Chapter 37: A Match Made in Heaven

Chapter 37: A Match Made in Heaven

I didn’t expect Xiao Zi Xing to know anything about matchmaking, something that even Su Qing couldn’t do.

Xiao Zi Xing gave a wry smile and said, “I learned a few things from your grandfather. It’s just for fun, though, nothing professional.”

But Su Qing wasn’t having any of that. She crossed her arms and said, “Fine, give me your best shot. But if you screw it up, I’ll knock you out with two elbows.”

Xiao Zi Xing’s face instantly turned pale, and he wiped the sweat off his forehead. “I’ll try my best...” he muttered.

I could see that, if Su Qing really did use those elbows, Xiao Zi Xing wasn’t going to survive it, so he had to get this right. He took our birthdates and looked them over carefully.

After a while, he went silent. I looked at him and asked, “What’s the matter? Are you that scared? Is it because you think Su Qing and I are destined to be like fire and water, constantly fighting?”

Su Qing immediately retorted, “What do you mean ‘fighting’? I’m the one getting beaten up!”

But Xiao Zi Xing shook his head and said, “No, no... Looking at your birth charts, this is... a match made in heaven. I don’t think even the God of Marriage could come up with a better pairing.”

Su Qing went ballistic. “What? Me and him? A match made in heaven? I knew it! You two are just trying to fool me! If you can’t explain this, you’re going to regret it!”

I understood now why Xiao Zi Xing was scared. If he couldn’t justify this, he was going to get an elbow to the face.

However, to my surprise, Xiao Zi Xing didn’t back down. He sounded confident as he explained.

“From your five elements,” Xiao Zi Xing began, “your birth chart has an abundance of fire but lacks water. Su Qing’s, on the other hand, has too much water and lacks fire. Together, fire and water balance each other out. You complement each other, forming harmony between Yin and Yang. If you two get married, you’ll have a happy, loving relationship, with children, a successful career, and everything will fall into place.”

He continued, “Looking at your day stems, your ‘spouse palace’—for you, it’s Metal, and for Su Qing, it’s Wood. Your elements are perfectly balanced. And, looking at the rest of the chart, while Su Qing’s chart has a lot of conflicts and mine is strong in ‘food and wealth stars,’ together, we counterbalance the negative and transform the bad into good. This is the kind of chart that can only be called ‘a match made in heaven.’”

Su Qing and I were both stunned. I had thought Xiao Zi Xing was just babbling, but now he sounded like a real expert. Even Su Qing couldn’t find a retort.

“No way,” Su Qing muttered, still in disbelief. “Me and him? A match made in heaven?” She was shaking her head, not willing to accept it.

I sneered, “I don’t know about ‘heavenly,’ but just because you’re a tiger doesn’t mean you’re a tiger queen. Even if you look good, you’re still a ‘tiger’ at the end of the day.”

At that moment, Xiao Zi Xing raised an eyebrow. “Does Su Qing have a twin sister?”

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

I was taken aback, and so was Su Qing. “Yeah, I do. Why?”

“Well, if you’re a match made in heaven, then your twin sister’s chart is identical to yours,” Xiao Zi Xing said with a grin.

I stared at him, a little confused. “Wait... What does that mean? If Su Qing has a twin sister with the same chart, does that mean she and I are also a match made in heaven?”

Xiao Zi Xing scratched his head, seemingly a little unsure. “Well, if her sister’s chart is exactly the same, it means... it’s not just Su Qing, but her twin sister too... So technically, it’s one match with three people.”

Su Qing immediately jumped in with a laugh. “See? I knew it! You messed up!” She looked triumphant, like a cat who had just caught a mouse.

Xiao Zi Xing looked flustered, unsure of how to respond. “Ah... Well, maybe I made a mistake...” he said meekly.

Su Qing took advantage of the situation and gave him a playful smack on the head. “See? You’re not so good after all, huh?”

Xiao Zi Xing rubbed his head, clearly regretting his earlier bravado. His head was already swelling, and I could tell this would be the last time he tried to read birth charts without knowing what he was doing.

Just then, a sleek Maserati pulled up outside, and a stunning woman stepped out of the car. Behind her were two burly bodyguards dressed in black suits.

The woman was dressed in a white gown, exuding an air of elegance and cold superiority. She walked straight into the tattoo shop, completely ignoring me. Her gaze locked onto Su Qing without a second glance at me.

I figured she was a customer, so I went up to her with a smile. “Hello, welcome! What kind of tattoo are you interested in?”

To my surprise, she snorted dismissively and said, “Not interested. Move aside. I’m here to see Miss Su Qing.”

I was furious. What? This was my shop, and she just told me to move aside? If it weren’t for her being a woman, I would’ve kicked her out.

But she completely ignored my anger and walked past me to stand in front of Su Qing. “Miss Su Qing, please tell the Old Master that we need him tonight at the Dai family’s ancestral tomb. There are important matters to discuss. Many experts will be present. If someone can break the curse on our Dai family tomb, we will offer a reward of one million.”

One million? That was enough to pay for ten ghost tattoos. I had no idea what was going on, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I was about to ask more questions, but for now, I decided to keep my cool and make a little money.

“Excuse me, Miss, I’m a descendant of the ghost tattoo tradition. I’m also an expert in Yin tattoos. Can I come along?” I asked earnestly.

She didn’t even spare me a glance, let alone answer. Instead, she coldly responded, “Hmph. What ghost tattoo? I’ve never heard of such a thing. Are you trying to pretend to be some kind of master? One million isn’t that easy to get. You think you can just show up and claim the reward?”

Her arrogance hit me hard, but I didn’t say anything. I was here for the money, after all.

Su Qing, on the other hand, had no problem handling her. “I’ll let the Old Master know,” she said, cool and collected.

“Thank you. I still have other people to notify. Goodbye,” the woman said, turning to leave without even acknowledging my presence, her face as expressionless as ever—like a piece of ice.

I was burning with anger. “Who does she think she is? Acting so high and mighty?” I muttered to no one in particular, though I’d have kicked her out if not for Su Qing.

Xiao Zi Xing chimed in from the side, “You don’t know her? That’s Dai Jie Ying, the granddaughter of the Dai family. The Dai family is one of the most prestigious families in Zhonghai. She’s a well-known ice queen.”

Ice queen? More like a “face freeze” monster. What was so special about her just because she came from a wealthy family? The more I thought about it, the more annoyed I became. But the mention of one million piqued my interest. What exactly was going on with this Dai family tomb?

Su Qing nodded thoughtfully. “I’ve heard of them. The Dai family was once one of the top families in Zhonghai, but over the past few decades, they’ve been on a steady decline. Now, they’re barely hanging on as a second-tier family.”

She paused, then added, “I’ve also heard a couple of strange rumors about them. For instance, whenever the Dai family opens a restaurant, a horrible stench like rotting flesh starts coming from it, but no one can figure out the source. It’s a smell no one can tolerate. As a result, all of their restaurants have failed.”

This was definitely getting more and more interesting. A family curse, an ancient tomb, and one million in reward. This sounded like a mystery I couldn’t pass up.
