Chapter Thirty-Two: The Grand Overseers

Chapter Thirty-Two: The Grand Overseers

The five sent by David touched down near London, lead by Adonis. The five came upon the castle of England, as Momo rushed outside, followed by Raúl. All five looked over at Raúl, his sheer Spectral Energy release causing them to shake, as Nathaniel, Grimbjor and Ariane were forced to one knee, with Adonis and Gio struggling to stand.

“Well well, what do we have here? Adonis, Gio, Nathaniel, Grimbjor and Ariane. A pleasure to meet you all.” Raúl remarked, as Marzen joined Raúl and Momo.

"How do you know our names, I have never seen you in the entirety of my eons of existence." Gio remarked.

"I can read you like an open book, I know every detail of you, your techniques and even what drew you to fighting." Raúl replied.

“Where are Hjalmarr and Takahiro?” Momo asked Marzen, as Raúl continued talking.

“In Europe somewhere. They’re finding allies, apparently.” Marzen replied.

“So it’s just us.” Momo stated, as Adonis flew into the air, returning to the moon immediately, as the other four looked over at Raúl, who bore a large smile on his face, sensing the presence of his brother, and another, similar in strength to himself.

Adonis returned with David and another unknown male, as Rancour, Vallum, Amirah and Ichiro also joined the scene.

“My oh my, what do we have here? Emperor David. I remember you; I could never forget the one who nearly banished me all those years ago!” Rancour called, smiling at David.

“Rancour. Seems you got your original form back, how’s the search for your ring?” David inquired.

Rancour reached into his cloak, drawing the ring from it.

“I thought I’d allow you all to experience the spectacle. I knew you were coming, David, and I wanted to show you just how large the gap in-between us truly is!” Rancour declared, as he slipped the ring onto his finger. An explosion of power that the Void Master himself felt engulfed every corner of creation.

The restrictors finally broke, as Rancour finally tasted the freedom that Raúl and David had enjoyed. Every dichotomy within creation was lifted off of him, as he became a pure embodiment of his own essence, freed from the restrictions of creation.

Just as I predicted. It's time to give him a taste of the past. David thought, teleporting someone behind him.

“You've gotten so strong, Eric!” A woman’s voice called, as Rancour’s eyes widened, looking over to the one being who had ever found his affection.

“Edith.” Rancour muttered, an expression of shock and regret upon his face.

“Y-you… You cannot be alive. I watched you die.” Rancour mumbled to himself, as David smiled at him.

“I knew there was one thing in all of creation, that nearly destroyed your desire for Chaos, Rancour. Love. Love of Edith, when I heard rumours that one had broken the barrier of the fourth dimension, I thought it impossible. They told me it was a man exuding vast quantities of vengeful and chaotic Spectral Energy. I knew it was you, so I decided to bring your beautiful Edith back to you. Even though I hate and resent you for bringing Chaos to my designs, I will never deny my enemy that which he had set aside his ambitions for, love is what we seek, is it not? Well then, run along, young Edith, before I change my mind.” David remarked.

Edith ran to Rancour, embracing him in a hug that seemed to withdraw all Chaos from the universe for but a moment.

“Is it true you’re the one who did this, created a Chaos that could tear apart creation?” Edith asked, as she looked into Rancour’s red eyes.

“It is.” Rancour replied, bowing his eyes in shame.

“Why are you shameful, Eric? I would have helped you, had you asked all those years ago, if you have plans, let me be a part of them.” Edith declared, as Rancour looked at her in shock.

“Edith…” Rancour stuttered.

“You don’t have to speak, I’ll help you from here.” Edith remarked, turning around to face David.

“Where did that sense of morality go? Ah, 'love triumphs over all' right? Good grief, what a bother. At least I know I can make you two happy, before I kill you.” David observed, looking over to Raúl.

“You’re hard to read, King Raúl, it seems I am only getting information you want me to see, just enough for me to profile you, but you’ve already read me, you know I could put together your entire life, strengths and weaknesses even with misleading or incorrect information. My my, you’re really good!” David commented.

“Have we talked enough, David? You're really getting annoying to shut out.” Raúl asked, yawning deeply, as he covered his mouth, staring back at David.

“Yeah, I want to tear your brain apart, to find out just what you are. So I'll take a good look after I kill you” David declared.

“Very well, let's give you the chance, if you believe you're so strong.” Raúl replied.

Raúl instantaneously separated David from the group, throwing him into an open field immediately.

So, he’s put a seal onto the timeline that can even stop our power clashing, how genius. Just who is this guy? David thought to himself, as Raúl’s green eyes glowed with invigoration.

