Chapter Twenty-Three: War

Chapter Twenty-Three: War

“The day is upon us, my friend. The month concludes at the breaking of this dawn. The first light in the sky, will signal the fall of England.” Rancour observed, as the first light of dawn entered the sky.

“Prepare the armies.” Rancour commanded, as he leapt off the mountain peak, appearing upon the border between Haevaria and Adaeria instantaneously.

As the soldiers of all three nations gathered upon the border, King Raúl stared at Rancour, as the two walked to meet one another.

“It’s a cold morning. How are you fairing with it?” Rancour asked.

“Not well, perhaps we ought to go somewhere else.” Raúl suggested.

“Are you sure we shouldn’t make these people suffer? It would be quite fun to destroy this entire planet.” Rancour taunted.

“I wasn’t asking.” Raúl replied, picking Rancour up and hurling him into space, punching him away with a force that shook the entirety of the Solar System.

Flying through the universe together Raúl ragdolled Rancour, punching him with fists infused with Interior and Exterior, detonating tiny Medians across his entire body, as they slammed into what was seemingly a planet, as it began to fall apart due to their force.

The two travelled to another planet, landing upon its surface gracefully as they stared upon the stars in front of them.

“Do you know where we are, king?” Rancour asked briskly.

“Judging by the three stars, we are in the closest star system to our own.” Raúl replied, as they overlooked the beautiful sight before them.

Noticing a slight flicker, Raúl realised Momo had come to observe the battle, Raúl looked over to Rancour, whose red eyes were fixated on Momo as well.

“The vessel has come to watch you die, how kind of him.” Rancour commented sarcastically.

“He came to see you off to hell, I hope you’ll enjoy it there.” Raúl responded, drawing his sword.

“I’d say the same to you.” Rancour remarked, drawing his sword as well.

The two rushed at one another their swords flailing in the air, as shockwaves ruptured across the planet after each slash. Raúl grabbed at Rancour’s wrist, snapping it and disarming him, smiling as he stabbed him in the abdomen.

Rancour slammed his fist into Raúl’s face, disorienting him as he retracted the blade, throwing it away, raising his hands to fight, as Raúl mirrored the action. Rancour swung at Raúl, as the king weaved under both punches, slamming an Interior coated fist into his midsection, and hitting an uppercut to his jaw, staggering him as Raúl went for a high kick to Rancour’s jugular, which he blocked, grabbing Raúl’s leg and slamming him into the ground, causing the planet to shake violently as earthquakes ravaged the entire planet. Rancour rushed into Raúl, kicking him into the air and slamming him back down into the planet as he landed next to him, rushing towards him, as Raúl recovered, sidestepping Rancour and pulling him toward him with an Interior, as he punched him with it, flinging him away with an Exterior infused punch, detonating a small Median across his face.

Rancour stood up, brushing dust off of his garments, as he walked back to Raúl.

“You’re stronger than I expected, I’ll give you that.” Rancour observed.

“Time to make this fight more interesting.” Raúl declared.

“Spectral Dominion.” They both chanted.

“Axis of the Beyond.”

“Sanctum of the Vengeful.”

The Dominions opened, the barrier of Axis of the Beyond expanding to the radius of Sanctum of the Vengeful.

Raúl sprinted to Rancour, evading a high punch and kicking him in the knee, Rancour launched slashes, to which he blocked with his spatial distortion technique. Rancour attempted to hit Raúl with more punches, but Raúl amplified his technique, blasting Rancour with an Exterior to the face.

“Irgoth.” Rancour voiced, as a beast made of pure void emerged, charging at Raúl, who immediately flicked it away with an Exterior, focusing on Rancour. Ducking under a wayward punch, Raúl kicked Rancour in his ribs, spinning into a head kick which threw him across the Dominion.

Irgoth attempted to strike him from his blindside to which Raúl distorted time to be nullified within the space between them, as he knew space could not slow down nothingness. The beast towered above, standing at the size of a small building, and yet being so small in comparison to the giants that fought before it.

Concentrating Exterior, he formed a ball, launching it at the beast, ragdolling it around and throwing it into Rancour, disallowing him the ability to recover.

Raúl felt the barrier of his Dominion begin to crack, visualising its last seconds in his minds eye. He raised a resonance barrier immediately, as his Dominion collapsed. Uncountable slashes rained down upon Raúl as the resonance barrier immediately began to crack.

