me crashing into the forest. Ouch. I can feel my right arm dislocate. Damn bird.

I jump up to my feet, and run at the bird, which is still really far away from me. I put maximum strength into my lower body, so that the strain of jumping doesn’t cause any injuries.

I leap, up high, above the queen bird. It narrows its eyes, and tries to skewer me on its long beak by rushing at me like a drill.

As if I’ll let you do that. I use Gust and roll my body to the side, rotating violently, with my unsheathed blade. The bird goes past me, without hitting me, but my sword pierces through its wing, and with the rotation, successfully tears a huge gash down its left wing. I free fall into the ground, but I occasionally use Gust to soften my landing. The bird screams in pain and crashes into the forest. I run, not willing to let it escape, even by luck. The bird struggles to get up, since one of its wings were badly damaged.

I don’t give it even a second of reprieve, as I bring my blade down on its super thick neck, releasing my Monster slayer energy.

“Monster Slayer’s killing blade!”

I use the Monster Slaying skill and quickly end the bird’s life. Tch. I dislocated an arm. I pop it back in, feeling disgruntled. I took longer, and even got an injury. I take the bird by its long beak, and drag it back to the village.

“Ou! Lil Yuu? You got a queen bird? That’s a great catch!”

Arcus san greets me, with a look of envy. That’s right. Arcus san wanted to hunt these.

“Lil Yuu, how did the test go?”

A man with light blue hair tied into a bun behind his head, asks me. His spectacled eyes look over me with worry.

“I passed it Hario san. It was easy”

“So you’ll be leaving tomorrow?”

“Yup”

“Then that means we need to hold a farewell party don’t we?!”

Arcus san, please don’t. Your class introduction itself was very embarrassing.

“That’s not necessary Arcus san. It’s best we don’t do parties. Right, Hario san?”

I ask Hario san. He’s a quiet type of person, so he would definite—

“Definitely not. We shall be holding a party for sure. It’s a Slayer custom. Are you trying to break out traditions, young man?”

Hario san, you traitor.

I walk into the village, and give the queen bird to the shopkeeper san. She always wears a hat on her head, hiding her blonde hair. A woman who looks as old as Master,Angela san.

“Oh. If it isn’t Yuu boy! Is that a queen bird? You’re gonna exchange it?”

“Yup. I want a weapon repairing set, Angela san”

“A weapon repair? You have that splendid sword don’t you? You can easily fix— Oh. Are you leaving, Yuu boy?”

“Yes..”

Angela san looks visibly saddened. Every one in the village were like my family. I’m sure they don’t really want me to go, even if it’s to dispel their curse.

“I see. I’ll deliver it at your farewell party, so go on”

Uuuu…I don’t want such an embarrassing event Angela san!!

I head back to the cabin, and as always, just fall onto it.

“How was the test?”

“Fwine”

My voice kind of gets muffled by the bed, but I’m too lazy to lift my head up.

“Sleep for now. I’ll call you at midnight. Your party preparations have already started.”

I didn’t listen to the party part, and already dozed off.

The noise and clamor wake me up. What’s happening? I rush out, picking up my Rebellion. And what greets me is a—

Festival.

With music playing and people singing along with it, Baras village was wrapped in a festive mood. The entire market place was gone, and replaced with pavilions and tents, with all the people having drinks and enjoying themselves with all the food.

My farewell party huh? No matter how you look at it, isn’t a festival too much?!!

I walk down the slope, and quickly try to find the culprit.

There he is. Arcus san.

“There he is! Lil Yuu!”

He yells out so, and everyone turns to me. Everybody rush to me, patting me on my back, and giving me gifts for the journey. A lot of people invite me to a drink, but I decline. I’m a minor. But maybe, letting loose like this might be a bit good.

In a valley surrounded by mountains, the monsters of the forest in the valley can hear singing. If you go a bit deeper into the forest, you’ll find the village of Slayers, Baras. Because tonight, at midnight, the entire village was wrapped in merrymaking and joy. People sung and dance to the music, forgetting their daily lives of difficulties, and enjoyed themselves to the fullest.

A youth wearing a black shirt and brown pants walked up to a stage, as per the request of the crowd. He was the centre of attention for today. The Slayer Yuuya, who had suddenly intruded their village, but still made everyone happy. Then, the youth, with his cheeks red presumably from alcohol spoke.

