Chapter 21: A Fire That Starts A Story.

A force from my side pushes me, then a loud boom follows. I hit the wall not far from me and hit my head hard making me grab the back of my head in pain. I look around and see that Marcus and Jasmine are heading towards a secret exit.

I look at where the explosion happened I see bright red lights shining through the smoke, gunfire then followed the recognition of who they were. I stand up sluggishly and look towards the two that are fleeing. They back at me and mouth out the words that I bever want to hear from people I would have cared about.

“Die in hell in you traitor and never say the name of Arthor knight again”

Anger, pure anger fills me with those words being mouthed even though I couldn’t hear them the helmet deciphered what was said. I reach for my pistol and pull it out and go to shot at them but before I could I was tackled.

The light of red flashes my vison slightly, “We need them alive for Jackson I am sorry but you can’t yet kill them” the man says I grit my teeth in even more anger, he lets off a little and stands to shoot at one of the spec-ops guys in the room.

I stand and grab my knife and the man pistol. I point it at one the spec-ops and fire twice hitting him in the shoulder and right lung area. I turn and walk the way I had come from seeing a door leading into the same room all the spec-ops guys are held in. I go to open it but find it locked.

I turn to the man earlier who had tackled me and wave him over, he makes his way over and looks at the door noticing what I had noticed earlier, “Nice find” I nod my head to pissed even to talked, “I am going to flash and bang it get ready” I nod again he shoots the door handle and pushes the door open and throws the Flashbang in there.

A loud pop and flash comes from the crack, he kicks opens the door and moves in, I walk in next seeing people rubbing their eyes and holding their ears. The man shoots some people and I follow suit but also using my knife for some by stabbing them through the back of their neck flowing blood into their lungs if they breath and drowning them in their own blood.

Looking around see that most are dead or drowning in a pool of their own blood, further up were dead spec ops that were most likely killed by the rest of the people in the tunnel that was revealed in an explosive manor. I walk over to the dude who had tackled me, “Good Job we will leave soon after we gather info and the like” he place a drive in a port on one of the consoles sitting in the room, “Jackson sent you here as soon as I left didn’t he?” the man turns around hearing what I had said but then turns back to the console to collect the drive and places it in his pocket.

He then walks past me and towards the tunnel, “Follow us and you will get your questions answered that is what Jackson wanted me to tell you” At this point I want questions answered not anymore being left unanswered so I follow him.

We enter the tunnel and it is really spacious from a usual tunnel would be if it were dug quickly but this I can tell time effort was put in. we start to walk and as we reach roughly a Kilometre away a explosion is heard I look to see what exploded, “We set up explosives to collapse the tunnel so that we won’t be followed” I look and continue to walk with hearing explosives going off along the way until the sight of unfinished building reaching the sky.

I walk over to the house we made and walk to the lounge room turned room, “I am glad you came back although it would have been better with the other two to be back as well” I can teel with out looking that he is devastated to hear the two are dead, many things must be going through his head at this moment but I just can’t feel angry at him, “Why just why did you not tell us a thing about you being in Rebel army” I move a chair and fall back into the seat I usually sat in.

“Why did you not do anything when the problem at wick happened just why did you keep so much a secret” he breaths in and sighs, “I was scared” I look over at him seeing that he had lowered his head, “I was scared that I would lose you three because of what you thought of army” I can sort of understand where he is coming from what we had learned about the rebel army it was a lot of negative and that kind of stuff, but it has come to me now but what is the name of the faction? “And the biggest problem is that the bombing of city the Mark told you was blamed on us so in eyes of the public we were classified as a group trying to destroy the empire even though the leaders tried to deny the fact that they were involved” I can see the grip on his fist get tighter, “Those noble house’s will not last after this war we will make sure of it” he lifts his head up his eyes full of anger.

He sighs and rubs his eyes and apologies for going off topic and quiet fills the room leaving only the sounds of the fire and air conditioning, “Does that answer all of your questions?” I shake my head only having two I want answered, “Why did go to such lengths to get me away from Nathans to even plant a fake body” he narrows his eyes thinking back at that I presume, “It was a mission I was on as we had information that Alex your father had a son and I saw a light for the Group to succeed” so I was grabbed to be used as propaganda although it have been the same for if I stayed with Nobels and such.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

“However we did plan on having you be a centre piece for propaganda and such I wanted a disciple to pass on my teachings as I did not lie about training your dad” I widen my eyes hearing that I thought all he said was fake but I am starting to have second doubts, “I was distort when I heard he had died as my time was coming and I wanted to relax for the last twenty or so years of my life then-” he started to cough and badly at that I immediately hoped out my chair and grabbed him a glass of water for him to drink.

