Chapter 13: My decision was a bit rash

Chapter 13: My decision was a bit rash

Uuu… Master, please don’t look at me with those eyes! You make me feel like I’m filth.

Right now, we’re heading into the forest. Master is leading the way. She looks really pissed off. She tried more than a hundred times to stop me from doing the reckless stunt, but i didn't budge, so she reluctantly gave in, but still really pissed off. I don’t know whether it’s because she thinks I’m cocky, or whether it’s because I’m greedy, or whether it’s because I might be about to break her record.

I definitely don’t think it’s the last one. Nope. Definitely not.

Master was hacking and slashing at all the trees in her way. Master, they are innocent. Please don’t become a nature slayer!

“All of them. All of them he says Cocky brat! I hope you die!” (Master)

I can faintly hear her muttering. I hope it’s not something that would make me die. Wait, will she tamper with the process?! No way. Master is a tolerant person. She would never do something so dishonorable just due to jealousy. Right? Right?!

We’ve already left the village behind, and are quite deep in the forest. Master annihilates every tree and every monster in the way, creating a path.  Master, you really shouldn’t do this. This might attract some of the big fis—

“KIEEEEEEE!!!!”

And there it is. A demon bird. It looks like a Pterodactyl with feathers. It was covered with a violet plumage, and its eyes were blood red. Its diving down, attempting to take us out and carry us away.

“Master, be careful--!” (Yuuya)

“I was waiting for you, you damn bird!!” (Miras)

Eh. She cut apart the forest just to bring demon bird here? Master, environmentalists won’t be very pleased with you. They’ll hunt you down you know?

Master leaps off the ground, and approaches the demon bird with terrifying speed. The bird looks shocked, and tries to change its trajectory, but its too late. Master draws her sword, a double edged bastard sword, and throws it into the eye of the demon bird. Blood spurts out, and the demon bird cries out in agony. Is that.. a chain? Master had attached a chain to the hilt of the sword. Then, she pulled the chain in to get onto the back of the demon bird.

The demon bird. A 7 meter long bird ,which is renowned as the master of the skies. But against Master, its like a helpless child. Truly, master is too OP. She repeatedly stabs the neck of the demon bird with another bastard sword she had. The demon bird does various aerobatic stunts, trying to shake off master. But the sword is lodged firmly into the eye of the demon bird, without any sign of being shaken off. The demon bird tries inverted flight to shake off master, but then she swings on the chain, reaches above its underbelly, and drives her sword down into the throat of the monster.

“ Flaming greatsword!”

She  yells, and suddenly, a greatsword, much larger than master, appears from nowhere, made out of flames. It stabs into the point where master was stabbing into, and the bird loses the color in its eyes. Dead. Was that magic? But more importantly, the demon bird  comes crashing down into the forest.

*BOOOOOOMM!!!!*

It crashes, and a dust cloud rises. Out of the dust, a figure emerges. Master. Too OP. Seriously too OP. Master looks soooo cool! Like the superheroes from movies!

“That was a good breather. Now then, Let’s go!” (Miras)

Breather. A monster that might be inferior only to the dragons, was just small fry for master. Ah~ I can’t wait to become a Slayer.

She might just be showing off though....

We continue heading into the forest, and right now, we’re quite close to one of the mountains. It’s almost sun set now, and we reach the mountain. A lot of people were standing there, including Arcus san.

“Arcus san!” (Yuuya)

“Ah~!  Lil Yuu. You’re here. Go become a great slayer.” (Arcus)

Arcus san pats me on the back, saying so. The others also smile at me. I haven’t talked to them, but I know I can trust them. Because we’re Slayers. Well, I might become an Ex slayer in the process though. I hope not.

We keep walking, with Arcus san, to the face of the mountains. There, a huge rock with charms all over it stood, almost as if it was covering a cave. Arcus san, with his super OP strength, lifts the rock and gestures me to go in. I feel a bit nervous, but still went in. Master follows after me.

“Master? Why are a lot of Slayers here? “ (Yuuya)

“Precautions.” (Miras)

She replied quietly. She seems quite worried. Don’t worry master, I’ll conquer all of the Slayer energies. I’ll definitely become a great slayer. After getting to the centre of the cave, I can see the surroundings. A huge rock, like a slab was placed in front of me, with an altar like structure before me. The walls of the cave were full of holes, and there were windows, and people stood there, anxious.

It can’t be something like, precautions in case I rampage, right? No way. Right?

“Take off your shirt. Then lie down” (Miras)

Master pats the altar. I take off my shirt and lie down on it. Cold. The mood seems heavy. Master, don’t do this! I feel really scared now.

She takes out some tube like things from a compartment in the altar. It was black, and about 7cm long, I guess? They had a white sheen.

“What’s that master?” (Yuuya)

“Scales from the first slayer.” (Master)

Scales? Oh right. The Slayer became what he killed, meaning his skin became like scales. Maybe the Counter absorption might be in them.

“They’ll forcefully inject the energy into your system. We’ll release it from those holes, and this room will be thick with the energy. It’ll all enter into you, all at a time, so be sure to try and control it. We’ll heal you if something goes bad, but try not to let the mana corrode your mind. Once you feel like you’re in control, just knock on the wooden part on the wall, thrice. Understand?” (Miras)

Master says so, with a grim expression on her face. I nod. She nods back.