“Everyone! I thank you for having me here at Baras! It was truly a fun three months, and I enjoyed meeting everyone here. Arcus san, Gillareal san, Hario san, Angel san, Biriona san, Kirika san, and everyone else who’s here. I Yuuya Nakajima, give you my wholehearted gratitude!! Thank you. And a special thanks to my master, Miras Arisbelle for making this weak and pathetic me, even a little stronger! Everyone! Master just feels a bit shy because she’s afraid everyone hates her!! Please be friendly with her, and make my old hag master a—“

“Who’s an old hag, you idiot disciple?!!!”

A stone was thrown from the crowd, and knocked out the youth. Every body gathered there watched the scene with warm gazes. And the merrymaking continued all night…

Uuuu….. My head hurts. I don’t remember what happened before… I’m back in my bed. I yawn, trying to remember what happened.

Ah wait. I remember. Master carried me to the bed, and since she was dead drunk too, she collapsed onto the bed. That’s right. IT’s just like a grandmother and a grandchild sleeping together. Nothing wrong. Right?

I was drunk yesterday huh… Yesterday was a wild night. It was fun…

I smile, remembering what happened yesterday. I see why the Slayers keep these parties. Because right now, I feel reluctant to go. Well, I need to get ready to leave now.

I get up, and get ready. When I glance to the table, a whole lot of stuff is piled on there.

Gifts to our little slayer

Geez.. these guys. How am I supposed to carry these many things?

I sort through the gifts, and pick out whatever I need. The rest, I’ll keep here since I’ll come back here one day. That’s right. This is home.

I pick up the long black overcoat that Arcus san got for me. Haha, He even wrote a description. It’s made of Violet spider kings web, so it won’t tear easily huh. What a luxury item. I wear it, and swish it around a bit. A coat seems cool.

I pick up the gift from Master. It’s a ring. It’s green in colour, with gold patterns on it. What is it? I read the card next to it. An interspatial ring huh. It's like a hole, with almost 10000 sq metres of area in it, with at least 10 metres of depth! That’s almost 2 football fields!! Master! You’re great! I'll never need a bag!

I pick up the next gift from Biriona san. A mask. A black mask with some gold lines on it. Why a mask? I read her letter, and it says that it’s for covert work. Secret agent Nakajima. Sigh..

I place the mask inside my coat, near my chest. At least it’ll work as armour.

Hario san got me a hood that I can attach to the coat. And Angela san got me the weapon repair tools, along with an eyepatch. An eyepatch! My chuuni side is tingling!! Well, I do walk around with my eye shut, since if I open them, they look like a horror movie. The eyepatch was black, with a gold flower like design on it. I wear it, and walk a bit ahead on my path to become chuunibyou. I'm only a prosthetic eye away from completing the set! But it does feel comfortable.

I waive my hand, and all the stuff goes into the ring. Convenient. Truly. Time runs in a different way inside the ring’s space.

I wear the belt Gillareal san got for me and wear the swords on both sides. Sweet. I have an adventurer like look now!

“Setting off?”

A few hours later, Master asks me, as I was picking up the belt with my swords and walking out of the cabin.

“Yes. Please take care of yourself, Master. I’ll be back”

She nods, and I leave. Right. It’s time to see the outer world.

Everyone comes to see me off, and I say my farewells to everyone. Some cry and the others cheer me on. For me, they are the closest I have to family. I head towards the entrance, and there, Biriona san calls out to me.

“Lil Yuu~ Can you do me a favour~?”

Biriona san gestures to a child standing next to her. There are children here?! The child is about 120 cm tall, with hair in twin tails. The same dark green hair as Biriona san. Her eyes were emerald green, and she stared at me. Might be Biriona san’s relative.

“She’s a niece of mine, Miliasa. Um…Can you..um.. drop her off at the Forest of the Elves?”

“Biriona san? What about the test?”

“Ah~ she passed it already~”

She … she passed it?!!

Biriona san looks at my shocked face and giggles.

“Don’t worry . She only had to fight a demon cricket. Well, it might have been too much for her though.”

Maybe demon crickets are easy monsters? I hope so…

Well there’s no way I’m gonna say no to Biriona san. Forest of the Elves huh? Well, I’ll need to do that first then, right?

“Um, Biriona san, I might’ve to head to someplace else first though?”

Biriona san looks thoughtful at first.

“Um~ Allright~ Just make sure she gets there~ It’ll take longer if she had to get stronger and leave on her own,so it’s alright~”

“Haha. Then it’s ok. Biriona san. Leave it to me!”

I say so to Biriona san. As if I’m gonna say no to her. What’s more shocking is that the kid passed the test. And i…I failed!!

And so I set off, with Miliasa in tow, to the outside world!