Raúl lunged toward David, who sent out a wave of holy energy, which Raúl’s Sanctuary blocked entirely. Raúl punched David in the face, with his Interior, amplification and weakness techniques, causing him to be thrown away violently.

His technique is allowing him to double the output of his attacks! In all my countless years I’ve never seen such a beautifully mastered technique! David thought to himself, smiling widely, as he drew his sword, Requiem.

“Explode, Requiem.” David chanted, as his sword burst into golden flames.

“Will you not draw your sword, Raúl?” David queried.

“I and the Starshatterer are one.” Raúl stated.

A man becoming one with his sword? A merger of that power is impossible! David thought, staring over to Raúl in shock, as he smiled back.

“You came a long way to die, David.” Raúl declared.

“Don’t get cocky King Raúl.” David responded, scowling as Raúl entered a fighting stance.

“Well, I don’t think I’d be welcome here, no one here is of any consequence to me, you’re all weak.” Rancour declared, walking away, as Edith followed closely.

“I’ll take the one in the middle, Adonis, it seems that one, Gio is his underling, so I’ll deal with him too.” Marzen commented, as Momo nodded.

Ariane, Nathaniel and Grimbjor all headed toward Momo, who drew his sword, staring at the three as they all began charging at him.

Momo weaved Grimbjor, kicking him to the ground, catching Ariane in the air with his sword, as he unleashed slashes upon Nathaniel, causing him to fall to his knees from the weakness it induced. Ariane punched Momo across the face, as he felt his cheekbone snap with a destructive force.

Ariane smiled at him, as he stared back at her with a blank expression, assessing her. Ariane wore a flowing black and purple robe that resembled the night sky, dotted with glowing patterns that almost looked like real stars. Her eyes shone with a faint, otherworldly violet hue, and her movements appeared unnaturally smooth, as if she was defying gravity herself. A gravitational aura surrounded her, subtly bending light and distorting the space nearby, giving Momo the sense of her surreal presence and nature.

“I take it you’re the leader here, if one kick and a few slashes is capable of taking your friends out of commission?” Momo asked, calling out to her as he began fixing his hair.

“Y-yeah.” Ariane replied, blushing slightly.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

I never expected a human to be this cute. Ariane thought to herself as she regained her composure.

“Let’s see who has the superior technique.” Momo declared, compressing his scimitar into his hands as Nathaniel and Grimbjor joined Ariane.

All three lunged at Momo simultaneously. Momo drew his bow, firing multiple piercing arrows into Nathaniel, as he collapsed instantly from their impact. Momo clashed with Grimbjor, gut checking him, as he picked him up, throwing him into Ariane.

“Good grief, are you seriously this weak?” Momo sarcastically inquired, looking over to the three as they laid on the ground. Ariane got up, casting a hand sign, to Momo’s pleasure.

“Spectral Dominion: Astral Convergence.” Ariane chanted, as Ariane’s Dominion manifested as a vast, celestial sphere of distorted space resembling the event horizon of a black hole. Momo immediately felt himself become immobile, weighed down by the effects of the Dominion, as Ariane slammed her fist into Momo’s abdominals, causing him to cough blood.

Momo’s adaptation began attempting to break him free. He evolved to be able to stand, drawing his sword, as Ariane created a gravity blade. Ariane blasted Momo with a miniature singularity, tearing off his left arm as she dashed toward him.

Momo entered Black Form, acknowledging the fact that he was fighting a losing battle in his base form. Momo instantly blitzed Ariane, picking her up and slamming her into the Dominion’s barrier, forming cracks across it.

Momo and Ariane squared off. Ariane launched herself toward Momo with incredible speed, slashing his shoulder and slamming her fist across his face, as Momo narrowly missed a slash upon her, as she landed behind him. Impaling Momo upon her blade, Ariane slammed Momo into the ground, stabbing him repeatedly before he kicked her in the stomach, staggering her enough for him to go to the other side of the Dominion.

"Spectral Dominion: Locus of the Fallen Star." Momo chanted, as the icy aura of his Dominion fell over him. Momo duplicated himself into three, charging at Ariane as she let out a wave of gravity, which Momo and his clones dodged, slamming attacks into Ariane, as she immediately became overwhelmed.

"Singularity Collapse!" Ariane yelled, as a massive black hole began forming, tearing apart the fabric of reality, forcing Momo into using his ultimate attack.

"Terminate." Momo replied, slashing the air twice and making an X pattern in the sky, as time stopped around him. Momo pointed his fingers outward like a gun, launching the attack, as it erased the black hole, breaking the Dominion instantly as Momo blitzed Ariane, knocking her down with a strike to the back of the neck, as he held his sword to her throat.

