Chapter Twenty-Six

Despite the run I had across the hallways, I found myself at the kitchen with the same silly apron. I had to thank Yuuri for that, as she wasn’t easy to negotiate with when would be the right time for me to cook dinner.

She was stubborn, but I probably alienated her into it.

As a matter of fact, it wasn’t easy to negotiate with anything at this point since I was running on borrowed time. So the best I could do was to squeeze in as much time as I got.

My mind still kept to the possibility of rescue. Sure, it will be coming in a few months. But there were billions of factors that could go wrong. Even the little intricate things that breezed past my mind snowballed into the possibility of risking our lives.

Yet, I had this feeling that if we were rescued and somehow entered a world moving on from a pandemic and an apocalypse, I wouldn’t be smiling.

“Ryu-san…” Yuuri tapped on my shoulder, “Is everything alright?”

“I’m doing fine” I turned over, “Just trying to focus on the soup right now”

“I see… you just look tense, that’s all”

“It’s alright” I gave a few glances by the window, before continuing to focus on the soup, “Can I work on something like this in a few days?”

“Uh… sure”

I could already tell through Yuur’s expression that there’d be issues.

“We’re out of food again?” I started up the stove.

“Yeah, hopefully we could do another test of courage”

“Last I checked, we rid the entire store of food”

Yuuri gave a short nod, before staring at the floor while I continued tending to the pot.

“Well… do you have any idea on what we could do Ryu?”

Despite the mixed authority we shared in the club, it wasn’t easy to pull tips from each other when we were in the same predicament.

“Perhaps a trip outside?” I glanced over.

“Probably… but whose car are we using?”

“We can go in Sensei’s car”

“Do you think Megu-nee would mind? Not to mention the issue of driving the vehicle itself”

I had already thought of a possible issue with that, yet I decided to hold off on mentioning it. Perhaps they should be handled later.

“She wouldn’t. Yuki’s good at convincing Megu-nee beyond what I can do”

“We can always depend on her for that…” Yuuri gave a soft smile, “How about we put the thing into consideration for now. Perhaps the gardens could give us something to last for a week”

“That’ll work…” I stopped for a moment, “And by the way Yuuri, may I borrow the boombox?”

She gave a puzzled look at me.

“Why’s that?”

“Let’s say it’s important”

“I can’t let you have it unless I know it’s for a good reason”

“You do know it’s going to rain, right?”

Yuuri turned over towards the window, before looking at me. At first, she didn’t understand what I had meant, but after a bit of an awkward stare, her eyes widened in realization.

“You should’ve told me in the first place” Yuuri opened a cabinet below the sink, pulling it out.

To be fair… direct conversations are anticlimactically short. How would I be able to understand someone if the only answer was a yes or no?

“Please take care of it” Yuuri lifted the boombox, passing it to me, “I’ll be at the broadcasting room. Yuki-chan is taking a nap there”

“What happened to the third article of the club?” I gave a smirk.

“You’re one to talk”

“Those barricades won’t fix themselves…”

“Speaking of that, we may need you to fix the barricades around here” Yuuri pointed down a hallway, “Perhaps tomorrow?”

“Probably before Yuki’s classes”

“Would you want me to get everybody over once Dinner is ready?”

“I’ll get them myself. Thanks for the offer though”

“See you there”

As Yuuri walked down the hallway, I stared at the dining table to my left.

It wasn’t exactly interesting, other than drawings of each other on our respective cups. Yet in this club room, I had realized that I’ve never had a feeling of awkwardness or boredom sitting here.

I’ve never regretted watching Yuki think of something fun for us to do, or Kurumi to crack a joke, or Yuuri to discipline us three, or even just Sakura walking in on us having fun.

The feeling of smiling every time you’re with someone was… almost surprising for someone like me who valued quiet. After some time idling close by the pot, I finally turned the stove off.

Unfortunately, the moments where I can smile can’t last forever. It has happened once with Hano, but it won’t happen another time. I had made a promise to be a friend.

Being a friend was pretty much a checklist that I had ticked off. Being happy around your friends, having trust in each other, helping them in times of need, even understanding each other.

But one big question remains. One I’ve yet to answer.

I had an odd dream today. Yet I had already forgotten what it was about.

I got up from my mattress, my eyes still heavy. After rubbing my eyes, I opened the door, walking into Kurumi who was reading magazines while resting at the table.