I handed him the cup and he scoffed it down in seconds, his breathing sounded raspy, “What do you mean by your last twenty years to live?” I helped him sit up straight and sat down this time closer to make sure I there faster to help, “I have frost lung a disease some mad man made it affects your lungs by slowly lowering the temperature of that particular area which in turns lowers the amount of blood heading there I think the doctor said or something I don’t know I am not one so I don’t understand but I am freezing up from the inside out” I am lost for words at first I found him guilty for all the events happening but he just wanted simple things yet I destroyed that opportunity to have his final years around his student, niece and nephew.

“I’m sorry I left” he looks over at me, “I left and now Merry and Mark are dead and I find this out on top of having people I wanted to see go ahead and think I am not me this is all happening because of-” before I finished a hand patted my head, “Not all of it is your fault most of the blame can be put on me as well so in reality it is both our fault that this happened but mainly mine for letting this happen” I start to have tears to form just thinking about what happened today.

“You do not need to blame yourself for what had happened but get better at a talent so that this never happens again” I lump forward planting my head into my hands, rubbing my face and hair, “What was second question” he asks as he sits back to his normal posture, it was originally going to be why did you train me but it has changed from that.

“What can I do to improve my skills in being a sniper” I ask he looks at me with surprise, I think he not expecting me to continue to learn under him, “If my father was trained by you and he became the most notorious sniper then I also want to follow his steps” Jackson looked aghast from what he is hearing, he then begin to smirk and laugh even though it may be a hard situation for him having lost a bit of the already small family he has or only family has.

His laughter dies down just leaving him smiling from ear to ear, “I needed some Joy and a light to light the dark that has filled the world around me recently” he picks up a cup and drinks it, “fine if you wish to learn you will have to join the army of the Free court Faction fighting this civil war” Free Court Faction? Is that the name of the army responsible for the start of the civil war and why are they called that, “Free court are runed by people who have served in the royal guard of the empress but went off to start a movement that lead to this army being formed” Royal guard like people who protect kings and queens are the main people who revolted, this is when you know the cause is for a good reason and some stupid one.

One thing after another starts to make sense, this war is fought by so many groups not just Rebels and State but groups like Free court, the nobles and so many more, now that I think on it more the helmet colours of the people who blew into the command room did not have red as the colour but none just plain old nothing unlike the first two I killed they had red as the colour of choice.

“Now if you want to learn to be a sniper under me you are going to go through hell” I narrow my eyes at that, what is more hellish then what I have been through already I am starting to rethink my choice of choosing him, “But before we do the training we must move from this city and head to a place more suitable for your training to be done” I sigh looking around this place thinking what is going to happen to it, “This place is going to go up in flames” I understand why, this place has value to us being a place we had made together so in order to not have a problem of this place being used as a trap we might as well destroy it now and save ourselves the trouble later down the line.

“You’re going to be trained for a while maybe 2 years or so to get everything in you or a year but I doubt all of what I can teach is going to make sense to you but in that time the way you think about approaching things will be more calculated, your movements refined to the bone for efficiency over all else, your aim to be so accurate that only vitals will be hit no matter what, and all of it will be done in top most secrecy in order for information not to leak” he finishes his long explanation of what I am going to be doing for this long period of time but if it means I get closer to my goal and to protect people important to me then I am all for it.

“After this training you will be a trained killer of a high degree you won’t meet people for a while as the training is being conducted but I want you to push through that loneliness that will come from it” I become more resolved to go through it, I will twenty when I leave the training or nine-teen. I breath in and hold my hand tight, “I am willing to go through all of it so might as well start now” he smiles and stands with some struggle but does so and looks at me with his smile still plastering his face.

“Then I officially grant you title of Snow Sniper trainee under Snow Hunter Regiment welcome to the cause my fellow” I stand and shake Jackson’s hand who has now become my superior, we pour petrol all over the house and stand by the door ready to leave with all of stuff ready.

Jackson flicks a match that has been lit on to the trail in front of us, the fire spreads at a rapid rate consuming the house’s little areas. We step out the door and close it and begin our journey to a random spot in the empire to train me. I look back seeing a smoke pillar start to form, memories from when I was with Mark and Merry with us being happy and being ignorant to the world’s problems. If I could go back and go relive those times I would faster than pursuing my dream.

I look forward seeing the vast white desert in front of me and prepare myself. This is where I my journey begins.