A rudimentary dominion, it’s not the best technique, but raising another resonance barrier after another will lead to burnout, just like my technique is becoming burnt out from raising my dominion, it’ll have to do. Raúl thought to himself, raising the rudimentary dominion as he rushed at Rancour.

The two traded blows, as Irgoth attempted to enter the battle, Raúl created a weakness upon its shoulder, leaping into the air and striking it at full output. Dealing 125 percent of its maximum power and decimating it as it began to regenerate.

The rudimentary dominion fell apart, instantly covering Raúl in slashes, that tore apart the very basis of his atoms, separating him at a subatomic level, as he slowly began losing power.

I cannot allow this, this monster will not rule the Earth whilst I have breath in my body.

Raúl charged at Rancour, reeling into his punch, as he coated it in Spectral Energy rather than either of his techniques. Rancour realised the chance Raúl was taking and attempted to move, but it was too late.

“Ardour’s Spark!” Raúl chanted as the bright flash sent out sparks of energy, throwing Rancour into the Sanctum, destroying the Dominion.

Raúl stood still, as his wounds closed, he turned his attention to Irgoth, the pest that was forcing him to expend vast quantities of Spectral Energy to set time around him to zero due to its properties. Raúl walked toward the beast, which swung down at him, to which he dodged easily. Creating multiple weaknesses on the beast, he struck it multiple times, watching as it regenerated the damage easily.

“Spec-” Raúl attempted to say, as Rancour broke through his Spatial Distortion technique, punching him in the back of the head, as the beast grabbed on to him, Raúl blasted Exterior into his arm, as he turned to face Rancour, being 50 percent stronger than before.

Raúl lunged at Rancour, weaving two punches and grabbing Rancour’s arm, pulling him into an Interior infused punch as he slammed him away with a maximum output Exterior. As Rancour recovered, he glared at Raúl, healing his wounds, as he retracted Irgoth.

“Spectral Dominion.” They both chanted.

“Axis of the Beyond.”

“Sanctum of the Vengeful.”

The two stood opposite one another. Raúl opened the attack, blasting Rancour with Exterior, and pulling him back into a right hook to the jaw, which he followed through with a punch to the ribs, as he slammed Rancour into the ground, throwing a punch aimed for his head, which Rancour dodged, wrapping his legs around Raúl’s neck, punching him in the face, as he lacerated him with slashes before he could react.

Before he could strengthen his Dominion’s barrier, it collapsed, instantly cutting him across the body, tearing down even the quarks and electrons within his body, entirely tearing apart his body at its most fundamental levels.

He's trying to tear apart my body, he’s already learned how to pull me apart at the macro-quantum level, soon, he’ll learn how to pull me apart at the quantum level. Raúl thought, raising a resonance barrier to heal his wounds.

Rancour leapt off of his Sanctum, kicking Raúl in the face, breaking his resonance barrier as he attempted to punch Raúl to which he dodged, punching Rancour in his stomach, rapidly hitting him with multiple punches to the chest as he kicked him away, raising a rudimentary dominion to cover himself.

“Extricate Light, Wreathing Darkness. The glare of day, the shroud of night, the intertwined mediator. Complete and Total, Median.” Raúl recited, to Rancour’s horror as he was enveloped by Median, as his entirety of being was destroyed, destroying the Dominion from the temporary destruction of his Essence.

As Rancour regenerated, he panted heavily, both he and Raúl exhausting vast quantities of Spectral Energy to hurt one another, their techniques and powers being burnt out from the use of their Dominions.

“That was quite the attack, you even destroyed my Essence for a second there. If I wasn’t bound to my concepts, you would’ve entirely erased my concept of being. You are strong, King Raúl.” Rancour commented, a smile enveloping his face, as he stood in glee of the one who could truly challenge him.

“I’ll admit, you had me worried there, I was quite surprised at your intellectual capacity, as you figured out how to destroy my electrons and quarks, you’ve nearly figured out how to destroy me at the quantum level too, haven’t you?” Raúl asked.

“All in due time, my friend.” Rancour replied.

“Shall we continue then?” Raúl proposed.

“Oh, it would be my pleasure!” Rancour responded, as the two geared up to fight once again.

“Spectral Dominion!”