“What’s up?”

“Where is Megu-nee?” I shuddered for a moment, almost closing my eyes.

“Huh? She must be in the teachers room”

“I see…”

“You’re still half asleep?”

“Sort of…” I paused for a moment while my eyes remained heavy, “I gotta go…”

“Okay, hold on a second” Kurumi got up, grabbing her gloves and some knee pads from the table.

“I can go by myself… you’re being overprotective Kurumi-chan”

“Shuddup, it’s the rule”

I didn’t know why she would do that, but I decided not to question it as I was too tired to even look around me. She’s always been like that ever since the club was made. Although she was probably trying to find an excuse to use shovel-kun

The door swung open all of a sudden.

“The third article of the school life club codes!”

I felt a jolt across my body, as Kurumi and I raised our hands to answer it.

“Do not move around by yourself at night. You must move with at least one other person at any given time!” We responded.

“Good job” Yuuri walked over, “The advisor will be held responsible if something were to happen when you walk around by yourself at night”

“I feel bad for Megu-nee…”

“Look who's talking here!” Kurumi interrupted.

“Wait, where’s Ryu-kun?”

“Tanaka-kun? He’s cooking dinner”

Kurumi and I both glanced at each other.

Ryu’s cooking wasn’t exactly hit or miss, yet his consistency and passion seemed to have paid off quite well. Kurumi had been a bit critical, yet she seemed to like what Ryu cooked yesterday.

“Ooh! What is he cooking?”

“He told me to keep it a secret”

“Aw”

“Are you coming, Yuki?” Kurumi stood by the door.

“Yep!”

We stepped out of the room, making our way towards the closest bathroom with Kurumi in the lead.

I glanced over at the window, admiring the rather gloomy and dark yet atmospheric view marked by a barely visible moon.

I love school at night. It’s quiet and I don’t hear anything. It is as if everyone has disappeared from this world and we are the only people left.

As we got close to the bathroom, I noticed a figure by the end of the hallway standing there.

“Hey, someone’s coming” I shuffled behind Kurumi, who clenched her shovel.

“Isn’t he a delinquent?” She turned over.

“What should we do?”

“Keep quiet and don’t–”

Before Kurumi could finish her sentence, I heard a few light taps on the floor.

“Yuki-san?” A whisper came through.

Ryu-kun!

“Ah! Hi Ryu!”

Kurumi did a small shush motion at me.

“Aren’t you supposed to be making dinner”

“Sorry about that Kurumi” Ryu walked over, revealing some baseball gear he was boasting including mittens, helmets, even knee pads, “I was handling a dozen of delinquents by Class 3-C”

Kurumi clenched her shovel again.

“What’s wrong?” I leaned over from Kurumi’s shoulder.

“Uhm, nothing” She motioned me towards the bathroom, “How about we just stop by in the bathroom while Ryu waits outside”

“Sure”

As we walked into the bathroom, Kurumi took a deep sigh, her shovel lowered.

“What’s Ryu talking about when he said something was happening in 2-C? Aren’t we the only ones here?”

“Well yeah, but since he’s the Prez, he likes to spend his time catching delinquents”

“Delinquents? Well they wouldn’t go attack him, right?”

Kurumi had a conflicted expression after I asked her.

“Well, yeah” She nodded, “Ryu’s super strong”

“What if he loses to the delinquent?”

“Then I’ll help him. It’s not like two people can lose to one”

A sudden knock came from the door.

“I hate to eavesdrop…”He said in a rather hushed tone, “But there’s more than one delinquent at 2-C”

“Got it” Kurumi called out from the door, “Yuki, stay put here”

“Eh? But that’s dangerous”

“I’ll be fine. I can knock out a delinquent out with a single smash” Kurumi said proudly with her shovel over her shoulder.

“I’m more concerned about that delinquent! He might be a good delinquent”

“What the hell is a good delinquent!?”

“Like one who would pick up a puppy when it’s raining”

“I got it. Just keep the door locked”

“Okay”

I looked down on the ground for a moment. For some reason, there was this moment of unease I felt after Ryu knocked on the door about the delinquent.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon, so stay right here” Kurumi patted my shoulder.

“...Ok”

Something came up in my mind after what Kurumi said. Although rather briefly, as I couldn’t really understand what it was about.

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

“Huh?”

