Chapter 26 - Hunting the Grimgoat (3)

Chapter 26 - Hunting the Grimgoat (3)

The battle was an unstoppable whirlwind of action. Marshmallow, taking on the Grimgoat, moved with astounding agility, dodging the beast's ferocious blows. Each attack from the Grimgoat felt as powerful as a hurricane, but Marshmallow, with his cunning and bravery, responded with equal if not greater intensity. In the midst of the battle, Marshmallow noticed a change in the behavior of the zombie goats. Initially scattered and disorganized, they were now approaching in a more coordinated manner, almost forming a circle around the Grimgoat.

"What the hell is happening? Goat Horse, are you sleeping?" Marshmallow exclaimed, parrying another savage attack. The goats, with their vacant eyes, seemed magnetically drawn to the Grimgoat. But they were also hesitant, as if in conflict with themselves.

The Goat Horse, observing the scene, shouted, "Marshmallow, they’ve stopped targeting me! They saw the Grimgoat in trouble and came to its aid, but the tune hasn’t changed, they don’t know whether to rebel or help! Use this situation to your advantage."

Marshmallow cast a lightning-fast glance at the Goat Horse, dodging a blow from the Grimgoat. "Couldn’t you use that purple move? What was it called?"

"The Galactic Purple Destroyer?" the Goat Horse replied, dashing around the zombie goats with agility.

"That's the one! Why don't we get rid of these damn goats once and for all?" Marshmallow shouted, keeping a zombie goat at bay with a lateral blow from his hammer. "I've got the Grimgoat under control, but if these goats attack me, I’m screwed!"

The Goat Horse laughed, though with a bitter tone. "Do you think I'm some kind of god or something? These goats are too strong for that move, buddy. It's not like playing video games!"

"What do you mean?" Marshmallow asked, parrying another attack from the Grimgoat.

"It’s not that simple, Marshmallow!" The Goat Horse replied while continuing to gallop around the goats. "That move doesn’t work on creatures of this level. These zombie goats are too powerful, a whole different story compared to the Evolveroaches. I wouldn’t even scratch them, it would be like throwing stones at a tank."

Goat Horse, you’re the embodiment of uselessness…

Marshmallow could only sigh and facepalm. Why couldn’t Goat Horse have mentioned this earlier? He had no choice but to stick with the original plan: somehow destabilize the zombie goats. He began to move in a way that steered the Grimgoat toward the group of zombie goats. Every move of the Grimgoat became more uncertain, almost disturbed by the presence of the goats.

"Let's turn the tables then," Marshmallow exclaimed, focusing his attention on the interaction between the Grimgoat and the goats. With a well-aimed hit, he pushed the Grimgoat towards the center of the circle of goats. The goats began to timidly attack him, until one by one they surrounded the Grimgoat.

The Grimgoat, finding itself encircled, roared in frustration, its movements becoming increasingly chaotic. The zombie goats, responding to an unknown call, began to approach the creature emitting guttural sounds.

"They're acting as a disturbance, slowing down its movements!" The Goat Horse observed, surprised by the effectiveness of their improvised strategy. Meanwhile, he had returned to his humanoid form and remained on the sidelines. He couldn't do anything but cheer for Marshmallow. If he had entered the fray, he would have been reduced to minced meat.

Marshmallow took advantage of the confusion to strike the Grimgoat with even greater precision, but the Grimgoat parried the blow. It wouldn't go down so easily. Each hit of his hammer was accompanied by a chorus of moans from the zombie goats, creating a surreal and unsettling atmosphere.

The fight between Marshmallow and the Grimgoat intensified, while the zombie goats became more aggressive towards their master. It was as if they had recognized in the Grimgoat the source of their torment and were now somehow trying to rebel.

"The Grimgoat is losing control over them!" Marshmallow shouted, hitting the creature with another powerful hammer blow. "They're switching to our side!"

The zombie goats, now completely out of control, attacked the Grimgoat with blind fury, allowing Marshmallow to focus on direct attacks. The battle, once dominated by the unstoppable power of the Grimgoat, was now turning in favor of Marshmallow thanks to the unexpected intervention of the zombie goats.

In the midst of the battle's chaos, Marshmallow realized a strategic turning point. The growing aggression of the zombie goats towards the Grimgoat wasn't just an impediment for the beast but also provided a unique opportunity.

