Chapter 31 - Crimson Eyes (2)

Chapter 31 - Crimson Eyes (2)

Marshmallow and the Goat Horse found themselves facing off against the opposing leader, a figure who did nothing but laugh like an idiot, yet emitted a mighty aura. They couldn't know his stats or level, but they could feel a difference in their gut that made them feel like minnows in front of a shark.

"This dude... is dangerous," Marshmallow whispered to the Goat Horse, clenching his fists, trying to mask the anxiety coursing through his limbs. The Goat Horse could only gulp. Taking a deep breath, Marshmallow gathered his courage and stepped forward.

Let's go get him.

"Ah, ah, ah!" The enemy leader let out a guttural laugh. "Look who we have here. Two absurd idiots ready to be crushed." He stood with his arms crossed and legs spread apart as if to suggest from the start that they had no chance of survival. Marshmallow gritted his teeth, holding a fiery gaze of determination.

"You're nobody. Bring it on," Marshmallow exclaimed. The Goat Horse nodded firmly.

"Ah, ah, ah! How bold! Too bad I'm the king of the Gear Savannah, the king of this battlefield, and you're just pawns to be moved at my whim," replied the enemy leader in a mocking tone.

Marshmallow clenched his fists, feeling the anger rising within him. "We'll see who's the pawn in the end, self-proclaimed king."

The Goat Horse nodded firmly. "We won't bend so easily. We're here to fight, not to surrender."

The enemy leader raised his arms. "So... die!"

Flashes of light began to charge in the leader's hands. Marshmallow stared determinedly at his opponent, feeling the adrenaline pulsing through his veins. "Time to get serious," he said firmly, gesturing to the Goat Horse.

The Goat Horse nodded, transforming into his equine form to allow Marshmallow to climb onto his back. "I'm ready when you are," he said, his breath heavy in the cold air.

Marshmallow smoothly pulled out the Titan Hammer from the amulet, feeling the weight of the weapon in his hands. "Our goal is to take him down," he said determinedly, gripping the hammer's handle. "We'll hit hard and fast, then look for a chance to bail. We can't afford to stay here and fight it out to the bitter end."

The Goat Horse nodded, reflecting Marshmallow's determination in his gaze. "Yeah, we gotta be quick and crafty. Can't get dragged into a prolonged brawl."

Marshmallow geared up, feeling the excitement building within him. "Let's do this!" he said firmly, pointing the Titan Hammer at the enemy.

The metallic sound of the Titan Hammer crashing against the ground echoed in the air as Marshmallow and the Goat Horse geared up for the showdown. The enemy leader eyed them with disdain, a smirk of challenge dancing on his lips.

"If you come to play, be ready to lose," he said mockingly, his hands poised to unleash chaos.

Marshmallow gripped the Titan Hammer tightly, his heart pounding in his chest as he prepared for the imminent battle. "Bring it on, let's see what you've got," he responded with determination, his gaze locked on the enemy.

The Goat Horse let out a challenging neigh, promptly transforming into his bulkier form, ready to withstand the impending assault. "We're not here to play, we're here to win," he said firmly, his voice resonating in the cold air.

The first ray was hurled by the enemy leader. Marshmallow could only deflect it with his Titan Hammer while the Goat Horse began circling their foe. The blast was powerful; Marshmallow could barely deflect it.

What the hell is this? It's worse than a cannon shot! How do I even tackle this? I won't see the next one coming. I need more perception; this is an emergency.

So Marshmallow decided to use all 31 exp points he had. With a thought, he allocated all his points to perception, boosting the stat from 16 to 47.

At that exact moment, Marshmallow felt like a whole new person. Sounds became sharper, vision clearer, and it was as if he had the nose of a dog. At that precise moment, Marshmallow had almost tripled his perception. Now he didn't feel like the prey of that damn leader anymore, but the predator.

The enemy leader's laser beams sliced through the air, causing devastating explosions as they tried to hit the protagonists. Marshmallow and the Goat Horse darted back and forth, and now Marshmallow could clearly see the enemy's laser beams and deflect them with great effectiveness.

They went on the offensive. Now they could charge at him, Marshmallow could see the attacks, and he could face them. But as they charged, the leader vanished into thin air in a flash.

"Huh? Where'd he go?" Marshmallow and the Goat Horse wondered.

The enemy leader's laser beam cut through the air with frightening speed, hitting Marshmallow and the Goat Horse with lethal precision. However, a fraction of a second before impact, Marshmallow, with reflexes as sharp as blades thanks to the increased perception, raised the Titan Hammer and swiftly deflected the beam. The deflected shot veered off from its deadly trajectory and sliced through the air with a hiss, shooting off in an unknown direction.

"Not bad, not bad at all," the leader admitted with a hint of surprise in his voice as he watched Marshmallow and the Goat Horse with a disdainful gaze. For the first time, he wasn't laughing; instead, he seemed pretty pissed off. "You can really see my moves. Few can do that, but know that this won't last long."

Marshmallow gritted his teeth as he kept his gaze firmly locked on the enemy. "We won't give up easily," he retorted firmly. "We're ready for anything."

The Goat Horse nodded, his breath heavy in the sweltering air. "We're here to beat you, no matter how strong you are."

The enemy leader shook his head with a challenging smile. He had resumed laughing like an idiot. "Ah, ah, ah! We'll see how confident you are when I get serious," he threatened mockingly. "It's time to test you. And I think you'll be surprised by my true powers."

Marshmallow tightened his grip on his Titan Hammer even harder, determination shining in his eyes. "No matter what your true powers are, we'll face them with everything we've got!"

The Goat Horse nodded vigorously once more. "Yeah, we'll never back down! We're here to defeat you, whatever you are!"

The enemy leader shook his head with a sinister grin. "How bold! But you'll see, you'll now experience what it truly means to face my wrath!"

Marshmallow and the Goat Horse braced themselves for the worst, knowing that the real fight was about to begin. The air around the enemy leader began to vibrate, every pore of his being emanating a sinister energy. Marshmallow and the Goat Horse watched with growing unease, instinctively realizing that the enemy had become more powerful in an instant.

Marshmallow gritted his teeth, feeling the adrenaline coursing through his veins as he assessed the new threat. "This isn't good," he muttered to himself, looking at the enemy with a mix of determination and apprehension.

The Goat Horse watched as the enemy leader powered up. He felt doomed when something unexpected happened. Before the leader could unleash his dreadful powers, a sudden shot hit him from afar, sending him crashing to the ground with a dull thud. Marshmallow and the Goat Horse spun around, trying to figure out what had happened. They saw nothing and no one.

"It must have been Samanteye!" Marshmallow exclaimed, a mix of surprise and gratitude in his voice. "She must have hidden somewhere a few miles away and used her skill to hit the enemy dead on."

The Goat Horse nodded. "Incredible, if it weren't for that girl... I can't even imagine what would have happened."

Marshmallow and the Goat Horse made the most of the opportunity provided by Samanteye's intervention. Without looking back, they quickly distanced themselves from the scene of the battle, the hooves of the Goat Horse's equine form echoing in the Gear Savannah.

"Mission accomplished!" Marshmallow yelled to the Goat Horse, his heart still pounding with adrenaline. "Now we need to get as far away from the enemy leader as possible!"

The Goat Horse breathed heavily in the sweltering heat as he quickened his pace. "Alright, let's go, buddy! Can't believe we made it out in one piece. So, are we heading to the place Samanteye mentioned?"

"Yeah," Marshmallow replied firmly. "Let's go to the Tower of Metal Moose. Let's find her!"