“What’s wrong?” Kurumi looked.

“N- nothing…” I opened the bathroom stall, “Kurumi-chan, please be extra careful. And tell Ryu to also be careful”

“Like I said, don’t worry” Kurumi did a quick check of herself at the glass, tying her hair.

“Okay” I closed the stall.

“Good”

As Kurumi left the bathroom, that sense of unease continued for a very long time.

Honestly, I reckon I met the last part of the checklist quite well.

But perhaps more could’ve been done.

There were about fifteen, possibly twenty zombies all rushing down the hallway towards me. And Kurumi was taking her sweet time there after the code I gave her. I really can’t blame her as she had Yuki to tend to.

As I waited there, the distant sound of classical music reverberated across the hallway, creating a mixed atmosphere between the danger approaching and what felt like a peaceful tune you’d play in a hotel reception.

The door swung open, as Kurumi gave a look around only to realize the rather precarious situation.

“About time…” I stood almost back to back with Kurumi, “You remember what I taught?”

“Yeah…” Kurumi gripped onto her shovel, “How the hell were there this many”

“There were many more, but I’ll tell you later”

“Right…” Kurumi gave a weird look at the choice of protection I boasted before looking down the hallway, “What’s up with the magazines?”

“I saw this in a movie… decided to use it to protect myself from scratches”

“Right… let’s hope it works” She raised her shovel, “Let’s go”

We rushed forward, with Kurumi spearheading past a few zombies before landing a blow to the knee of one of them, causing blood to splatter all across my blazer.

As Kurumi stopped to meet the two zombies in front of her, I kept to the rear, landing a kick at a nearby zombie which managed to delay his pursuit. I continued further, slamming it’s head onto the wall repeatedly with blood splattering across the wall.

“On your right” I called out after a glance at Kurumi, “Watch out”

As Kurumi landed a strike towards the neck of a nearby zombie, I charged forward at another zombie lumbering towards her right, shoving it into a small group of three right behind.

“Check your back real quick” I patted on Kurumi’s shoulder after she landed another devastating blow at the zombie she had just struck, “I’ll cover the front”

“There’s a few behind me, can you help real quick Ryu?”

“Yeah… one moment” I reached for a small tennis ball, sending a throw down the hallway that caused them to pursue it.

Although I had some experience with fighting, I was quite surprised we managed to make some progress.

“Dangit! Help me over here Ryu!” Kurumi called out with a strained breath.

Kurumi wrestled a zombie with her shovel, managing to push it away and send a blow towards another approaching zombie.

“If you shout, you’ll cause more to come over” I stepped over to the side, sending a roundhouse towards its face before throwing it at the wall before it could react, “Just keep track of everyone around you”

There were way too many for both of us to handle. It didn’t help that Kurumi’s screaming attracted more of them.

After a while of shoving and kicking, I eventually regrouped with Kurumi, this time using the tennis balls stuffed around my pockets to bounce towards the hallways, luring only a few zombies away.

It was a temporary measure. But it was better than nothing.

“The hell are you doing Ryu?”

“Look” I pointed over at the horde, noting how a few of the zombies had followed the tennis ball, “See?”

“Wow…” She shook her head in amusement, “Didn’t know that’d work”

Kurumi has been handling a lot of zombies quite well, especially compared to me who could only throw as much martial arts as I could. Perhaps she’s finally using that brain of hers, to bluntly say it.

“Kurumi?” I finally pulled out my knife from my blazer.

“Yeah!?”

Before I said anything, I thrusted my knife straight at the shoulder of a zombie, before repeatedly stabbing it in the neck until it fell onto the ground beside me.

“Wanna get outta here? We can lure them away”

It was quite a silly question, but I didn’t mind asking.

“Sure” Kurumi swung her shovel to her right, narrowly stopping a zombie from landing a hit on her, “You seem quite tired Ryu”

“Look out”

I reeled my knife backwards, sending it straight at the zombie which landed straight at its head and killed it instantly.

Bullseye.

“What the–” Kurumi looked over, almost flinching “When did you learn how to use a knife?”

“I’m good at throwing things!” I pulled the knife out of the zombie’s head, “That knife throw was just luck!”

Kurumi gave a short nod, before striking another zombie straight in the chest, followed by a parry and a swing towards the neck of another one beside her.