“What are you waiting for? We are your enemies, are you not going to finish us off?” Ariane asked.

“What purpose would it serve? We both fight for powers beyond our understanding, this doesn’t make us enemies, we are simply the other side of the sword. Killing you would be wasting a life, I would only kill you if there was true malice in your heart, but I sense only that you believe what you have been instructed to believe. You’re no monster.” Momo explained, walking away.

Who is he? This man singlehandedly bested a lieutenant and two corporals without even bringing out his true power. Ariane thought, as Momo walked away.

“You’re here to kill humanity huh? A little far-fetched, isn’t it?” Marzen asked Adonis, who stood confidently in front of him.

“It is a fair punishment for those who attempted to surpass my master and enact their own plans upon his dominion.” Adonis replied, drawing his sword.

“I suppose you think you’re some big shot, you may have power comparable to my own, but you’re a cocky child. Your inexperience wears like a chip on your shoulder.” Vallum commented, entering the battlefield, as Momo returned as well.

“Welcome back Momo, it seems we have some genocidal maniacs upon our hands.” Marzen informed Momo, as he joined him.

“Take the weaker one, captain, the one who believes he can speak to me, is mine.” Adonis ordered, as Gio nodded, picking up Momo and launching him into the air instantly.

“Will you interfere, Vallum?” Marzen asked.

“Of course not, I’ll just kill the one who survives.” Vallum noted, laughing to himself.

“Shall we begin, human?” Adonis asked Marzen, as the latter drew his scimitar, smiling to himself.

Let’s see how powerful you really are, Aayanoru. Marzen communicated to Aayanoru, who gave Marzen an increase in power, as his blue eyes glowed like blinding lights.

Adonis launched himself toward Marzen, as the latter disappeared from his sight, instantly appearing behind him as Adonis barely blocked a strike from his scimitar, blasting curse toward him as Marzen instantly disappeared from Adonis’ sight, dodging the curse entirely.

Marzen immediately clashed with Adonis, slashing his shoulder and throwing him away with a finger. Adonis activated his hereditary technique, lightning phase, outclassing Marzen’s speed by double his movements allowed. Adonis raised his blade at Marzen, as the latter instinctively dodged, stabbing him through the arm and deactivating lightning phase.

“Surely this isn’t the limit to your strength?” Marzen inquired, smiling at the furious Adonis.

“Try surviving this, human filth! Eradicate, Aetherius” Adonis yelled.

Adonis’ blade summoned unquantifiable cursed projectiles, launching against Marzen, as he effortlessly dodged them all, blocking those who got closer to him instinctively.

Marzen instantly appeared behind Adonis, as he looked back in shock, taken aback.

"It’d be best for you to give up at this point, I don't feel the need to fight you. You've lost” Marzen observed.

“I am a Baron of the Grand Overseers! One of the greatest beings to ever walk the face of creation, I will not lose to some ordinary human! Spectral Deliverance: Abyss Avatar.” Adonis chanted, as his form began to change, disfiguring him as he reappeared, clad in a suit of armour, as he was covered in flames, his orange eyes blaring with anger.

“Now that is a form I can see making me break a sweat, I’m glad your talent actually has some substance.” Marzen observed.

“Insolent fool! I would tear apart the fabric of this timeline to kill you if there wasn’t a seal upon it! Draw your upmost strength, you’ll need it!” Adonis yelled, instantly chasing after Marzen, as he barely weaved Adonis’ attack.

The Spirit of Battle lended itself to Marzen, as the two became one for a short period, allowing them to move at speeds matching Adonis, beyond the flow of time itself. Adonis clashed with Marzen, as the two traded strikes, Adonis' physical inferiority to Marzen still being shown, as he slashed Adonis' shoulder, grabbing him and slamming him into the ground as he felt his breath being knocked out of him. Adonis recovered, blasting Marzen with curse from point blank, as he fell to his knees, unable to control himself.

“That’s all you had? You talk a lot for someone so weak.” Adonis commented, raising his blade to kill Marzen.

The blade became caught in the hands of Lord Vallum, who looked over at Adonis with contempt.

“I thought you weren’t going to interfere!” Adonis complained.

“I got bored; besides, I want to fight Marzen for myself once I finish with you.” Lord Vallum replied, throwing Adonis away with his aura.

“Time to put down this so-called monarch, once and for all.” Lord Vallum remarked, distorting the terrain with the sheer pressure of his aura, as he smiled, ready to end Adonis.