The goats, driven by instinct and confusion, began to assault the Grimgoat from every side, drastically limiting its ability to move and attack. Marshmallow, taking advantage of the situation, cautiously moved in closer.

"Your reign of terror ends here, Grimgoat!" he exclaimed, raising the hammer for a decisive blow.

The Grimgoat, trapped and overwhelmed, desperately tried to fend off the zombie goats. However, the constant pressure from the creatures, combined with Marshmallow's strategic skill, began to visibly weaken it.

"He's losing strength," The Goat Horse noted, encouraging Marshmallow. "It's your moment, finish him!"

With a battle cry, Marshmallow struck the Grimgoat with all his might, targeting the previously discovered weak spot. His hammer hit with surgical precision, staggering the beast. The Grimgoat let out a howl of pain and rage as Marshmallow's attack hit its most vulnerable point. Then he struck again, and again, and yet again. The imposing figure of the Grimgoat began to stumble, its strength rapidly fading under the combined assault of Marshmallow and the zombie goats.

"Die, beast!" Marshmallow exclaimed, striking once more. "You're finished!" The Goat Horse, maintaining a distance, offered moral and tactical support, guiding Marshmallow in the critical moments. The battle, which had started as a desperate fight for survival, was turning into an extraordinary victory.

Now clearly weakened and overwhelmed, the Grimgoat seemed aware of its imminent defeat. Its initial fury turned into a struggle to maintain its menacing presence. Marshmallow, sensing victory within reach, gathered every last bit of strength he had. With a final shout of determination, he raised the Titan Hammer and brought it down in a finishing blow, aimed to end the Grimgoat's reign of terror.

The woods were enveloped in palpable tension as Marshmallow prepared for the decisive blow. The Grimgoat, weakened and trapped, was now a shadow of the terror it once instilled. Marshmallow, with the Titan Hammer ready, stared at the Grimgoat. "This is for all the evil you've caused," he said, his voice a mix of anger and resolve.

The Grimgoat growled lowly, but it was clear that its end was near. The zombie goats continued to assail it, limiting every possibility of defense or escape.

From a distance, the Goat Horse watched with a mix of anxiety and hope. "Do it, Marshmallow! End this nightmare!" With a powerful cry, Marshmallow tensed every muscle in his body, raised the hammer, and brought it down with all the force he had. The blow struck the Grimgoat again on its right side, sending a shockwave echoing through the woods.

The Grimgoat let out a desperate howl, the sound of a vile beast's lament. Its imposing figure began to falter, its strength leaving it. Marshmallow, not losing a moment, struck again and again, each blow a hammer of justice breaking the chain of darkness the Grimgoat had brought to the forest.

As the battle neared its end, the Goat Horse approached, ready to help if needed. The zombie goats had begun to clear a path, knowing Marshmallow's relentless strikes would suffice. "It's almost over, Marshmallow! Keep going!"

Now reduced to little more than a wounded and confused beast, the Grimgoat attempted one last, feeble attack. But Marshmallow, armed with courage and strength, easily parried it. With another shout of defiance, Marshmallow raised the hammer for the last time. "For the forest and for all those you've made suffer," he said, and with a powerful and definitive blow, he brought the hammer down, striking the Grimgoat directly on its caprine skull.

CRASH!

The blow was fatal. The Grimgoat collapsed to the ground, lifeless. It let out one last, faint lament before collapsing, its enormous body dissolving into a cloud of darkness that slowly vanished into the air.

Silence fell over the forest, broken only by Marshmallow's heavy breathing and the rustle of leaves. The imposing figure of the Grimgoat was gone, leaving behind only an echo of what it had been.

Marshmallow, exhausted but triumphant, lowered the hammer, looking at the spot where the Grimgoat once stood. "It's over," he said, hardly believing his own words.

The Goat Horse approached, placing a hand on Marshmallow's shoulder. "You did it, buddy. You saved the forest."

Looking around, Marshmallow saw the zombie goats, now devoid of the Grimgoat's dark presence, who seemed disoriented, almost pacified. The threat had been defeated, and a new chapter could begin for the forest and its inhabitants.

"We won," Marshmallow said, a tired but happy smile lighting up his face. "We really won."

Marshmallow let the Titan Hammer fall to the ground. With a dry thud, he collapsed to the ground, feeling almost out of strength. At that point, a screen appeared before his eyes.