“You’re doing good Kurumi! We’ll push to where I have set a few things up” I thrusted my knife straight at a zombie’s neck, causing blood to splatter all across my face, “Ah jeez”

“Watch out” Kurumi jumped up, sending a knee kick towards a zombie.

The zombie backpedaled towards me, prompting me to step aside and send a roundhouse kick towards the back of its head. A crack followed, as it fell onto the ground motionless.

I turned over to my right, noticing that Kurumi had started to run out of breath.

The door to the broadcasting door opened, as Yuuri poked her head out.

“Rii-san! There are too many!” Kurumi shouted.

Yuuri gave a short nod, before closing the door.

“You’re already tired?” I turned over, giving a short pant.

“I can say the same for you…” Kurumi gave a short rest by the wall, almost out of breath.

After managing to regroup near the wall, I gave a tap to Kurumi’s shoulder.

“Kurumi” I gave a pant, “Can… we hold on for a few minutes? Let’s get to the classroom”

She looked at me, before nodding.

“Please promise to me not to get tired all of a sudden…”

We took a sprint towards the hallway, as Kurumi led the way with her shovel plowing through the few zombies in the way while I held back in order to avoid bumping into any zombie that failed to intercept her.

The music that had once echoed across the place now intertwined with the monotone groans of zombies around it.

As I arrived at Classroom 2-D, Kurumi stopped close by the door, noticing the rather large group approaching the classroom without any notice of us.

“How did you do that?” Kurumi whispered to me.

“I borrowed the boombox Rii-san used”

“Rii-san never lets us use it. How the hell are you the exception?”

“Perhaps I have a reason for using it”

I pulled out a matchbox, approaching the entrance where more than fifty zombies were all huddled around.

“What the hell are you doing?” Kurumi grabbed me by the arm.

“Trust me, I know what I’m doing”

I lit up the match, throwing it straight towards a lone zombie at the rear of the crowd. His shirt and pants lit ablaze, spreading across the room, as I slammed the door shut. The door window emitted a sudden orange light as the fire spread across the classroom.

“What the hell? You’re gonna burn this damn school down!”

“No I won’t” I turned over to a small fire extinguisher box to my right, breaking the glass open, “I’m not that stupid, you know”

Kurumi reluctantly shrugged, before turning around to notice the slowly approaching horde coming to us.

“Whatever you’re doing, make it quick!”

“One moment” I grabbed onto the fire extinguisher, having it pointed by the door.

As I expected, the smoke will move upwards as warm air is less dense. As the School is built off of concrete with only wooden floors in the classrooms, the heat shouldn’t spread out of this classroom.

Fire alarms and sprinklers are off for the time being, so it should be a quiet experience. Even if we attract zombies through the light, their memory wouldn’t serve them well if the sound traps around the first floor still work.

Heat will most likely kill off everybody in that classroom in less than twenty seconds. All I need to do now is a Class-B Fire Extinguisher which I have right now.

“Open the door”

As Kurumi slid the door open, I felt a breeze of smoke pass through me, with the rather intriguing sight of flames all across the classrooms.

I squeezed the lever, spraying foam all across the room. Despite the fire spreading across the classroom, with such a short amount of time I had managed to contain it without a problem.

As the smoke cleared, I glanced across the room stenched with ashes. Every zombie had fallen across the floor with their bodies completely burnt to a crisp.

It was pleasant watching a plan work.

The boombox had remained intact, continuing to play its music suspended off the ground with a rope and a few tables stacked on top of each other.

Kurumi walked in shortly, noticing the charred corpses.

“How’d they die so fast?” Kurumi looked around.

“I doused them in a bit of gasoline earlier”

She didn’t believe that I managed to set something up this quickly while considering something almost suicidal. Although the true risk was hoping Kurumi wouldn’t snitch over this.

“Can you wait outside for me please?” I walked over to one of the corpses, placing my knife straight at its head before repeating this process to the remaining corpses.

“Anytime now?” Kurumi called out rather impatiently.

“This is the most efficient method I could go with” I walked out with the boombox in hand, noticing how close the horde had caught up to us.

“Do you think we can run past them?” Kurumi nudged on my shoulder.

“Quite unlikely… and burning them won’t work”

“Is burning the first thing that is in your mind?”

“I might as well throw you in head first and see if that works…”

I stuffed my hands into my blazer’s pockets for any items I had conveniently stashed, only to feel a box of matches.