“Then, bear with me for a while” (Miras)

It hurt. Master plunges the tube into my forearm, and it goes in, as if my skin was butter.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

“Ugyaaaa!!” (Yuuya)

I yell out. But no. This is nothing compared to the turtle. I just need grit my teeth face it.

I steel my nerves, and the next one comes in, on my other hand.  The pain was horrible. But I just grind my teeth and lay there, bearing it. Master helps me stand up, and plunges two more in, on each of the shoulder blades on my back. It hurt. It hurt a lot.

But the last one was unexpected. All of a sudden, a familiar feeling came to me. The earth spike of the turtle, felt a lot like this, didn’t it?

A tube pierced into my heart. I couldn’t even yell, just shock. My mind was losing consciousness….

*SLAP*

Master slaps my cheek, and I return back, wide awake. That was bad. I almost fainted there.

“The real pain is just starting. Good luck, my disciple” (Miras)

She walks off, saying so. After she exits the cave, Arcus san shuts the cave with the cave.

Dark. I can’t see a thing. But I can feel something. A something.

It was sudden. It gushed into my body, and I couldn’t help but start screaming. It hurt to that extent.

I see. Real pain huh. True. This is much worse.

******Arcus’s POV******

That kid was a good one. I met him a few days back, and I was unsure how to deal with him. He followed me and Gil when we were going for a hunt. I didn’t stop him, but checked from time to time to see if he was alright.

Good. We showed off plenty to the kid. Gil especially. He could have wiped out the wolves in a second, but he chose to do flashy movements. What a show off. Well, can’t say I didn’t too.

I noticed the bear approaching from a while ago, and I let it.

As soon as it got close, I rushed in with my axe to kill it. Ah. The kid’s looking at me with admiration. It feels kinda nice.

I walked with him to the village, carrying the house. Miras san gave him an absurd task, but I can see why she gave it to him. She wanted him to get friendly with us, and for us to get someone to talk to. What a good person. She acts as if she’s a demon though. She thinks it’s her fault we were banished, but even we supported her. And that’s because the god she slew was not deserving of its title.

Ah. He looks happy when he sees our village. Me too. I feel so happy when I see it.

Such a good young lad.

But now, I can hear him screaming. I want to shut my ears, but I can’t do it. Everyone here knows what it means to do that. They all sat near the entrance, with grim expressions. Maybe I look like that too. Miras san looks a lot older, and she’s sitting a ways off, with a worried expression on her face.

I hope that child will be fine…. But taking on five at once is a bit too reckless.  But we respect everyone’s choices, no matter how reckless they may be. Because everyone has their pride. Even that child has his pride. And I’ll respect it.

******Yuuya’s POV******

Pain. That sensation covers all my senses. I can’t feel anything else. Neither the cold hard floor, nor my body.

I desperately try to focus, but the pain overrides everything. It makes me feel like my mind has been torn apart.

My body has already been torn to shreds more than a couple of times, but something warm always fixes it. Occasionally, my nerves burst, but that warm feeling always fixes it. Might be healing magic.

I can feel the multiple energies rampaging in my body. Their rampage is what’s causing my body to self destruct continuously.

I admit, I might’ve been a bit rash, since I wanted to control five energies at once. It was too much for me. But I know. I can’t give up just because of this. The forest taught me something. My weakness. It etched it into my heart. I can’t just give up now. If I give up now, when will I get stronger?

I try to focus again. But again, it was disturbed by the rampaging energy.

Maybe my approach is wrong. I need to ignore the pain, and think calmly.

Instead of subduing all at once, I should concentrate on subduing it one by one. Master had told me about subduing multiple energies. I need to make one of them as my main energies, and subjugate the others one by one. My influence on them lessens by every step, but that’s the only way. I’m still a normal student. If I want to become a cheat character without the summoning circles and what not, this is the only way.

I try to sense the characteristics of each energy, to find the best method to subdue them. Of course the first one I decide to subdue is the Chaos energy.

Not because it’s a wild card, because it’s the most troublesome one. It’s like a support character, encouraging the rampaging of the beasts, and disrupting my concentration.

I try to focus on it. I can visualise it. A huge swirl of energy, completely erratic, and without any patterns. No order, only Chaos.

Subduing this  might be harder than I thought.

I have no sense of time in this cave, but I know a lot of time has passed. Still, the Chaos energy persistently swirls around, and I can’t control it.

I try to rack my brain for all the instructions given to me. None of them apply to this. Because this is not something that follows rules. Its made to break all the rules.

Wait. There’s one. Not an instruction, but the basic idea of a Slayer.

Become thy enemy

That’s right. A slayer doesn’t subjugate an enemy with his own skills, but the enemy’s skills.

I accept it. The chaos. I burn the idea into my mind. Everything is chaos. Rules are broken. Everything is possible. The chaos energy slowly merges with my mana flow. Slowly, bit by bit. Its gonna take some time. But I know I can do it. Because that’s my only choice.

A long time has passed. I can feel it. Finally, the Chaos energy has merged into my mana, completely. I seal it up in my mana pool, completely cutting off it’s supply.

Right. The next one now.