“How about I distract them?” I tapped on Kurumi’s shoulder, “You take the stairs on the third floor and run back to the Clubroom so Yuki doesn’t go out of the bathroom”

“Are you crazy? Where would you go then?”

“I’ll just… cut through the first floor and bait them away?” I pointed at the stairs.

“Oh right…” Kurumi ran up the stairs, turning over to me “Please don’t get bit Ryu”

“And try not to run into them headfirst” I responded with a grin, “I’ll be fine. Just gotta check on a few traps in the meantime”

Kurumi gave a smirk, before running through the third floor.

The horde had gotten so dangerously close I could see their skin almost falling off of their faces. By then, I waited by the stairs for them to follow.

“Hey!” I called out to the horde, waiting for more of them to follow me, “Hurry up!”

With the protective gear I had boasted, all I needed to worry was to not get overwhelmed at all sides. Even outwalking them wasn’t an issue.

While leading the horde, I turned over to my right where the computer classes were. Somehow, the computers I had kept on for the occasion didn’t manage to attract the infected as I thought.

Perhaps the light isn’t bright enough? Or are their visions that poor?

Regardless, I now had the problem of using the breaker room just to turn off those computers. Manually turning them on was a pain when there were zombies right outside, but turning them off meant total death.

As I continued backpedaling, I felt a small string touch my kneecaps, followed by a few hollow taps over my head. A rather odd odor spread across my body, my magazines completely soaked.

I had fallen into the same gasoline trap.

“Ah damn” I muttered to myself.

After a moment of waiting for the rest of the horde to fill the first floor, I made a run towards the far end of the hallway.

The short run had managed to shake the horde off my tail. Yet my legs had started to cave in after the run.

“What took you so long?” Kurumi panted heavily, her shovel raised with a few zombies approaching her.

“Somehow, the traps I had placed around the first floor didn’t work” I reeled my right fist, slamming the zombie straight through the face, “Are you alright Kurumi? You seem tired”

“Yeah… I’m alright” She raised her shovel, sending a weak blow towards a zombie approaching her, “Crap!”

I pushed my right arm towards the zombie, giving it a shove only for it to charge straight at me again. It grabbed onto my shoulders, with my left hand struggling to delay its jaw from biting onto my neck.

If I were to withdraw, Kurumi surely would’ve been bit.

In a split second, I made a choice.

I raised my right arm, letting him bite onto the layer of magazines over it. A sudden pinch went through my arm, clenching my teeth until Kurumi eventually swung her shovel towards it.

“Holy… you alright?” Kurumi tapped on my shoulder.

“Yeah” I did a peek over my arm, finding zero bite wounds.

“What the hell was that for?” Kurumi tapped on my shoulder, “Could’ve at least let me handled it”

“You wouldn’t even be able to react in time” I rolled my eyes, “And honestly, you look like you need some rest after this…”

“If we do…” Kurumi stopped abruptly, leaping beside me followed by launching a killing blow towards a zombie that was approaching me from behind, “You’re getting sloppy as well…”

“Thanks…” I pulled my knife out, “I really hope this ends soon”

“Well… how long do you think we’ll last?”

“Don’t know” I took a deep breath, “But all I know is I am not going out like this”

“Me neither”

Despite the casual conversation we had, a few more zombies continued to approach us at all sides. And by the look of Kurumi, it seemed whatever we could do was futile. With each wave of zombie we handle, the next kept on coming.

The two of us quickly mustered whatever remaining stamina we had left, fighting off the few zombies in front of us, barely dodging each bite. At one point, I had almost dropped my knife, causing me to almost get rushed.

Even with everything I had planned out, we still ended up losing like this.

“Yuki hasn’t gone out, right?” I slowly backpedalled onto the wall, my knife barely raised.

“Yeah…” Kurumi leaned back onto the wall upon witnessing me hug close to the wall, her hand struggling to even keep hold of the shovel, “It’s over… huh?”

“We’ll find out soon…”

There’s only one way to get out of this. And although it was a gamble, I had a final measure in order to prevent this.

As I leaned back at the wall staring at a zombie approaching me, the school’s intercom echoed to life, as a familiar voice blared all across the hallway.

About time.

“The school is closing soon. Students who are still in the school building, please vacate as soon as you can”

The P.A looped the same announcement, causing the surrounding zombies to wander towards the stairs to the second floor. Kurumi’s eyes widened in surprise, glancing at me.

“Wanna continue Kurumi? We can tend to Yuki after this”

“... Fine” Kurumi slowly raised her shovel, dashing towards one of the few zombies heading towards the stairs.

The door swung open, with Yuuri walking over with a fire extinguisher in hand. She gave a few sprays at the zombies, repelling them back to the second stairs.

“It looks like the broadcast I released on the second floor managed to lure them away”

“What a relief…” Kurumi finally fell over, only to be caught by Yuuri and I.

“Where’s Yuki-chan?”

“She’s waiting in the restroom”

“Phew”

After a moment of thought, I turned over to Yuuri.

“Rii-san, let’s get Yuki to the clubroom as soon as possible”

“Sure”

Kurumi sat by the broadcasting room’s couch while I stared into the field, my head filled with thoughts I couldn’t even catch up on.

“So uh… Ryu” Kurumi threw a tennis ball at me, missing entirely and bouncing off the wall.

“Hm?”

“You said something about having a few traps on the first floor… what’d you do?”

“I think I meant distractions… but all I did was just turn on the computers on the first floor to bait them away. Didn’t work as I thought”

“Not everything you do would work y’know”

“Light attracts, so I thought some computers could do the trick… but perhaps the gasoline work would do”

“Where’d you even get gasoline?”

“Storage room on the first floor”

Kurumi raised an eyebrow.

“Would there be food?”

“I ransacked it clean last week”

“Darn…”

“Our concern should be on the food shortage, but perhaps we’ll find a way out tomorrow. We should get some rest”

Kurumi got up, limping towards me with her shovel acting as balance.

Fortunately, what she didn’t realise was that there were actually two storage rooms. One for food and the other for random equipment that the staff would’ve needed.

“You did quite well out there” She extended her hand out, offering me a handshake.

“I could say the same for you” I accepted it with an amused look on the gloves she was wearing, “You weren’t rash in your decisions”

Despite all the advantages we had, the undead had managed to swarm us to a point where it didn’t matter. It was terrifying, to say the least.

Yet this has given me a better insight… perhaps something new to play next time?

“Kurumi-chan!” Yuki jumped from the door, squeezing Kurumi tightly, “I’m so glad! I’m so glad!”

“Ouch that hurts!” Kurumi struggled to get out of Yuki’s embrace, “I did say not to worry, right?”

“At least let me worry about you!” Yuki turned to me, “And for you as well Ryu!”

“It’s alright Yuki” I got up from my chair, “After all, that’s what a friend would do, right?”

“Mhm!”

“Look!” Yuuri called out to Yuki, “The fourth article of the school life club codes!”

“Members will always?” I started the first sentence.

“Help and support one another” Kurumi followed.

“And have a fun school life!” Yuki completed the sentence.

Out of the articles that Yuuri, Sakura, and I had designed together, we always loved the fourth article.

“Ah by the way, where is Megu-nee?”

Sakura? Most likely she would’ve been in the teachers lounge.

I walked towards the door, noticing Sakura approaching us from the end of the hallway.

“Ah, sensei’s right there Yuki” I gave a short wave, “Good evening!”

“Hi Megu-nee!” Yuki waved.

“Hello Sensei” Yuuri gave a short wave, placing the fire extinguisher close to the radio area.

“I was wondering if you were all alright” Sakura walked in, “You’re not hurt, are you?”

“We’re okay!” Yuki emitted her usual smile, “Kurumi and Ryu had to handle some delinquents on their own!”

“They got in trouble, of course” I added on, “Perhaps a detention for them would be best. But I could ask Kurumi about it”

“Yeah…” Kurumi muttered while laying on the couch, “I think we should call it a day… I’m too tired”

“Agreed…” I turned over to Sakura, “I’ll give you the details about the delinquents later”

“That’ll be perfect!” Sakura gave a smile, “I’ll see you tomorrow Ryu!”

“Goodnight, Meg– I mean, Sensei”

Looks like I’ve finally fallen victim to Yuki’s ‘formalities’… a perfect way to end the day.

Once I reached my bedroom, I gave out a whopping cough that lasted for a whole ten minutes. After the cough, I laid by the couch staring into the ceiling deep in thought.

Yet despite the constant change in thoughts, only one question still lingered in my mind.

Am I risking myself too much?
